Chapter 1046: 024 Unlicensed Driving_6
So, for a bit of peace and quiet, she just needed to take it slowly, that’s all, merely living her late pregnancy life a bit ahead of schedule.
The maternity meals were already set on the table, each person facing a bowl of rice and a nutritious soup made from chicken, longan, and some other ingredients, featuring both meat and vegetables, but their colors all looked very bland.
Avery Graham took a bite, and it tasted even blander; the ingredients were merely boiled or fried in the pot without any seasoning. Frowning, Avery took a couple more bites but really couldn’t swallow any more.
"Seriously? Carolline Ruiz, is your prenatal life this miserable?" Avery just couldn’t eat anymore and decided to go out for something tastier.
This bland food didn’t suit her, and she needed something flavorful, at least add some salt, right? This bland and tasteless stuff, who could eat it?
"?" Carolline Ruiz was beyond words. Could this be called miserable? Bryan Hawkins had hired some of the most renowned nutritionists in the city, and even the country, to plan her meals, which were naturally meant to be low in salt and seasonings for the good of the fetus.
In fact, doctors knew this, but when practical application came into play, not many could actually manage it.
Carolline was a person who didn’t fuss much, moreover, she knew all this was Bryan Hawkins looking out for her and their child.
Furthermore, she could handle bland food and also accept strong flavors.
Avery Graham left early, and Carolline didn’t make it difficult for her.
After eating, Carolline went for her noon rest. Her current life was incredibly regimented; Bryan Hawkins would do the same at home on the weekends, only in the morning, afternoon, and evening, he would accompany her for walks.
When she wasn’t out walking, she’d stay at home listening to music, reading, leading a serene and simple life.
She didn’t think her days were as pitiful as Avery thought.
However, Avery didn’t think so; she felt that if she were pregnant and constrained by Bernard Taylor like that, she would definitely go crazy, which was why she decided that before she got pregnant, she needed to set some clear rules with Bernard Taylor.
She was not like Carolline Ruiz; she couldn’t live that way and wouldn’t accept such a life devoid of freedom.
After running out, Avery found a Hot Pot restaurant which now is not called Hot Pot but something else like spicy stir-fry. She ordered a variety of dishes for them to prepare.
Latter, with a bowl of spicy stir-fry, she ate three bowls of rice, finally feeling satisfied.
Having eaten, she thought of going to the pharmacy to buy some emergency contraception. After buying it, she couldn’t eat it yet; the instructions stated it needed to be taken two hours after eating.
She casually stuffed the emergency contraception into her bag, planning to take it two hours later.
Just as she was about to start driving, Avery got a call from Bernard Taylor. She answered, "Hello."
"Where are you?" Bernard Taylor was currently in the Cake Shop. Charles Barkley had asked him to take photos with the Marriage Certificate, and when he told them that he hadn’t gotten it yet, Charles was a bit disappointed but didn’t say much in the end.
"I’ve just left Carolline’s place, and I’ve already eaten," Avery thought he probably wanted to meet up for lunch since it was only half-past twelve.
"Yeah, I’m at your shop. If you don’t have other plans later, come join me for lunch," Bernard Taylor requested.
"Alright, I actually have something I need to discuss with you." Avery hung up and drove toward the Cake Shop, which was preparing to open newly on May Day. Hence, when Bernard said he was at the shop, he meant the second location.
Upon arriving at the Cake Shop, everyone was having lunch, all hosted by Bernard Taylor. Instead of opting for fast food, Bernard took Avery’s hand, leading her out to find a place to eat.
Avery smelled strongly of spicy food, which made Bernard frown, "Is Carolline’s house still preparing such strong-flavored dishes for you?"
"Of course not, from Carolline’s. You don’t know; her pregnancy life is simply unbearable. The food is so bland and flavorless, who can eat it? Only Carolline can endure it," Avery couldn’t bear to think about that food.
"So, you didn’t eat there and ran out instead?" Bernard Taylor guessed the rest.
Actually, being a past doctor himself, he surely knew Bryan Hawkins was doing it for the pregnant woman’s and their child’s best interests, but admittedly, it was perhaps too extreme; if the pregnant woman truly couldn’t stand it, their taste could be accommodated moderately.
