Chapter 1032: 022 I want your commitment_6

"At three in the afternoon, bring your documents, and we’ll meet at the entrance of the Civil Affairs Bureau."

Avery Graham felt a bit dizzy. Was this man really serious about following through?

While she was stunned, thinking that Bernard Taylor was just being impulsive—although he had passed the hurdle with her parents—what about Nancy Sallow and Jacob Taylor’s attitudes? Would they accept her as their daughter-in-law? She didn’t even know that yet, and now they were going straight to the Civil Affairs Bureau to get their marriage certificate without their consent?

Avery decided to ignore it and just as she was about to open the door to inspect her store, Bernard Taylor called her, "Have you brought your Resident Book and ID card?"

"Bernard, you’ve won over my parents, but what about yours? Do they approve of our relationship now? Isn’t it too hasty for us to go get our certificate without their blessing?" Avery was truly worried. If Nancy Sallow found out that she and Bernard Taylor had officially become boyfriend and girlfriend, she might turn against her.

Before, what was said might have been one thing, but with some people, what they do could be entirely different; hence, she was still apprehensive.

Plus, having just met each other’s parents and now rushing to get the certificate, she also felt that the pace was too fast for her to accept.

"Then I’ll let my mom talk to you." Bernard directly handed the phone to Nancy Sallow.

Afterward, when Avery heard Nancy Sallow’s voice, she understood that the person who had sent the text message earlier was Nancy Sallow, not Bernard, and Bernard’s call asking about the documents was actually in complete agreement with Nancy Sallow’s unilateral decision.

After listening to Nancy Sallow’s explanation, Avery no longer had any excuses, and the phone was passed back to Bernard. His pressing insistence finally left her without any room to refuse.

She had to turn back and put both her ID card and Resident Book into her bag.

Previously, after Bernard had dealt with the property certificate, he had returned the documents to her, and she had not yet had the chance to take them back home to her mother.

When Avery reached the store, Michael Auclair just happened to be shopping there, and the smile that was originally on her face suddenly froze.

Before, she didn’t find it awkward to face Michael Auclair, but ever since that day, when they bumped into each other, and he left Adelle Turner, who was pregnant and chasing after him, Avery thought such a person was quite dreadful.

She walked by, and because she disliked him, she decided not to greet him.

However, Michael called her, "Avery, are you free at noon? I’d like to treat you to lunch."

"No, I have plans this afternoon." Avery replied directly and took a few steps forward, then turned back and said, "Michael, when you have time, you should spend more time with Adelle. It’s really not easy for a woman to go through pregnancy and childbirth."

Hearing Avery say this, Michael’s face suddenly changed.

"Today I saw Bernard coming out of your house, with Giselle Browman," after a long pause, Michael finally spoke again, but his words only made Avery more displeased.

"Are you spying on me?" Avery couldn’t believe Michael was being so creepy. They had broken up, hadn’t they? It was his idea to break up in the first place, so what was his motive for acting like this now?

"No, I originally wanted to check on you yesterday. Then I saw Bernard coming out of the store to buy something, and then..." Then he had waited there all night and hadn’t seen Bernard leave, all the way till this morning when he saw Bernard, looking pleased with himself, leaving the Residential Area with Giselle Browman as Bernard’s driver waited for him outside the neighborhood.

Bernard was still wearing the clothes from the previous evening.

He knew then that Bernard had spent the night at Avery’s place, and that was a privilege he had never experienced during the long time he was with Avery. This meant that Avery did treat people differently.

"Bernard is now my boyfriend, and it’s normal for him to stay over. But you, coming over in the middle of the night wanting to see me, do you think that’s fair to Adelle?" Avery took Michael outside with her, and once outside, she spoke a bit louder to him. This man really was a scumbag, even worse than what Carolline Ruiz had guessed.

Who did he think he was, and how handsome did he think he was, to believe he could play around with two women so carelessly?

"I really have nothing going on with Adelle, Avery..." Michael attempted to defend himself.
