Chapter 991: Chapter 542: A Chilling Presence!_3
Sean Knight watched for a while but noticing no change, he expanded his observation range.
Taking that point as the center, he spread his gaze outwards, circle by circle...
There was noise!
Suddenly, Sean saw two people fiddling with something at a slightly prominent spot about 500 meters away from the two cars, closer to the direction of the runway.
Missiles!
Damn it!
Though Sean was not a military enthusiast, he recognized at first glance that it was not the outdated stinger missile!
By its size and shape, it seemed to be a Javelin?
Sean became furious at once!
This was definitely targeting his airplane!
What were these people doing?
Daring to target him?
He aimed with his sniper rifle and found it was out of range.
He couldn’t hit them.
He immediately contacted Elijah Hastings:
"Elijah, at your 11 o’clock, about four kilometers away, there are two people fiddling with a Javelin missile..."
"Missiles? Damn it, they’re targeting our airplane!" Elijah realized immediately, "Boss, keep an eye out, I’m going to get them!"
"Good, have the others take cover first, it’s best if just you and Douglas go. We’ll report the situation at any time."
Through his telescope, Sean already saw Elijah speaking briefly to Douglas Cooper, instructing the others, then quickly made his way towards the direction Sean pointed out.
Sean then scanned the other directions and, seeing no one else, he watched the targeted spot with peace of mind.
If it weren’t for needing to act as a spotter for Elijah and the others, Sean would probably have made his way there himself.
These two guys must not be allowed to escape!
The people by the car were likely part of the same group.
They couldn’t be spared either!
Sean extended his sniper rifle as far as he could, still out of reach.
Then he thought as soon as Elijah and the others reached the spot, he would head towards the cars and then, boom, damn it all!
That was the plan. As Elijah moved, Sean followed along the mountain ridge, trying to get closer to the cars’ location.
Fifty minutes passed, and Elijah and Douglas had reached the mountain foot where the two men were located, then slowed their movements.
Both had excellent night vision, keeping silent upon sighting their target.
Sean knew Elijah had the target marked and immediately hurried towards the direction of the cars.
At that moment, at the mountain peak, the two men setting up the Javelin missile were chatting.
"Fujiwara, how can you be sure that the airplane is definitely Sean’s?"
"Because the nearby tribes are extremely poor, and there are no other resources here that would interest anyone else. Besides, we’re still looking for those supplies that were left behind—"
"Why do we have to shoot down the airplane? You do know this isn’t a trivial matter!"
"Because this Sean has committed unforgivable acts in our country!
Moreover, even if we shoot down the airplane, it’s not from any recognized country, so it won’t cause much of a stir, and China definitely won’t undertake a massive investigation over this.
Don’t worry, we’ve got it covered!"
While they were talking, Fujiwara seemed to feel something and looked back for a moment.
He saw nothing.
To avoid alerting the people with Sean, their location was quite far away.
It was deserted here, and in the middle of the night, it was not likely for humans to appear.
So Fujiwara thought he was just being paranoid.
He continued:
"We hadn’t expected Sean to send a plane over. If we had known earlier, we would’ve shot him down as he landed."
Regret was evident in his words.
How easy it would have been during the day!
Just then, the two men suddenly felt a whoosh of air behind them, but by the time they reacted, it was too late!
Elijah and Douglas took them down swiftly!
Sean, seeing this unfold through his telescope, no longer needed to worry; he trusted that the two men had the skills to subdue their opponents.
Then he dashed quickly towards the cars!
As long as he got within a kilometer range, he could use his rocket to blast them, damn it!
Fujiwara and his companion were caught off guard and, with their skills far inferior to Elijah and Douglas, they were quickly subdued.
Suddenly, Fujiwara spoke:
"Elijah? Douglas?"
Elijah was startled:
"You know us?"
Fujiwara let out a cold laugh, "Hahaha! I never expected you to find this place... but you won’t be pleased for long! We won’t let you continue to be triumphant!"
After speaking, his face suddenly turned blue, blood frothed at his mouth, and he gradually breathed his last.
He was dead.
Elijah and others had not anticipated this, and while surprised, he immediately tossed Fujiwara aside and turned to the white person beside him.
The white person was also taken aback, swallowing hard, and stammered:
"I... I was just hired by him as a mercenary, do you believe me?"
"Talk. What is your name, how many of you are there, what are your positions? What are you doing here..."
Elijah bent down to inspect, confirming the Japanese man was completely dead, and then began to interrogate the white man.
"My name is Jeremy Armstrong, there are seven of us, and we’ve been tracking you for the past few days..."
Jeremy spilled everything he knew—though his knowledge was limited.
As he spoke, Elijah understood they were being watched!
And these people had a backup plan!
He was about to report this to Sean immediately.
"Boss, boss, we’ve secured the individuals, and I have important news to report! We’ve been under surveillance all this time!"
Then he waited for a reply on the walkie-talkie.
But there was no response from the walkie-talkie.
By this time, Sean had reached a place less than a kilometer from the cars.
The cars, for the sake of easy access and concealment, were located in a mountain hollow.
Sean occupied the highpoint, having a clear, downward line of fire.
And he took out a trade version of the rockets he had been sold, one that didn’t need wind consideration.
Sean, with this robust and mindless launcher in hand, aimed at a car situated near the tents.
He believed the force of the blast would be enough to injure the people in the tents.
As for whether they’d die, that was up to fate.
Then, a trail of tail flame erupted, and a rocket hurtled towards the car!
As the light streaked by, Elijah and the others saw it.
Boom—!
