Chapter 1056: 026 Newlyweds like nesting swallows, aunt breaks the appointment_2

After leaving the Cake Shop, they had lunch and then returned to the apartment, planning to take a good rest at home in the afternoon.

The elders also disapproved of the couple meeting for the first time on the day before their wedding, but since both Bernard Taylor and Avery Graham followed scientific principles and didn’t believe in those so-called superstitious Feng Shui practices, they had no concerns about it.

Mainly, whether it was the villa of the Taylor Family or the villa of the Graham Family, both were a bit too far away. Their back and forth travels were really inconvenient, and besides, neither Bernard Taylor nor Avery Graham had taken time off in advance. Bernard Taylor had to deal with company matters, and Avery still had to patrol her two stores every day, spending half a day in each.

Especially since the re-opening of her first store required more staff due to the grand scale of the promotions, she needed to help out every day.

Fortunately, with the help of Nancy Sallow and Avery’s mom, otherwise, even a simplified wedding would have exhausted them both.

In the past, Avery actually quite liked the idea of a destination wedding, but when she brought it up in front of her mom, her mother was strongly against it, let alone Nancy Sallow.

So, in the end, Avery complied with the wishes of the elders, thinking that a bit of exhaustion was okay.

Before going home, they stopped by the supermarket and bought some snacks that Avery loved. Then they hid at home, drew the bedroom curtains, and watched a movie together.

Sitting on the red carpet, leaning against the couch, the largest picture of their wedding, where Avery laughed with great happiness and Bernard Taylor gazed affectionately at his beautiful bride, hung on the wall behind them. Bernard Taylor liked this picture the most, so Avery chose this one to hang in the living room.

Her other favorite picture was put up in their bedroom.

It was a very happy and warm home, decorated in festive red. Their new house was the apartment Bernard Taylor had bought. Bernard Taylor felt it was a bit of a compromise for Avery, but she preferred the apartment over the villa.

At least it wouldn’t be too hard to clean in the future. Of course, considering this was superfluous since whether it was the villa or the apartment, Bernard Taylor always hired professional hourly workers to take care of it.

Since tomorrow would be tiring, they both relaxed for the day.

"I want some coffee," Avery suddenly said, "Do you want any? I’ll go brew a pot."

"No, don’t bother with coffee, too much isn’t good for you. Besides, didn’t we take the coffee beans to the store for an emergency? And you don’t like those instant coffees. I’ve taken them all to the office, giving those young girls a treat." The truth was that Bernard Taylor had secretly gotten rid of all the coffee at home, he just hadn’t told Avery about it.

"Ha, you’re really generous," Avery grumbled. She didn’t like drinking instant coffee, but when there were no coffee beans available, using instant to satisfy a craving was acceptable.

"If you’re thirsty, I’ll make you some juice," Bernard Taylor stood up, took two oranges from the coffee table, and headed to the Kitchen to make orange juice.

Avery didn’t object. It was always nice to have something to eat and drink while watching a movie.

Oh, and there seemed to be several cans of Coke in the fridge. While Bernard Taylor was making juice, Avery also hurried to the Kitchen, opening the fridge to find her Coke.

However, in the fridge, besides milk and cereal, not a trace of Coke was to be seen.

"Bernard, where’s my Coke?" Avery screamed, bewildered by her missing items.

"No more Coke. I’m making juice, it’ll be ready soon. Do you want a cold drink? Don’t we have herbal tea?" It was best to avoid those carbon dioxide drinks anyway.

"Gone? I bought a whole case, and I just moved it here the day before yesterday. How can it be gone?" Avery didn’t believe Bernard’s words, which seemed infuriating. She remembered having only one can.

"Oh, wasn’t there a drink giveaway for the store’s opening? I thought you bought them for the promotion, so I moved them to the store yesterday morning." Bernard explained innocently, without annoyance, calmly.

Avery wanted to scream. Alright, her husband was clearly thinking of her Cake Shop, assuming it was to prevent the shop from losing money.

"..." Avery turned around, resigned. She might as well drink the fruit juice honestly.

Bernard finally felt relieved inside. Thankfully, he’d managed to dispose of all the unhealthy, non-nutritious stuff at home in advance. Some things, he could tolerate Avery touching, but others were absolutely off-limits, like tea, coffee, and carbonated drinks.
