Chapter 1117: 007 The eldest Li who is crazy about his daughter_5

Bryan Hawkins lay peacefully by Carolline Ruiz’s side and then had a beautiful dream.

In the dream, their daughter turned three years old in the blink of an eye. He carried her on his shoulders, riding his "steed" while Carolline walked by his side; on her side was Axel. The family of four walked happily down the street, turning heads at a rate of two hundred percent.

In his sleep, he even woke up with a smile from the happiness.

It was Bryan’s laughter that woke Carolline; she usually napped for just an hour. Seeing Bryan smile like that, she didn’t need him to tell her—he must have dreamt of their princess.

Carolline decided not to disturb his delightful dream and planned to get up quietly, but just as she was about to sit up, Bryan woke up. He opened his bleary eyes and asked vaguely, "Honey, where are you going?"

"I just woke up, just walking around the room," Carolline replied.

"I’ll join you. Or should we take Axel for a visit to his grandparents?" Bryan knew Carolline was home all day and could certainly use a change of scenery, so he made the suggestion.

"Let’s not. We have a prenatal checkup tomorrow. We can go then. Besides, Axel didn’t really concentrate on his homework this morning." Carolline thought it was time he buckled down as he was about to start elementary school.

While kindergarten education could be centered around happiness, being an elementary student required a solid foundation in academics.

"That’s fine too," Bryan nodded and got up as well.

"I’ll go check on Axel, you head to the study and see if there’s anything to take care of for the company," said Carolline as she went to change into her house clothes.

Bryan nodded, and Carolline left the room.

Bryan headed to the study. With William and Camelia Hawkins running the company, he wasn’t worried at all; they would have called him if anything urgent came up.

He turned on the computer and started to write a letter to his daughter; it wasn’t much, just a sentence every day.

"July 5th, my little princess, today is the 180th day you’ve been in Mommy’s belly. Only a hundred more days to go before we meet. Are you looking forward to the moment you meet Daddy? Daddy sure is excited to meet you; Daddy loves you!"

In just a few short sentences, a father’s deep love for his daughter was conveyed.

Years later, when Brother Axel grew up and learned to read, he rummaged around the house and found the letters that Bryan had written to his daughter. He was puzzled—other than himself and Brother Axel, there were no sisters in the house. They were just two brothers, so who exactly was this "little princess" Daddy was referring to?

Brother Axel was confused for a long time and each time he asked Mom or Brother Axel about it, Dad would visibly blanch and look severely stern and utterly dejected, whereas Mom and Brother would just smile silently.

It wasn’t until much later that Brother Axel learned from his grandparents that the "little princess" Daddy always mentioned was actually himself.

He then understood that when he was in Mom’s belly, Dad had thought he was going to have a daughter, and Dad had really wanted a girl. But, it turned out, he had a little brother instead.

Because of this, he was somewhat upset for a while. During that time, he constantly followed Dad around, asking, "Daddy, are you disappointed that Axel isn’t a girl?"

"..." Bryan didn’t want to bring up those embarrassing old stories. Every time Brother Axel brought it up, he was reminded of the time he thought Axel was a girl; he would go into the Baby Store and start picking out pink things and even prepared a very dreamy room. Thinking about it, he felt utterly foolish.

He didn’t even want to know how people behind his back had laughed at him.

Just when he thought it was all in the past, his younger son kept asking questions and stumbled upon the diary letters written for the daughter he never had, how could he not feel depressed?

"Well, since Daddy likes girls so much, I’ll go have surgery to turn myself into a girl, okay?" Brother Axel blinked innocently at Bryan.

"...You dare!" Bryan was taken aback; he had never expected Brother Axel to think like that.

Seeing his father’s reaction, Brother Axel suddenly laughed, turned to Brother Axel with a mischievous smile and said satisfyingly, "See, I knew Daddy still loves me."

"..." Brother Axel didn’t respond, feeling speechless about having such a silly little brother.

Later, after a thorough investigation, Bryan learned that Brother Axel had concocted the plan to make sure Brother Axel knew he was loved. That evening, both brothers were punished to stand for three hours, and they didn’t even get dinner.

Carolline didn’t intervene either, as she had indeed been scared too.
