Chapter 985: Chapter 540: To Take, First Give_3
Zena Fitzgerald seemed to grasp Sean Knight’s intentions and hurried out.
Half an hour later, Hassan hurried back.
Sean Knight guessed that Zena Fitzgerald had contacted Hassan somehow, and then Hassan returned.
"Mr. Knight, did you want to see me?" Hassan’s face showed both anticipation and confusion.
"Yes," Sean Knight invited Hassan into the house, and at that moment, Zena Fitzgerald came in and served Hassan some tea.
"I think I have found the location of the American Gold Mine Cave."
"Really?" Hassan stood up excitedly upon hearing Sean Knight’s words, accidentally toppling the tea that Zena had brought him.
Zena quickly went to clean up, while Hassan didn’t care at all. He picked up the cup and placed it back on the table, realizing his own gaffe. He composed himself and then said:
"Mr. Knight, I truly didn’t expect you to have really found it..."
In fact, Zack had already gone to report to him.
According to what Zack had said, Hassan thought that Sean Knight had come back empty-handed today.
However, he wasn’t very concerned about that. After all, with such a large area, it wasn’t possible to find it all at once.
But he didn’t expect Sean Knight to say that he had found it!
"It’s true," Sean Knight said, "Today we looked around outside and basically could confirm the location. Additionally,"
Sean Knight paused here, glanced at Hassan, and then at Zena before continuing:
"I’m pretty sure that inside that mine pit, there are also supplies, the ones not taken from the base, probably more than what we found in the Cave Storehouse before..."
"Really?" Elder Hassan stood up excitedly once again!
This time he was even more animated, nearly overturning the table!
He couldn’t help his excitement!
The few dozen tons of supplies they had found before had not even been completely dealt with yet!
From those supplies, some had already been converted into food and living supplies distributed among the tribal residents.
More were exchanged with surrounding tribes for items, and these past few days, Hassan had been busy with such matters.
After all, those new weapons and various tools were indeed hard currency; who in the neighboring tribes wouldn’t want them?
Hassan roughly calculated that just these few dozen tons of supplies could allow everyone in the entire tribe to live comfortably and with peace of mind for two years!
If there were even more supplies, as Sean Knight said, wouldn’t the entire tribe strike it rich?
He couldn’t contain his excitement!
Now, he was the only administrator in the tribe. Though Elder Cameron hadn’t been executed, the tribal residents, especially those who had lost family members, held even bigger grudges against him.
Hassan truly didn’t want Cameron to be executed. Even though they had disagreements, they had fought together for many years and helped each other when they were younger.
If he didn’t want Cameron to be killed, he would have to do more, make the tribal residents’ lives better, and divert the attention of the tribe.
Now that Sean Knight had made such a claim, wasn’t it like delivering a pillow to someone who was dozing off?
"So... so..." Elder Hassan ignored the table this time, asking excitedly, "Then... Mr. Knight, can we start mining that Cave Storehouse tomorrow?"
Actually, he already knew Sean Knight’s itinerary for the whole day and could naturally guess that the location of the Cave Storehouse was likely under the flat ground south of the base.
"Yes, I’ll take everyone there tomorrow." Sean Knight nodded, "This matter also needs to be handled quickly. We also saw Treasure Hunters at the base. It would be troublesome if they got there first."
"Yes, yes, yes, I will notify the people right now. Tomorrow morning... no, at the crack of dawn, we will set off!"
Elder Hassan couldn’t wait a moment longer. If it weren’t inconvenient because of the nightfall, he would have liked to set off immediately to dig and retrieve the items!
Zena Fitzgerald quietly cleaned up the items on the table as Elder Hassan didn’t want to stop for a minute and quickly left.
Sean Knight said to Zena Fitzgerald:
"You should rest early too."
At that time, two cars drove to the spot where Sean Knight and his group had been mining during the day.
Looking at the two-meter-wide hollow place on the ground that contained nothing, and with nothing around it, someone still jumped down into it.
Someone else went into the hollow place holding a metal detector, but they discovered nothing underground—of course, had he gone a few meters to the side, he might have detected something.
Since the place really didn’t seem like there could be anything there, they quickly climbed out again.
"What do you think, what is this Sean Knight up to? Suddenly digging a big hole in this spot, could there be something here, or could something have been taken away?"
"No. Our drone observed from high altitude, and when they left, there was nothing being transported in their car."
"Then what could it be?" The leader was also perplexed.
"If there’s nothing here, then we needn’t bother. As long as he doesn’t leave, it certainly means he hasn’t found it yet. We just need to follow him," the man who had initially opposed following Sean Knight now seemed to take the situation in stride, "When he tries to leave, or if we observe that he has found the Treasure, then we’ll make our move!"
The others agreed with this opinion, and several of them got back into the car and left the place.
In the base, the Treasure Hunters ultimately found nothing and left in disappointment.
The second day at the crack of dawn, Narona was already up getting Sean Knight’s washing water and breakfast ready.
When Sean Knight got up, the courtyard outside was noisy, clearly indicating that the tribal residents were ready.
Not wanting to delay any further, Sean Knight washed up quickly with the help of Zena Fitzgerald, ate something hurriedly, and then got onto Zack’s pickup truck.
This time Hassan was also on the truck.
What surprised Sean Knight was that there was an additional big truck in the tribe!
The truck was open-backed and looked to be in about seventy or eighty percent new condition – it seemed to have been exchanged in the last two days.
As the vehicle was about to leave, Clarence Hughes squeezed onto the truck, looked at Sean Knight, and asked:
"Mr. Knight, I heard you’ve found something hidden by the Americans again? Amazing, isn’t it?"
"We’ll need to dig it out first to be sure," Sean Knight replied. "We’ll see when we get there."
"Right, I’m sure there will be no issue!"
The convoy left, heading majestically towards the southern side of the base. The tribal residents, armed and carrying tools, were all very excited.
Having tasted the benefits of the supplies from the Cave Storehouse, and hearing that there might be even more this time, how could they not be excited?
The cars arrived at the targeted location, the heap of stones, just as the sun was peeking over the horizon.
"Right below these stones, in this area, start digging!" Sean Knight marked the location.
The tribal residents immediately got to work.
About an hour later, the mouth of the Mine Pit was unearthed.
Just at that moment, someone sent an alert signal from the lookouts Elder Hassan had deployed.
There was trouble!
