Chapter 189: Chapter 189: Coming and Going (3)
"Thank you, Sister Carolline Ruiz, we’re sorry." Only then did the two older children apologize.
The two naughty crabs that had caused the problem had already quietly scuttled away.
Bryan Hawkins arrived at this moment, witnessing the scene of Carolline Ruiz being held by Andy Aguirre, the two of them leaning on each other. He didn’t know what they’d been through, but the scene was inexplicably discomforting for him.
The scene was so warm, reminiscent of the times when he’d observed them together near their college, and he’d always thought they were a perfect match.
Bryan Hawkins, almost instinctively, turned around to leave at that moment. Xavier Estrada saw it too, but his thoughts differed from Bryan’s, "Mr. Hawkins, it could be a misunderstanding..."
"Let’s go," Bryan Hawkins said tersely, before striding ahead.
Xavier Estrada turned back to look at Carolline Ruiz and Andy Aguirre, who were still intertwined. Even if he were to insist it was a misunderstanding, Bryan Hawkins was unlikely to believe him.
After all, if it were really a misunderstanding, they wouldn’t still be in each other’s arms.
Could it be that Carolline Ruiz had fallen in love with someone else?
However, Xavier Estrada didn’t think Carolline would do something like this.
Xavier Estrada sighed, then hurried up to catch up with Bryan Hawkins.
The villagers watched as Bryan Hawkins and Xavier Estrada quickly arrived and departed. But they were preoccupied with their own activities for the day and didn’t have time to ponder much about it.
Carolline Ruiz and Andy Aguirre were utterly oblivious to the events occurring behind them. After being frightened by the crabs, Carolline Ruiz suddenly didn’t feel too well; a vague discomfort overcame her. Therefore, she didn’t immediately push Andy away.
After she started feeling slightly better, thinking she was fine, she finally stepped away from Andy. Seeing her pale face, Andy anxiously asked her, "Are you okay, Carolline? If there’s anything, don’t hide it from me."
"Yes, I’m fine, don’t worry. Let’s go." She guessed the discomfort was just due to the shock and she’d feel better after a while.
Andy relaxed when her color started to return, and he took care of her even more attentively on their way. Whenever children approached, he would spot them first and keep her as far away as possible.
The rain prayer was a significant event in the village, and everyone participated, from the elderly to children. Even the most mischievous children became solemn during this time.
The three of them believed in materialism, so they didn’t believe that this event had any special effects. However, they still wore expressions of respect.
Everyone has their own beliefs, and praying for rain was a belief of the villagers. It deserved respect.
During lunch, Carolline finally heard about the big incident in the village that morning. The children told the villagers who hadn’t seen the car and the people what happened and how beautiful they were.
The villager who Bryan Hawkins had questioned came over when he heard about it. "Didn’t that person say they were looking for you? Nurse Carolline, didn’t you see him?"
"He was looking for me?" Carolline had initially thought everything had nothing to do with her. Still, when she heard someone say this, her heart began beating violently for some reason. She couldn’t help but think that the person in question could be Bryan Hawkins.
Did he come to look for her?
But if he did, why had she not seen him? Had he left already?
Carolline suddenly stood up and headed toward the outskirts of the village. Seeing her react so abruptly, Andy quickly rose and followed her. However, by the time they reached the village’s edge, Bryan Hawkins and his car were nowhere to be seen.
