Chapter 26: Definitely there most be something wrong

Julie’s eyes were wide awake as she gazed at the ceiling above, her mind racing with thoughts of Roman.

She couldn’t help but think about the way he carried himself with such confidence and elegance, yet there were moments when his true nature peeked through.

"He is someone to be conscious around," she said to herself, her voice barely above a whisper.

Despite his natural charm and gentlemanly demeanor, Julie couldn’t shake off the feeling that Roman was a complex person, full of contradictions.

One moment he was suave and collected, and the next, he was intense and brooding. She wondered what lay beneath his polished exterior, what secrets he kept hidden.

Meanwhile, in the restroom, Roman took a deep breath as he washed his face in front of the mirror. The cool water seemed to revive him, and he suddenly felt the urge to strip off his clothes.

The water cascaded down his body, and Roman stood there, rooted to the spot, his eyes closed, allowing himself to relax.

The sound of the water was soothing, and Roman let out a slow breath, feeling his muscles relax. He stood there for a few moments, letting the water wash away his tension.

After a while, the bathroom door creaked open, and Roman emerged, a towel wrapped around his waist.

Julie, who was quietly lying on the bed, still looking at the ceiling, quickly turned herself over, acting asleep.

Her heart skipped a beat as she heard Roman’s footsteps approaching. She could sense his presence, even without looking at him.

As Roman walked toward the walk-in closet, his phone suddenly started ringing. He stopped in his tracks, his brow furrowing as he tried to locate the source of the sound.

Walking over to the couch, he spotted Julie lying on it, and his eyes narrowed as he realized the ringing was coming from underneath her.

"Hmm," Roman hummed, a hint of amusement dancing in his voice.

He bend down, his movements fluid and effortless, and carefully lifted Julie into his arms. As he cradled her close to his chest, Julie felt a rush of emotions, her heart pounding in her chest.

Roman’s face was inches from hers, and Julie could feel his warm breath on her skin. She kept her eyes closed, trying not to reveal that she was awake.

Roman’s arms were strong and secure, and she felt a sense of safety in his embrace.

As Roman gently placed her on the bed, his hands brushed against her skin, sending shivers down her spine.

Julie’s eyes were closed, but she couldn’t help but smile slightly, her lips twitching upward. ’He is so caring,’ she thought, her heart warming up to him.

Roman pulled the blanket over her, his fingers grazing her skin. He looked at her for a moment, his expression softening, before turning away and walking back to the couch to pick up his phone.

Julie felt a pang of disappointment as he moved away, but she remained still, pretending to be asleep.

Just as Roman picked up the phone, the ringing stopped, and he tossed the phone onto the couch, not bothering to call the person back. He walked away, leaving Julie to her thoughts.

After Julie heard the door close, she slowly opened her eyes, her gaze drifting to the door of the closet. A soft smile spread across her face as she thought about Roman’s gentle side.

"Why with that unbothered attitude while you have such a gentle side," Julie said, her voice barely above a whisper.

With that thought in mind, Julie’s eyelids grew heavy, and she slowly drifted off to sleep, exhausted from the day’s events. The darkness enveloped her, and she felt safe, surrounded by the silence of the dim lit room.

Roman’s natural behavior and actions towards Julie weren’t a façade; they were a reflection of his true self.

He was a gentleman, genuine and authentic, with a simple yet elegant demeanor. However, a sudden betrayal had changed everything, leaving scars that still lingered.

Now, after meeting Julie, Roman’s control seemed to be slipping. The walls he had built around himself were slowly crumbling, and his true nature was beginning to shine through.

Despite his efforts to maintain a composed exterior, Julie had somehow managed to pierce through his defenses, exposing the real Roman beneath.

After getting ready, Roman picked up his phone and sat on the couch to make the call. However, remembering that Julie was sleeping, he immediately got up and went out of the room to call the person back, not wanting to disturb her.

In the living room, Roman sat on the couch, leaned in, and dialed the person who had called him earlier. The person on the other end was none other than his younger brother, Azazel.

Meanwhile, Azazel was lying lazily on his bed when he saw his brother’s name flashing on his screen. Thrilled, he quickly answered the call.

"Hello, bro, long time no see! Where have you been all these days? I’ve missed you so much. Please, where are you?" Azazel asked in one breath.

Roman’s response was calm and collected. "Now that you’ve finished saying what you want to say, hear me out," Roman said, his tone firm but gentle.

