Chapter 1134: 010 Chengcheng’s Arrival (Boss Li)_6

When there was no one around, Carolline Ruiz would sometimes hold Axel and cry together, and it was not just occasionally, so Bryan Hawkins would sometimes stumble upon this scene, and it pained his heart.

By the time Axel was a month old, Carolline Ruiz had almost completely lost her breast milk, so Bryan Hawkins simply decided to wean Axel off breast milk. Because of this, Carolline Ruiz got quite angry and said she didn’t deserve to be a mother, as she couldn’t even satisfy her son’s hunger.

Bryan Hawkins patiently consoled Carolline Ruiz, stayed with her, comforting her, saying that it was okay for children not to drink breast milk, that formula was fine too.

Carolline Ruiz seemed not to take in anything he said.

Latter on, in order to relieve Carolline Ruiz of some of her burden, the Maternity Nurse would prepare the formula, and Bryan Hawkins would personally hold Axel and feed him, taking over Carolline Ruiz’s duties.

After Axel was full and sleepy, Bryan Hawkins would hold him in his arms just like Carolline Ruiz did and gently lull him to sleep.

Strangely enough, as Bryan Hawkins’s attitude towards Axel changed, Carolline Ruiz’s depression gradually improved.

The whole family was very happy.

It was after noticing the changes in Carolline Ruiz that Bryan Hawkins took her hand and expressed his deep remorse, "I’m sorry, wife. It’s not that I don’t love Axel; he is our son. The love I have for him is the same as for Axel. I’m not disappointed that he’s a son and not a daughter. I’m sorry, I was too stubborn before and made both you and Axel suffer."

Carolline Ruiz just leaned over and gave Bryan Hawkins a long, tight hug.

Now that Carolline Ruiz was better, the whole family was very happy, and Sophia Lawson took care of the child until he was one year old before moving back to Hawkins Mansion for good.

Emily Hill also did the same. With the addition of a servant specially hired to look after the children, Carolline Ruiz really didn’t get tired at all.

As Axel’s mother, there were so many people vying to sleep with Axel each day that Carolline Ruiz hardly got her turn. Sometimes, she needed Bryan Hawkins’s help to sneakily carry Axel back to the room so that Carolline Ruiz could enjoy the rare pleasure of spending time with her little son, cherishing those precious, hard-to-come-by hours.

Axel had been doted on since birth, and Bryan Hawkins was worried that Axel might harbor some jealousy, so the first thing he did when he got home from work each day was to spend time with Axel.

But he didn’t expect Axel to be so sensible, not to show a hint of jealousy, and to be especially nice to Axel.

When he thought back to when Axel was born—minus his mother, grandparents, father, and great-grandmother not being around—Bryan Hawkins felt especially guilty towards Axel.

"Dad, you don’t need to feel sorry for me. I’ve grown up, and Axel is still so little; he needs more of your love. Dad, you’d better go out; I have to do my homework. After I finish my homework, I’m going to play with Axel," Axel said, not the least bit concerned about his father’s favoritism, almost as if he was annoyed that his father was delaying him from seeing Axel.

"..." Bryan Hawkins had no idea that his son was actually repelled by him.

Axel was in the first grade of elementary school now. His classmates would play first after school and then think about doing homework, but he was different. He usually finished his homework before dinner.

After dinner, he had half an hour to play with Axel, and during that half-hour, he would video chat with Elena Duncan, letting Elena see Axel on the screen.

Afterward, he would return to his room and read for half an hour, a habit encouraged by Carolline Ruiz; but the choice to follow it was his own. He found reading enjoyable and gradually made it into a habit.

Axel actually was quite content. Since his brother was born, the house was filled with more laughter. Although he hadn’t looked forward to the arrival of a sister and felt a bit of disappointment, he still loved his little brother very much.

As Axel grew day by day, so did Axel, and Elena back in M Country too.

They all looked forward to the day they would grow up.

Because Axel and Elena had an agreement for when they turned eighteen: after that age, Axel would go abroad to attend the same university as Elena.
