Chapter 25: Though even if something happened you don’t
Julie’s mind wandered as she stepped out of the car and into the crisp evening air. The mansion’s facade loomed before her, its white walls gleaming in the fading light. She gazed blankly at the grandeur, her thoughts consumed by the whirlwind of emotions that had been swirling inside her.
Without noticing the intricate carvings or the perfectly manicured lawns, she walked absently toward the entrance, her feet carrying her on autopilot.
The mansion stood tall and proud, its white facade gleaming in the sunlight like a beacon of opulence.
The sprawling estate was surrounded by lush greenery, with manicured bushes and towering trees that seemed to stretch up to the sky.
The property was guarded by imposing stone pillars, adorned with intricate carvings, which flanked the grand entrance.
As the car wound its way up the driveway, the mansion’s grandeur became increasingly apparent.
The building’s facade was punctuated by rows of gleaming windows, their crystal panes reflecting the sun’s rays like a thousand tiny diamonds.
The roof was a masterpiece of architecture, with curved tiles and ornate finials that added to the mansion’s regal charm.
Guards in crisp, tailored suits stood at attention around the perimeter of the property, their eyes scanning the surroundings with a mixture of vigilance and professionalism.
The air was thick with an aura of luxury and security, a testament to the mansion’s status as a private sanctuary for the wealthy and powerful.
As she pushed open the door, she was greeted by the warm glow of soft lighting and the gentle hum of silence.
The interior was just as breathtaking as the exterior, with intricate moldings, sweeping staircases, and plush carpets that seemed to stretch on forever.
The air was thick with the scent of fresh flowers, and the sound of soft music drifted through the halls.
Julie’s eyes glazed over as she walked down the hallway, her footsteps echoing off the walls.
She stopped abruptly in front of a blank wall, confusion etched on her face. "What is happening? Where is the door?" she muttered to herself.
Roman’s deep voice cut through the silence, making Julie flinch. "You’ll find it upstairs," he said, his words sending a shiver down her spine.
Julie spun around, her eyes locking onto Roman’s chiseled features. His eyes seemed to bore into her soul, their intensity making her feel vulnerable.
"But my room is here. What did it suddenly disappear like that?" she asked, her brow furrowed in confusion.
Roman’s expression remained impassive, but a hint of amusement danced in his eyes. "Didn’t you take note of your surroundings?" he asked, his voice low and smooth. fre eweb\(n)ovel(.)co(m)
As Julie turned to take in her surroundings, her gaze landed on the luxurious living room.
The room was a masterpiece of design, with sleek lines, plush furnishings, and artwork that seemed to leap off the walls.
A grand chandelier hung from the ceiling, casting a kaleidoscope of colors across the room. The walls were adorned with lavish tapestries, and the floor was made of polished marble that seemed to shine like glass.
Julie’s eyes widened as she took in the opulence, her hand trailing over the plush couch.
The fabric was soft and inviting, and she couldn’t help but sink into its depths. "When did we come here?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Roman’s poker face was firmly in place, but Julie caught a glimpse of a smile playing on his lips. "Follow me," he said, turning to walk away.
Julie quickly followed, her eyes darting around the hallway as they ascended the stairs.
The staircase curved upward like a ribbon, the banister polished to a high shine. As they reached the top, Roman turned right, then left, leading Julie down a long corridor lined with doors.
The doors were adorned with intricate carvings, and the walls were painted a soothing shade of cream.
The last door on the right was different from the others, its black finish gleaming in the soft light. Roman turned the knob and pushed open the door, stepping aside to let Julie enter.
As she walked into the room, Julie’s eyes scanned the space, taking in the sleek lines and modern furnishings. The room was dominated by a massive bed, its headboard a work of art in itself.
A black couch sat in one corner, and Roman settled onto it, his eyes fixed on Julie. The room was dimly lit, with only a few soft lamps casting a warm glow.
"What are you doing standing there? Come closer and sit. We need to talk," Roman said, his voice low and husky.
Julie hesitated, her hand still on the door handle. Slowly, she made her way over to the couch, her eyes never leaving Roman’s face. As she sat down, she felt a sense of trepidation wash over her.
What did Roman want to talk about? And why did she feel like she was walking into uncharted territory?