Azazel’s tone changed instantly, and he became serious. "Where’s Grandma?" Roman asked, and Azazel quickly replied, "Where else could she be? She’s in her room or probably the garden.

"Good, now hear me out," Roman said, and Azazel’s ears perked up. "Yes, bro, I’m all ears," Azazel said, his voice serious and attentive.

Roman’s request caught Azazel off guard. "I want you to bring some maids from the old house here," Roman said.

Azazel’s eyes widened in surprise. "Again, bro, what did you say?" he asked, seeking clarification.

Roman repeated himself, "I need some maids in the house." Azazel drew a deep breath before asking, "Bro, is something wrong?" He couldn’t understand why his brother would suddenly need maids.

Roman’s response was brief. "No, there’s no such thing." Azazel persisted, "Then, if there’s nothing, what’s happened? Why the sudden change, bro?"

Roman sighed, tired of listening to his brother’s questions. "Stop all this. Just bring those maids to my mansion," he said firmly.

Azazel asked, "Wait, wait, bro. How many?" Roman replied, "Six, two men, four women." Azazel nodded, even though his brother couldn’t see him.

As Roman was about to hang up, Azazel spoke up. "My greetings to Grandma, and mind you, work hard and don’t slack off.

I know you’re at home; you should be at the base right now." Azazel also asked if he could rest for the day, but Roman had already hung up.

Sighing, Azazel left his messy room and headed to his grandma’s room.

However, he spotted her through the window, sitting on a bench in the garden. He headed there, calling out to her.

"Sunshine granny," Azazel called out, pretending to look for her. "Here I am," she replied loudly, and Azazel smiled, knowing his acting skills had paid off.

As he sat down beside her, Azazel said, "Guess who called,"

His grandma’s interest was piqued, and she immediately said, "Roman." Azazel nodded, "Yes, he called me earlier and said I should send his greetings to you."

Lisa’s face lit up with excitement. "Oh, my child, did you ask him where he is so we should go and see him? Did you ask him how he’s doing?" she asked, her questions tumbling out rapidly.

Azazel chuckled and stopped her. "Beautiful Lisa, please take a breath. I wouldn’t like you fainting because you lack breathing, okay?"

As Azazel informed his grandma about Roman’s request for maids, Lisa’s expression changed. "Finally, finally," she said, her face beaming with joy.

Azazel raised an eyebrow, intrigued by her reaction. "What do you mean, Grandma?" he asked, curious about her sudden enthusiasm.

"Finally, finally," Lisa said, her face breaking into a wide smile. Azazel found her reaction strange, and his curiosity was piqued.

"What are you saying ’finally’ for, beautiful Lisa?" Azazel asked, his eyes narrowing slightly as he tried to understand her enthusiasm.

Lisa’s smile grew even wider as she began to explain. "Did you forget how your brother hates to have someone in the house, especially maids? Though they have their quarters, he always says they’re noisy.

" She paused for a moment, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

"And now, suddenly, he wants you to bring maids to the house. This is a good sign that he’s changing, don’t you know? We should thank God; maybe finally, it’s his time to change and settle down with someone," Lisa said, her voice filled with hope and joy.

Azazel listened to his grandma’s words, a thoughtful expression on his face. "Hmm, maybe your dream is about to come true," he said, standing up.

He couldn’t help but notice the excitement in Lisa’s eyes, and it made him wonder what she was really hoping for.

As Azazel stood up, Lisa’s gaze locked onto his. "I will be going by the way you are happy; it definitely shows that you agree to take some of your maids to him, right?" Azazel asked, seeking clarification.

Lisa nodded enthusiastically. "Of course, what are you waiting for? Go and get ready. I will select the skilled ones before you come out. Hurry up; you shouldn’t keep him waiting," she said, her words tumbling out rapidly.

With that, Lisa quickly got up and started walking, her pace even faster than Azazel’s.

Azazel’s mouth hung open in surprise as he watched his grandma hurry off. He couldn’t help but chuckle at her energy and enthusiasm.

As he followed Lisa, Azazel couldn’t shake off the feeling that something significant was happening.

His brother’s sudden request for maids had brought a spark of hope to Lisa’s eyes, and Azazel wondered what the future held for Roman.

With a thoughtful expression, Azazel trailed behind Lisa, watching as she selected the maids with care.

He knew that Roman’s decision to have maids in the house was out of character, and it would be interesting to see how this new development would unfold.
