Chapter 992: Chapter 543: Who Wouldn’t Want Such a Big Bargain?

Sean Knight watched as the rocket with its tail flame hurtled towards the two cars, then exploded with a booming blast. He excitedly swung his fist, steady!

What he didn’t know was that, just a few seconds before the rocket was about to hit the cars, a piercing alarm suddenly sounded by the tent!

It turned out that while these people had been resting here, they had set up a radar detection system in the campsite.

The high-speed flying rocket was quickly captured by the continuously operating radar, which then sounded the alarm.

Several people inside the tent, hearing the piercing alarm, quickly burst out. Those with quick reflexes didn’t even bother to see what was coming and ran out desperately, while those who were slower still looked around for the target.

By the time they saw the whistling rocket, it was already too late to run!

The high explosives inside the rocket detonated, and the powerful shockwave tore several bodies apart, scattering rocks, soil, car parts, and tent components into the sky before crashing back down heavily.

Almost no blood could be seen around the site, as the heat had vaporized the blood instantly.

Sean Knight observed the surroundings and noticed that apart from Elijah Hastings and his group quickly heading to the explosion site, there was no other movement elsewhere.

Sean then packed up the launcher and headed towards the explosion site.

Being relatively close, he arrived at the site of the explosion first.

The site was blasted into a hollow place by the rocket, some flammable materials were still burning, and parts of human bodies were scattered around, emitting a burnt smell.

Sean briefly identified and found that there should be four people killed here.

Only one of the four had a relatively intact body.

Nearby, parts of firearms were scattered, and near the tent, Sean also discovered there had been a small sympathetic explosion.

These people had come with quite an arsenal of weapons and ammunition.

After a while, Elijah and the others arrived, and Sean noticed they had brought along the white person they captured.

"Boss, these people were indeed following us," Elijah looked around and, finding no danger, reported to Sean,

"The one I just killed was Japanese. I suspect he is a member of that mysterious organization we encountered in Japan a while back.

Their objective is to follow us and then act like a mantis catching a cicada, poised to take the treasure after you find it."

"How many of them were there?" Sean frowned, noticing that the traces at the scene were a bit chaotic, so he walked further out.

"Seven people."

"Then there is a bit of trouble. If one person is missing, that means someone might have escaped," Sean looked around and continued to expand the search area. Indeed, he found traces of someone’s departure.

"Boss, wait here; we will pursue," Elijah immediately tossed the captive aside upon hearing this and followed the traces.

"Douglas, take the captive back to the base, I’ll have a look as well," Sean didn’t plan to bother with the captive, and after speaking to Douglas Cooper, he chased in the direction Elijah had gone.

Elijah had good night vision, and Sean’s night vision capabilities were even stronger. Both followed the leaving person’s tracks rapidly for about half an hour, then the tracks disappeared on the highway.

"Boss, this person likely got in a car and left from here," Elijah analyzed,

"Otherwise, the tracks wouldn’t have disappeared so completely."

"That’s probably the case."

Disappointed at not catching the person, but there was no help for it.

They headed back together, informed Douglas via Walkie-Talkie, and then hurried back to the base.

The night was quiet around them, and the sound of the explosion had traveled far. When Sean and the others returned, Douglas was already back with the captive, and after briefing the others on the situation, Charles Young also felt the chill of a close call.

If the enemy had attacked like this when the airplane was landing, both he and everyone on the plane would have been doomed.

"Boss, there’s no danger now, right?" Charles was still worried and asked Sean.

"Don’t worry, it’s all good now," Sean nodded. "Prepare yourself, you’ll depart soon, and I’ll be on sentry duty outside for you."

Although Charles was more recent to join Sean’s ranks, he knew of the boss’s capabilities. With Sean assuring him, he was truly at ease and, after resting for a moment, Sean again went to the dominant height near the airport and began observing.

As he said, there were no signs of anyone moving around, and after conveying this to Charles via Walkie-Talkie, Charles began to prepare for takeoff.

The airplane left the runway, ascended smoothly into the night sky, and Sean returned to the base.

"Boss, planes will be taking off and landing here often, right?" Elijah asked Sean.

"Yeah," Sean also felt some worry. If every takeoff and landing required a sentry, it would be truly troublesome, and he was well aware that he wouldn’t always be here, so even placing multiple sentries wouldn’t guarantee surveillance of the whole area.

"We probably can’t keep going like this," Douglas also realized the issue, "The safety risk is too high. But having more sentries would waste too much manpower."

"Think more, there must be a solution," Sean was not that pessimistic, "Where there’s a will, there’s a way."

With Charles scheduled to return only in the morning, the group thought for a while and, failing to come up with a good solution, everyone went to rest.
