Chapter 1133: 010 Chengcheng’s Arrival (Boss Li)_5
The nurse took the baby to clean, and the doctor continued to assist Carolline Ruiz with the placenta and suturing.
After cleaning the baby, the nurse carried him out and congratulated the family, "Congratulations, congratulations, the mother has given birth to a son. Who is the father of the child? Come and hold him."
The nurse was new, so she was not very familiar with Carolline Ruiz and did not know Bryan Hawkins well.
Bryan Hawkins was completely stunned; it wasn’t a princess, but another son.
Seeing that the child’s father wasn’t coming forward, the nurse thought the mother’s husband hadn’t arrived yet. Fortunately, Henry Ruiz stepped up, "Hand him to me, I’m the child’s grandfather."
"Oh, it’s Doctor Ruiz’s daughter, my apologies," the nurse said to Henry Ruiz with an apologetic smile.
"It’s alright, you’re new here so it’s normal not to know. Thank you," replied Henry Ruiz, shaking his head. Gazing at the little one sleeping soundly in the swaddle, he felt incredibly tender-hearted.
Sophia Lawson and Austin Hawkins gave Bryan Hawkins, who was still dazed, a look and didn’t bother saying much to him. They followed Henry Ruiz to see the precious grandson, "Dear, let’s bring the child back to the ward first."
"Sure, let’s do that," said Henry Ruiz as he handed Axel to them while he and Emily Hill stayed with Bryan Cooper, waiting for Carolline Ruiz to come out.
Bryan Hawkins was still in a daze, feeling quite downcast without a trace of joy.
Henry Ruiz approached him, "The Ultrasound these days are very clear. We saw it was a boy at the time. Carolline mentioned it to you, but you didn’t believe it. Bryan, whether it’s a son or a daughter, they are angels sent to you and Carolline by heaven, right? Don’t force it, just let nature take its course."
"..." Bryan Cooper of course understood this truth. He just wanted a beautiful daughter that looked like Carolline Ruiz. That didn’t mean that he wouldn’t love his son. He loved Axel very much, and after all, the boy born today was also the fruit of his and Carolline’s love.
"I know, Dad," Bryan Hawkins nodded and forced a smile.
Henry Ruiz understood that forced smile well, knowing that when someone has longed for a daughter and it turns out to be a son, there was bound to be a sense of disappointment.
Well, time would be given for him to slowly adapt.
In fact, Bryan Hawkins was thinking that if it had been a princess, he would have doted on her as Bryan Cooper’s brother did, spoiling her rotten. But now that it was a son, the way he would treat a son was completely different from a daughter.
The so-called "different" was such that Bryan Hawkins, as a father, hadn’t held Axel even once until his full month celebration.
This was very troubling for Carolline Ruiz.
Because of her distress, Carolline Ruiz hardly had any breastmilk. The less milk she had, the more anxious she became. Later, when they consulted a doctor, it was said that she had postpartum depression, but not the particularly severe kind.
Bryan Hawkins was scared witless, his whole heart going out to Carolline Ruiz. He contacted Megan Clifton and others to take turns talking to her, and the timely return of Daisy Willow and Simon Carrington was very welcome.
Initially, Carolline Ruiz was simply melancholic, not depressed, but as her breastmilk decreased, she became increasingly anxious. She truly wanted to breastfeed Axel, especially since the milk flow was quite good on the first day.
Upon hearing from her mother that Bryan Hawkins hadn’t held Axel at all, not even gone to see him, she began to feel melancholic, which gradually developed into depression without her realizing.
By the time her family noticed something was wrong with her, she was already suffering from depression.
Talking to her wasn’t of much use, no matter who visited.
Carolline Ruiz didn’t feel like talking and instead just shut herself into a dead end.
After that, what Carolline Ruiz liked doing most was holding Axel. She would hold him all day long, even when Axel was asleep, she would hold him in her arms.
Sophia Lawson and Emily Hill had both advised her not to spoil the child like that. They said to put him down when he’s asleep, but Carolline Ruiz disagreed. If there was something she didn’t want to do, Bryan Hawkins wouldn’t force her.
If she liked to hold him, Bryan Hawkins let her be. As long as she cried less, he was fine with her holding him as much as she wanted. The child was still so small, and there was no harm in a mother spoiling him a bit more.
That was what Bryan Hawkins thought.
But what he didn’t know was that Carolline Ruiz held Axel like that because she felt Axel was pitiful. From birth, he wasn’t cherished by his father merely because he was a son and not the daughter his father had hoped for.
If the father didn’t love him, then she as the mother had to love him all the more.