Roman’s eyes seemed to bore into her soul, their intensity making her feel like he could see right through her.
Julie shifted uncomfortably, her heart racing with anticipation. What did the future hold? And what did Roman have planned for her?
While Julie recognized the room as Roman’s, she couldn’t help but feel a sense of awe at the elegance and confidence that permeated the space.
The massive bed stood tall and proud, much like its owner, and everything in the room was shrouded in black, except for the warm yellow glow of light that emanated from the bulb on the knight stand beside the bed.
’Why did he suddenly bring me to his room?’ Julie thought nervously. The room seemed to embody the essence of a vampire prince’s lair, dark and mysterious.
She had no idea that this was Roman’s favorite mansion, a place he often retreated to when he needed solitude.
As Julie slowly walked over to where Roman was sitting, she felt a sense of trepidation. She sat down on the other side of the couch, trying to put some distance between them. But just as her buttocks landed on the plush couch, Roman spoke up.
"Come here and sit down," Roman ordered with an unbothered expression, his eyes locked onto hers.
Julie hesitated, unsure of what to do. "There?" she asked, trying to confirm, her eyes darting to the couch.
Roman’s gaze never wavered as he patted the space beside him. "Yes, here," he said, his voice firm but calm.
Julie’s heart skipped a beat as she slowly got up from her seat, her mind racing with thoughts.
’What is in his mind to ask me to come and sit close to him?’ she wondered, her anxiety growing with each step.
She slowly sat down beside him on the couch, trying to avoid any physical contact. Julie didn’t have the courage to say anything, her eyes fixed on her palms as she waited for Roman to speak.
"One of the rules in our contract will be changed," Roman said, his deep voice sending a shiver down her spine.
Julie’s head jerked up, her curiosity piqued. "The one that says what?" she asked carefully, trying to gauge the situation.
Roman’s eyes seemed to gleam in the dim light as he declared, "The one that says we will have separate rooms will be changed to occupying the same room.
" Julie’s eyes widened in shock, and she immediately raised her head to look at him.
Seeing her reaction, Roman couldn’t help but laugh. ’God, what is she thinking of, that she’s shocked like this just because I said we’re going to share a room?’ he thought, amusement dancing in his eyes.
But as he looked at Julie’s frightened expression, his laughter stopped abruptly, and his eyes narrowed.
’Wait, is she afraid, thinking I’ll do something to her?’ he wondered, his expression turning serious. "Don’t be afraid like that," Roman said suddenly, his voice low and soothing.
Julie’s brow rose in skepticism. "Why won’t I be? Sharing a room with a man, of course, I should be cautious," she said reasonably, her voice steady despite the turmoil inside her.
Roman’s eyes locked onto hers, and for a moment, they just stared at each other, the tension between them palpable.
You don’t have to," Roman said, his voice low and smooth. Julie shook her head, her brow furrowed in confusion. "Why?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Hearing her question, Roman’s smirk grew, and he leaned forward, his eyes locked onto hers.
Because she was so close, Roman didn’t need to move any closer to tower above her, and Julie’s eyes widened in alarm. She felt a shiver run down her spine as Roman’s presence enveloped her.
Looking at the girl who was frightened under him, Roman’s smirk turned into an evil grin. "Because I don’t bite, so feel at ease," Roman said, feeling happy as he teased the girl by leaning in closer while he was talking. His eyes seemed to dance with amusement, and Julie’s fear intensified.
As Roman looked directly into her eyes, he started feeling his heart beating faster. The proximity was affecting him more than he expected, and he quickly got up, the chair scraping against the floor.
The sudden movement broke the spell, and Julie let out a breath she didn’t know she was holding.
Leaving Julie lying down on the bed, staring at the ceiling, she was greatly cut by surprise.
Instead of feeling relieved, Julie was now afraid of him much more. Roman’s actions had sent her senses into overdrive, and she couldn’t shake off the feeling of vulnerability.
Walking a few steps toward the bathroom, Roman stopped and said without turning around, "Though even if something happened, we’re married. You don’t have to worry about that." His voice was calm and collected, but Julie’s mind was racing.
While Julie lay flat on the couch, she realized she needed to be more cautious around him. Roman’s words and actions had left her feeling unsettled, and she couldn’t help but wonder what other surprises he had in store for her.
