Chapter 1047: 024 Unlicensed Driving_7
Of course, don’t go overboard, avoid spicy and cold foods. It’s not that they’re completely forbidden, you just need to eat them in moderation. Being cautious about eating too much is indeed true; occasionally trying them a few times won’t have any effect.
"Hmm," Avery Graham nodded.
"So you mentioned earlier you wanted to talk to me about something? Go ahead," Bernard Taylor ordered the meal, and the two found a seat by the window.
"If I get pregnant in the future, I won’t tolerate what Carolline Ruiz’s husband does. Remember this, I don’t want to live like that; otherwise, I’d rather not have children at all." Avery said. They both had worked at the hospital, but was it really necessary to make such a fuss?
"Don’t worry, I won’t. I’m quite open-minded as a husband, and gradually, you’ll see my good side," Bernard Taylor said with a smile. He indeed never intended to control Avery like Bryan Hawkins did Carolline Ruiz.
As long as Avery didn’t eat it daily or often, he would occasionally fulfill her wishes.
"That’s good." Avery finally felt relieved. This was the matter she discussed with him.
"Honey, last night wasn’t a safe period. You might already have a little baby inside you," Bernard Taylor suddenly leaned in closer to Avery, reminding her.
"?" Avery also knew it wasn’t a safe period yesterday, so she had already gone to buy medicine, "I just went to buy medicine, I will wait a bit longer, and then I’ll take it, so..."
Avery meant to say, so he didn’t need to worry about a baby possibly being on the way.
But before she could finish, she saw that Bernard Taylor’s face looked quite displeased, and only then did she realize she might have said something wrong. The waiter had just served the dishes Bernard Taylor ordered, and once the waiter left, he turned to Avery, asking, "Don’t you want to be a mother? Even if I promise not to make your pregnancy period difficult like Carolline Ruiz’s?"
"?" Was that what she meant? Avery was a bit confused. She didn’t think that was her point.
But with Bernard Taylor’s aggressive demeanor, what was he trying to do?
Can’t we just talk nicely? Why must he take such an attitude?
"I do want to, but right now we’re not married legally, and we haven’t had a wedding ceremony. You don’t want me to become a laughingstock, do you? Our family might not be as rich and influential as yours, but we have our standards. If my parents knew about us having relations before marriage, I would definitely get scolded, let alone getting pregnant before marriage." Avery was also very angry. Of course, she knew her parents weren’t so strict since Bernard Taylor intended to marry her. It was just that what happened last night was too unexpected.
If it hadn’t been for the system crash yesterday, then everything she used as an excuse today wouldn’t be just excuses.
"So what you mean is, only have children if there’s a certificate and a wedding ceremony, and if not, then don’t have them, right?" Bernard Taylor didn’t know why, but he suddenly found it hard to control his temper, mainly because he thought about Avery wanting to take the emergency contraception to terminate what might already be a baby in her womb, which made his anger almost uncontrollable.
"?" Was that what her words meant? It didn’t seem so, and besides, was having children the point here? They hadn’t even reached that stage yet, had they?
Avery felt that Bernard Taylor’s words seemed to imply that she was forcing a marriage. Did she really need to force a marriage?
Avery suddenly became depressed. This man was indeed a typically crude creature, including Bernard Taylor, who seemed like a saint in others’ eyes. He still couldn’t change the inferior nature of men.
In the past, she had heard that men behave completely differently before and after marriage. Now it seemed even their behavior in and out of bed was different. He had been so nice to her before because he hadn’t gotten her yet, and now that he had, this is how he treated her?
Is that so? Very well, Bernard Taylor. That’s just great.
Avery stood up, unwilling to explain any further, "Think whatever you like."
With that, Avery stood up and left. Seeing this, Bernard Taylor also felt quite annoyed. He always disliked women who stormed off when they got angry, so, annoyed as he was, he didn’t go after her.
Through the glass window, he truly saw Avery get into her car, with no intention of staying. She just drove away, leaving Bernard Taylor extremely frustrated. He picked up his chopsticks, absentmindedly grabbed a bite of food, and shoved it into his mouth, only to find it tasteless. Angered, he waved his hand, and with a swipe, the tablecloth was displaced, causing everything on the table to crash to the floor.
The waiter ran over hearing this. Bernard Taylor looked around, pulled out his wallet, took out a stack of cash, paid for the breakage and the meal, and then just left.
Neither of them had expected that what had been a peaceful interaction before, had suddenly exploded into a full-blown confrontation.
It was so strange. Avery continued to feel baffled by the situation. Bernard Taylor had really crossed the line.
She pulled her car over, took out a bottle of water from the car, grabbed the medication from her bag, hadn’t even opened it, and just threw it out the window. It was all the trouble caused by this emergency contraception.
Gulping down most of the water, Avery picked up her phone only to find that, ten minutes later, Bernard Taylor, that insolent boy, still hadn’t called her back. Was he set on having this argument, then?
Fine. Let’s see whose patience holds out the longer.
Depressed, Avery stepped on the accelerator, planning to go home and sleep through the afternoon. But just as she merged into traffic and had barely driven for two minutes, there was a ’bang’—she miserably got into a rear-end collision.
