Chapter 1031: 022 I want your commitment_5
By then, she had to strut around the office without restraint. Giselle Browman fantasized about her beautiful future life—of course, there was no need to show off in front of others; it would be enough just to flaunt in front of Alvin Morris.
"Vengeful?" Bernard Taylor and Avery Graham asked in unison. After the question, they exchanged a glance, and finally it was Avery who continued, "You say he’s taking revenge on you? What for?"
"Isn’t it just because last time I went home for a meal, he called me, and I didn’t answer, and later I even turned off my phone? Who would let him exploit me the day before? I’m not stupid. There’s no reason to not enjoy my holiday and let him trample over me every day, right?" Giselle Browman pouted. Actually, after the holiday ended and she went back to work, she was a bit nervous, but after she found out that Alvin Morris didn’t plan to give her any trouble, she gradually calmed down. Who knew that this guy could be so petty? It really proves the saying ’A gentleman’s revenge is not too late even after ten years.’
Bernard bowed his head and chuckled softly. He actually knew a little about the situation that day.
Specifically, it should be that Alvin Morris knew Giselle had had a hard day on the first day, so he carefully prepared a series of activities, originally intended for Giselle to join him as a date. He even had in mind to confess his feelings to Giselle that day, but surprisingly, she didn’t answer the phone and even turned it off.
Alvin was really frustrated. Unable to get through the phone, and it wasn’t possible for him to just show up at her door, especially since Giselle lived with her sister. He wasn’t even official with her yet, so he felt embarrassed to show his face in front of Giselle’s family.
In the end, that day turned out to be him spending it with Alvin, accompanying him through his gloom all day long. It was also on that day that he learned of Alvin’s feelings for Giselle.
Alvin Morris had never actively pursued a girl. Over the years, his attention had always been on his work. Now with some success, the pressure to get married from his family was intense, but Alvin always held his ground.
Even though he was getting older, he still hoped, in his naïve way, to find a woman he genuinely liked to date, and that’s how Giselle Browman ended up being brought into the company.
He really just provided Giselle with an interview opportunity. Whether she could succeed was entirely up to her own abilities. Turned out she did pretty well, impressing the HR department enough to keep her. Then, based on her qualifications and experience, she was assigned to Alvin’s department. How the sparks between them started, he wasn’t quite sure.
By the time he knew about it, he was aware that Alvin had already fallen for her.
He actually quite supported Alvin in his pursuit of Giselle. He knew Giselle had no shortage of suitors, and this girl, maybe naturally dense or just hadn’t caught on, hadn’t realized it yet.
Well, that kind of thing, he’d leave it to Alvin to handle. He wouldn’t interfere anymore.
"Maybe he really did have something important that day he tried to reach you for. Yesterday it was Mr. Morris who brought you back, wasn’t it? I think he’s pretty nice. Are you sure you’re not misunderstanding him?" Avery already knew about Alvin Morris liking Giselle Browman, so she was speaking up for him.
She thought that Giselle could also start dating; otherwise, she’d probably worry herself sick this year. Previously, at least she had her, a long-in-the-tooth bachelorette, to deflect the pressure. Considering Bernard’s eagerness, she guessed she might get married this year too.
She really didn’t oppose marrying Bernard, so she willingly accepted her status as a married woman.
At that time, it would only be Giselle holding the fort at their house.
"I got drunk; it’s all his fault. Shouldn’t he have brought me back home? Alright, let’s not talk about him anymore. Sis, I really hate him a lot. I’ve never met a man as annoying as him. Okay, I’m done eating. Bernard, are you going back to the office? Can I catch a ride with your carpool? Is that okay?"
She didn’t want to squeeze onto the subway anymore; taking the subway every day was truly annoying. She also didn’t want to rely on Avery to drive her every day. Avery was the boss; she didn’t need to get up early or report to the Cake Shop on time every day.
"Yeah, heading back, let’s go together," Bernard quickly finished the porridge at the bottom of his bowl. He had already called the driver to pick him up.
Avery didn’t join them. She stayed to tidy up the house a bit, then changed clothes, preparing to head to the shop. When she left the house, she received a text message from Bernard.
