Chapter 1029: 022 I want your commitment_3

"My coffee is burnt." Avery Graham grumbled. She had never burnt coffee before; it was all Bernard Taylor’s fault. Now, let him sip on the burnt coffee.

Only now did Bernard Taylor notice the acrid smell wafting from the kitchen. He quickly let go of Avery Graham, turned off the stove, and took the coffee pot off the heat.

Avery was extremely annoyed; her high-quality coffee beans had gone to waste.

Bernard glanced at her and suddenly burst into laughter. Avery glared at him, "Laugh it up, it’s all because you wanted coffee and now look at it. My good reputation is ruined all because of you."

"Alright, alright, don’t be mad. I’ll have someone compensate you for the coffee beans tomorrow. I’ll skip coffee today, okay? Consider it my punishment." Bernard drew her into his embrace, laughing heartily. He didn’t understand why, but even though Avery clearly seemed angry, she looked incredibly adorable to him, adorably lovable at that.

Avery pushed him away, "Deal with the kitchen yourself."

Bernard nodded in agreement. Avery left, and just then the doorbell rang. She went to open the door and saw Alvin Morris supporting Giselle Browman outside. Alvin introduced himself, "Miss Graham, I’m Alvin Morris."

"Mr. Morris, hello, thank you for bringing Giselle home. Sorry for the trouble." Seeing Giselle leaning on Alvin with a flushed face, Avery shook her head internally. If her mother saw this, Giselle would be in for another lecture.

"It’s no trouble at all, Miss Graham. Today was indeed my fault for not thinking things through, my mistake. Tonight, I’m afraid it’s you who’ll need to take good care of her." Alvin apologized proactively.

In fact, he had planned today’s events intentionally.

He had heard Giselle cheerfully agree to come home early, but then he remembered the day he called her and she not only didn’t answer but eventually turned her phone off. So, even though Giselle didn’t need to attend today’s gathering, he specifically asked her to.

Later on, when people were clearly trying to get Giselle to drink more, he didn’t say a word. Little did he know, Giselle barely had a few drinks before she was out of sorts.

If it hadn’t been for Avery’s call, he might not have intended to bring her home tonight at all. He could have taken care of her himself, or confessed his feelings after she sobered up. But since Avery called, and she was listed as "sister" on Giselle’s phone, he felt compelled to answer.

When Avery got straight to the point and asked when Giselle would be home, he had no choice but to alter his plans and bring Giselle back.

"It’s no problem, I should do it. Mr. Morris, another thing, that’s not the way to chase a girl. You need to understand her first, know what she wants, then your chances of success will be higher. Also, my sister can be quite dense; you’ll need to be patient." Avery said with a smile. She rather approved of Alvin Morris; he looked mature and decent. While Alvin was stunned, Avery continued, "Thank you for bringing Giselle home. I won’t see you out. Take care."

Alvin Morris watched as the door was shut in his face. His secret crush on Giselle was known to only one person in the world, it seemed. He had been betrayed by his best bro.

But did Avery’s words mean she was acknowledging his pursuit of her sister?

Considering this possibility, Alvin, who had been quite upset before, suddenly didn’t feel mad at Bernard Taylor anymore; in fact, he felt grateful to him.

Avery helped Giselle back to her room, and Bernard brought a basin of water. He had heard the doorbell and knew Alvin was there but didn’t show his face, not wanting Alvin to know he was also there tonight.

Bernard left, and Avery wiped Giselle down, changed her into pajamas, covered her with a cool blanket, and decided that if Giselle was this drunk, anything else would have to wait until tomorrow.

When Avery came out of Giselle’s room, she saw Bernard lounging on the living room sofa, watching TV. Avery frowned, "So you really aren’t planning on leaving, huh?"

"Are you planning on going back on your word?" Bernard raised an eyebrow and countered. He truly didn’t want to leave tonight, even if Avery didn’t feel like giving him a birth certificate, he was resolved to stay over.
