Chapter 1067: 026 Newlyweds like nesting swallows, aunt breaks the appointment_13
Bernard Taylor watched her dazed and adorable expression and thought she had remembered something important, feeling somewhat relieved, "You finally remembered?"
"What are you talking about? I was just trying to figure out how many days it’s been since I last had coffee. I’ve been so busy lately, like a spinning top, that I’ve completely lost track of time," Avery Graham mumbled.
"..." Bernard felt a twinge of disappointment. He had thought she had remembered something significant. Since Avery couldn’t recall it on her own, he felt he needed to remind her. Just as he was about to put his hand into his pocket, Avery blurted out again in a rush, "How many days are we taking off after our wedding?"
"At least a week, right? What’s up?" Bernard replied matter-of-factly.
"So where shall we go for fun this week? It’s so hot in G City, let’s find a cool place to hang out. Come on, let’s turn on the computer to look." Avery jumped off the couch energetically. Even though there was a carpet cushioning her landing, the forcefulness of her movement made her wince in pain from her feet.
"Slow down, will you? You’re a grown-up now. What if our little treasure inside your belly gets hurt?" Bernard quickly came to her aid.
"...What did you just say?" Avery was stunned. She had felt uneasy the past few days, as if she had forgotten something important.
But she couldn’t remember what it was at the moment.
If it weren’t for Bernard’s reminder today, she would have completely forgotten that this month, her period seemed to have missed its schedule.
"What’s wrong? Did you hurt yourself?" Seeing her bewildered expression, Bernard thought she might have injured her foot and asked worriedly, while gently squeezing her leg and foot.
"No, do we have any test strips at home? I think my relative may have missed her visit." Avery slipped on her shoes and asked Bernard. If they didn’t have any, she was going to buy one from downstairs and try it out.
"Yes, I’ll go get it." Bernard pretended to walk over to where the medicine box was placed, took the opportunity to throw the test strip from his pocket into the medicine box, then picked it out again, "Here you go, go and test it. Do you need my help?"
"..." Avery gave him a look and then turned to walk away, but after a couple of steps, she turned back as if she remembered something, "Did you know about it all along and were just playing dumb with me?"
If she remembered correctly, Bernard seemed to know more about her menstrual cycle than she did. This month she hadn’t gotten it yet, so could he really be unaware?
"I just guessed it, but I couldn’t be sure before it was confirmed. Besides," Bernard explained professionally, "with your high levels of work recently, a missed period doesn’t necessarily mean pregnancy."
"!" Avery’s face changed colors. If it wasn’t pregnancy, wouldn’t that mean she was experiencing hormonal imbalance?
This poison-tongued Bernard Taylor.
Clutching the test strip tightly, Avery hurried to the Health Room to take the test. The pregnancy test stick clearly showed two lines, and Avery finally understood that some people were deliberately causing this.
"How is it?" Two minutes later, Bernard knocked on the door tentatively.
The next second, Avery opened the door, tossed the pregnancy test stick at Bernard for him to see for himself, and stormed off to sit on the living room couch, crossing her arms over her chest in a posture ready to seek justice.
"Positive?" Bernard approached cautiously, with a flattering expression, somewhat shamelessly sitting next to Avery.
"Are you blind? Can’t you see it?" Avery was furious, "I was wondering why there’s no coffee or soda at home. So you planned this all along? You knew I was pregnant, didn’t you? That’s why those things have become forbidden, right?"
As a nurse, Avery knew some common sense: pregnant women shouldn’t drink coffee or soda, and there were many other things they should avoid. But did he really need to be so secretive about it?
Did he need to be so sneaky in doing these things?
"If it really is a pregnancy, these are definitely forbidden now," Bernard nodded. He felt it was time for a serious conversation. He could let Avery eat spicy and cold things, but coffee and soda, those were definitely off-limits.
"..." Out of irritation, Avery sulked, "Authoritative, not keeping your word, Bernard, you’re just a lowlife."
Avery was so angry she was speaking without thinking, but Bernard just laughed, "Sweetheart, go change your clothes, take a shower, wash off your makeup. Let’s go to bed early. Tomorrow we’ll go to the Hospital for a blood test."
