Chapter 1144: 012 I said I have a boyfriend_4
"Brother Axel, can you handle the spiciness of Chinese cuisine? I always feel like there’s a spicy girl’s soul living inside my sister," Liam Carrington pouted when they arrived. Every time he came here, it reminded him of the first time Elena took him here for Chinese food. Elena ordered several bright red dishes, and he, unsuspecting, took a big bite—only to leap up in spiciness. Everyone in the restaurant looked at him with strange eyes, and he was utterly embarrassed, wishing he could find a crack in the ground to crawl into.
He hadn’t expected Sister Elena to tease him like that on her birthday, so he didn’t hold it against her.
"Girls will be girls. We boys shouldn’t try to guess their thoughts," Axel Hawkins stopped Liam with just one sentence.
Liam thought Axel’s words were quite profound. He felt foolish for trying to figure out why Elena, a genuine G City native, could handle spiciness so well while he couldn’t.
He should’ve asked Brother Axel for advice earlier, so he wouldn’t have foolishly analyzed it by himself.
Elena Duncan just listened to their conversation without comment. She went inside, chatted with the owners like an old friend, and even used authentic Sichuan dialect.
Axel Hawkins was taken aback by her ability to speak the local dialect fluently. He was impressed that she had learned to speak even such regional slang.
The reason Elena learned so many languages, including domestic dialects, was on Simon Carrington’s advice. Plus, she had a real talent for language learning, so after listening closely to various local dialects, she slowly began to pick up a bit of each.
After exchanging pleasantries with the owners, Elena quickly ordered a few dishes, and the three of them found a table to sit down. "The couple who sell Chinese food are really nice; they’ve helped me before, so I gradually developed a liking for Chinese cuisine," Elena explained.
Thus, she was explaining to Axel, it wasn’t as Liam said—she didn’t have a spicy girl’s soul.
Actually, she couldn’t handle spicy food at the beginning either, but after gradually trying, she began to enjoy a bit of spice.
For today’s meal, she didn’t order anything related to chili peppers. When she first brought Liam here, she did intend to playfully tease him a bit, unaware that he would be so sensitive and reactive to spiciness.
His extreme reaction became a joke to her for a long time afterward.
"Helped you? Did you run into some trouble?" Axel quickly latched on to the key point in her statement. At that time, Simon and Daisy Willow should have still been around, so what kind of trouble could she have encountered?
"It’s just that there are too many guys chasing after Sister Elena in M Country, lots of weirdos too. Brother Axel, you have no idea," Liam interjected again. He was so clinging to Elena because he felt there were too many flies buzzing around her. He was doing all this for Brother Axel, who insisted on waiting to finish high school back home.
From a very young age, he had decided Axel was his future brother-in-law. In his heart, no one else but Brother Axel was worthy of Sister Elena.
"No, don’t listen to Liam’s nonsense. It was just that I was doing a school project and chose to research several major Chinese cuisines. I stumbled upon this Chinese restaurant, and the owners were very patient in answering my questions. Then I wrote a perfect report and even received an academic recognition from my school, that’s all," Elena explained.
So where were all those weirdos she talked about?
Even if there really were weirdos, she wasn’t a goddess, so how could she attract so many of them?
Liam had no choice but to keep silent. He was just teasing Brother Axel on purpose. He wanted to see Brother Axel get anxious. He was about to see that, but Sister Elena was so uncooperative that it really annoyed him.
Elena ordered Pork Hock Soup and several non-spicy dishes, and the three ate merrily. Liam was dissatisfied again, "Sis, that’s so unfair. Brother Axel is here, why didn’t you order some of the specialty Chinese dishes for him?"
"Axel’s stomach isn’t very strong, and he can’t eat anything too stimulating. Besides, these dishes are also specialties of Chinese cuisine, aren’t they? Don’t you think they’re tasty? Or should I pack up a few of those bright red Chinese dishes for you to take home and eat?" Elena teased knowingly. After all, those spicy Chinese dishes had probably become Liam’s nightmares.
