Chapter 1108: 006 Approval from Both Parents
Stella Carrington probably never expected that, by placing her hopes on her grandparents, it would turn out that for Simon Carrington, his parents’ presence didn’t mean as much as the master’s. Therefore, after Simon had discussed his relationship with Daisy Willow over the phone with his parents, knowing that Daisy was the granddaughter-in-law favored by the master, they naturally wouldn’t oppose.
Far from opposing, they even helped the couple prepare for the wedding, not minding at all that Daisy was remarrying or that she had a child, Elena, from her previous marriage.
Once they understood what Simon meant, they found some time to visit their villa to see Daisy and Elena, bringing with them a gift they had collected during an archeological excursion.
Elena received a figurine resembling a clay model, but the material wasn’t clay. Elena liked the oddly shaped figurine, while Stella received something that looked like a bone. Upon opening the box, she was so frightened that she threw the box far away.
Liam Carrington ran to pick it up, delighted with the bone artifact. Eventually, Simon’s parents handed over the bone to young Liam.
They hadn’t expected Stella to be so scared. Of the three children’s gifts, Stella’s bone was the most valuable in terms of collectibility, but Stella just didn’t recognize its worth.
Considering how much Liam cherished it, Simon’s parents felt comforted. Seeing how Elena treasured their gift also felt like a sign of destiny with their family, which was quite satisfying. It seemed true that those who aren’t relatives won’t enter the same door.
"Felicia, this is from me and your Uncle Simon. From now on, this household and the three children, we leave to you. You really have gone through a lot," Simon’s mother sincerely said to Daisy. They admitted they were not qualified parents, having hardly taken care of Simon after his birth, let alone participated in his growth and education. They had been just like guests at Simon’s wedding to Fiona Adams, merely attending without contributing anything.
Even when the master passed away, it was Simon and Daisy who personally handled everything. That was also when they first met Daisy, and their impression of her had been very favorable, no wonder the old man, in his last days, had chosen her for care.
They had initially been shocked when Simon called to say he wanted to marry Daisy, but then they recalled the master’s will, stipulating that upon hearing Simon wanted to marry, they should open a letter he had left them. They had treasured this letter more than any inheritance left by the master.
Upon opening the letter, they discovered that Daisy had long been chosen as the granddaughter-in-law by the master, who hadn’t been able to see his wish fulfilled in his lifetime but had finally succeeded now.
Apparently, the master had left that letter hoping that Simon’s decision would receive their support as his parents, since, after all, following his departure, Simon’s closest kin would be his parents.
Indeed, even without the letter, as long as it was what Simon wished, they would have accepted it.
"It won’t be very difficult, Auntie. This is all my responsibility," Daisy nodded, her previous fears that Simon’s mother would give her a hard time vanished, pleasantly surprised by the understanding nature of Simon’s parents.
"You are truly a good child. Taking care of Stella and Liam, your uncle and I feel reassured. Are you planning to have the wedding in M Country or go back to your home country? Most of our relatives are back home, maybe it would be good to hold it there? A lot of your friends seem to be there too. Of course, it could be in Kyoto or in G City; we can consider what Felicia’s parents prefer. What do you think?" Simon’s mother turned to ask Simon, respecting Daisy’s family’s opinions.
"Let’s discuss this issue later. The kids will soon be back in school, and if we are to make arrangements, it should be during their summer vacation. Also, Daisy’s family doesn’t yet know about our relationship; we must get their consent before we proceed with any plans," Simon calmly said, knowing his parents would agree; thus, the quick jump to discussing the wedding didn’t stir much excitement in him. Rather, the fact that Daisy was not opposing the idea anymore gave him a steady peace of mind.
"That’s right, we need to inform her parents. We are confident in how you handle matters. Remember, just give us a call whenever you need help, and we’ll be right there," Simon’s father stood up, admitting the journey here was both easy and challenging.
