Chapter 1132: 010 Chengcheng’s Arrival (Boss Li)_4
Carolline Ruiz was somewhat at a loss for words. What do you mean the baby is coming out now?
Indeed, after Bryan Hawkins called out like that, there suddenly came a clatter from downstairs as the four elders scrambled upstairs in a flurry, their maternity bags on the second floor.
Fortunately, the maternity bags had always been prepared, so they could just grab them and go.
"Carolline, do you just have a stomachache, or is there any amniotic fluid coming out?" Emily Hill was the most composed one, rushing over to Carolline’s side and asking about her condition.
At that moment, Bryan Hawkins was still rational. Knowing he was clueless, he didn’t dare get too close to Carolline, waiting for Emily Hill to issue commands at any time.
"No, just a feeling of pain." When the pain subsided, Carolline was still able to speak.
"Alright, Bryan, later you’ll help Carolline slowly walk downstairs. Get the driver ready, as we’re heading to the hospital right now. Your dad is already calling the hospital," Emily Hill said, remaining collected.
"Oh, okay, but can Carolline still walk?" Bryan Hawkins thought it would be simpler to just carry her.
"Let her walk by herself. Let’s go," Emily Hill didn’t suggest that Bryan Hawkins should carry Carolline.
And just like that, Carolline got into the car on her own, sitting in the spacious backseat. It wasn’t long before the pain returned, more frequent contractions set to begin.
Carolline knew it and gritted her teeth against it, not crying out, but Bryan Hawkins still keenly observed that she was sweating on her brow from holding back the pain.
He held Carolline’s hand, "Honey, if it hurts, just shout it out. It might feel better."
Having accompanied Carolline to prenatal check-ups and heard the fetal monitor in the hospital ward, he often heard other women in labor crying out, which made him tremble at the thought of how painful it might be for Carolline to give birth.
It must have been unbearable, otherwise, when he touched Carolline’s hand, she wouldn’t have gripped his hand so tightly, the pressure making him feel numb, though he didn’t mind.
"No need, I have to conserve my strength; don’t worry, it’s normal for women to feel pain during childbirth," Carolline turned to console Bryan Hawkins, knowing that he was worried about her, but that’s just how childbirth is.
Realizing she was holding his hand very tightly, she slightly loosened her grip.
A natural delivery means it’s over once the baby is born, while a cesarean section means there’s no pain during the delivery, but pain will come afterwards.
She had long been mentally prepared and didn’t mind the pain caused by the contractions.
Soon, they arrived at the hospital, and the doctors were all ready. As soon as Carolline arrived, she was laid on a surgical cart and taken straight to the delivery room by elevator.
The doctors issued some exams, as some checks are still necessary before delivery.
Carolline was thus wheeled away to undergo various examinations and then the doctor arranged for her admission into a private ward—a very special treatment indeed.
Carolline was quick to react. Two hours into the pain, the doctor came to examine her cervix and arranged for a nurse to wheel her into the delivery room.
People Hospital is not a private hospital, so when Bryan Hawkins wanted to enter and accompany her during childbirth, he was directly refused by the doctor in charge, who didn’t bother explaining to him and sent Henry Ruiz to do it instead.
Once inside, things were already very busy. In the past, they’d allowed many prospective fathers to enter for humanitarian reasons, but it had resulted in constant jokes and disturbances, so now they no longer allow fathers-to-be in the delivery room.
Especially since Bryan Hawkins seemed like a particularly excited and nervous prospective father. They didn’t want the added strain of having to cope with a father’s yells while also attending to a laboring woman’s cries.
The decision of the doctor in charge, however, was clearly the correct one. Carolline’s entire birth process went incredibly smoothly, and she cooperated very well. Although the delivery was not the shortest in duration, it was the smoothest, with the baby born and the episiotomy stitched up in just two hours.
"Congratulations, Carolline, it’s another boy, six pounds and three ounces," the doctor in charge was very familiar with Carolline. As soon as the baby was born, the severe pain Carolline was feeling disappeared, and with the doctor coming over with good news, she couldn’t help but smile.
Although exhausted, fortunately, the child was born and healthy. That was also a good outcome.
It was just that she wondered what the expression of the dad outside would be when he found out that the princess turned out to be a boy.
