Chapter 1033: 022 I want your commitment_7

"So you’re saying Adelle Turner’s baby isn’t yours? You dare say you haven’t had sex with her before? Giselle said there’s video evidence of you two doing it, are those videos fake? Besides, I don’t really want to talk about you and Adelle. It’s meaningless to me, but Michael Auclair, as a man and even as an onlooker, I think the way you’ve treated Adelle, a pregnant woman, is wrong; your behavior is disheartening."

Avery Graham spoke the truth. If Michael Auclair could treat Adelle, who was carrying his child, in such a way, then if it had been her choosing to spend her life with Michael Auclair, would her fate be the same as Adelle’s once he grew tired of her?

"..." Michael Auclair couldn’t rebuttal. Because of the videos that Bernard Taylor had, he really didn’t have the face to say much more to Avery Graham, but he truly regretted it.

"Alright, Michael Auclair, please leave; I really don’t want to see you. Go do what you should be doing, be with the person you should be with," Avery said and then went into the shop.

Her Cake Shop was a business open to the public and still in its early stages of development, so unlike Emperory, she couldn’t afford to black-list customers, though, of course, she hoped that one day her Lala Cake Shop could be as capricious in choosing customers as Emperory.

Lunchtime had just arrived, and Avery had originally planned to treat the staff to fast food, but then Bernard Taylor showed up with a large bouquet of flowers; from afar, it was truly quite large. Perhaps there weren’t 999 roses, but there were indeed many.

Aside from the bright red roses in Bernard’s hands, he also carried two bags of stuff and had a red brocade box tucked into his jacket pocket, which contained an engagement ring.

Avery just stood there, dumbstruck, as Bernard strutted into her shop with confidence. Before she could react, the staff had already started to tease, "Wow, is Boss Bernard here to propose? So handsome."

"Looks like we’ll enjoy a big feast for lunch," another staff member covered her mouth, clearly delighted.

"Really, really, it must be so!"

Hearing the chatter of these folks, Avery pursed her lips as she walked over, "Didn’t we agree to meet in front of the Civil Affairs Bureau?"

Avery said this in an undertone, but those mischievous staff heard her anyway, "Are the two bosses getting married? Are you inviting us for wedding wine?"

"..." Avery was speechless and ultimately passed the question to Bernard to answer. Since he’d made such a show of it, he could handle it himself.

As a result, Bernard stepped forward, open and honest, "Whether you’ll have wedding wine to drink this year will depend on your help later. If the proposal is successful, I’ll treat you to a big meal at lunch, afternoon tea as well, and dinner’s on me too. How about it?"

"Alright, thanks to Boss Bernard." Naturally, the staff were jubilant, clapping and cheering.

Avery rolled her eyes; this man truly was becoming more shameless.

Following that, Bernard, holding the flowers and taking the ring box out from his pocket, came before Avery and knelt down on one knee to propose, "Avery, give me a chance to take care of you for the rest of your life, okay?"

There was no grand declaration of love, just a simple desire to spend a lifetime together.

A lifetime was sufficient.

The staff members started to cheer loudly, chanting, ’Say yes to him, say yes to him’, even though they secretly wished to say, ’Boss Bernard, isn’t your proposal a bit too generic?’

But for the sake of lunch, dinner, and afternoon tea, even the most ordinary proposal lines had to earn the leading lady’s yes.

"Come on, get up," Avery said exasperatedly. The fact that she had brought her ID card and Resident Book with her was proof enough that she had already agreed to him; yet, he still had to put on this display.

Actually, she wasn’t a woman who cared much about romance. Her parents’ life was practical and steady, and what she aspired to was a solid marriage, a grounded life.

"Boss Bernard, our Boss Avery has accepted you; come on, get up and put the ring on her," the people nearby cheered before Bernard could recover from his surprise.

Bernard truly hadn’t expected Avery to accept so simply. He felt touched but also a bit guilty because everything was so rushed and he hadn’t meticulously prepared anything, yet Avery was not picky.

Although the ring was the best, Bernard placed it on Avery’s finger, the diamond as large as a pigeon’s egg, gleaming under the sunlight.

"No way? Boss Bernard, you’re using such a big diamond ring for the proposal; how much larger will the wedding ring be for us mere mortals to marvel at?" One of the braver employees rushed over, picked up Avery’s hand, and seeing the pigeon egg-sized diamond ring on her ring finger, exclaimed in awe.

"You’ll see when the time comes," Bernard teased, then he pulled out his wallet and took out a wad of cash, "Here, this is for your lunch and afternoon tea. For tonight, let someone handle the finances and hand me the bill later."

"Long live Boss Bernard."

Amidst everyone’s cheers, Bernard wrapped his arms around Avery and walked outside.

After making sure Avery settled into the car, he then turned back to the driving cabin and left with a satisfied smile, driving away.
