Chapter 984: Chapter 540: To Take, First Give_2
After getting out of the car, Zack said:
"Originally, several tribes nearby had planned to cultivate this place into farmland. However, the land is barren and water is scarce, so nothing can be grown. They simply gave up." Sean Knight looked around and noticed that there were quite a few car tracks, then said:
"Let’s walk around down here. It’s not safe, so we won’t split up, just circle around first."
From a distance, this area looks like flat ground, but when you walk into it, you can find that there are actually many stones.
Wandering around, Sean Knight stopped at a spot where there were more stones.
There were many tire tracks nearby, and also quite a few footprints. On the new road compressed by the cars, there was even soft soil.
Sean Knight walked into the middle of the rocks, touching the stones as he activated Sky Eye.
These stones, they were newly placed here!
Now that’s interesting!
Looking further down, Sean Knight indeed saw what he was looking for!
Underneath the stones was the obvious sign of digging followed by refilling!
But it was unclear whether the refilling was due to an unsuccessful search for valuable minerals leading to abandonment, or it was an unexhausted gold mine?
Continuing his vision downward with Sky Eye, Sean Knight finally saw something different about twenty meters underground.
Down there, there indeed were branching Mine Caves!
And the space below was very vast, vast enough for trucks to drive into.
However, because a steel support structure was used at the entrance of the corridor, even if cars drove over it or rocks pressed down, it wouldn’t collapse.
Following the direction of the Underground Corridor for a while, Sean Knight then felt it was too deep and couldn’t see anymore.
He bent down and began to search nearby.
He quickly found several rocks covered in dust.
And to Sean Knight, these unassuming rocks contained very fine golden powder—
This was gold ore!
Sean Knight was now almost certain.
Next, the final step to confirm was to see if there was enough gold ore left Underground for the tribe to mine.
If not, there was no need for Sean Knight to mention this place, but if there was, then his plan could proceed.
Because it was still uncertain how much ore was left inside and whether there were other things.
After walking around nearby, Sean Knight made a decision.
He came to a spot right above where he thought the Mine Cave’s direction went—where he couldn’t see the place below anymore.
However, Sean Knight guessed that the Mine Cave should be quite deep below, so he decided to dig down.
Seeing Sean Knight pull out a short-handle shovel and start digging deeply, the others immediately grabbed tools and began to dig as well.
However, Lincoln Harrington didn’t move; he took a Gun to a higher spot and began to observe the surroundings, taking on the role of a Scout.
The Soil quality was quite hard, but it wasn’t difficult for Sean Knight and his team.
Zack, excited, dug along—dreaming of encountering the same situation as yesterday, hoping to dig out items.
But there were no relics here, so how could anything be hidden?
Of course, Zack was just puzzled, not doubtful.
They quickly dug down more than two meters, and the soil became slightly moist.
However, the number of rocks also increased.
The four of them dug a hollow place almost two meters in diameter and two meters deep, and were heading toward three meters.
"Back in our place, digging this deep would have hit water by now," Douglas Cooper said while digging and chatting.
"Stop for a moment," said Sean Knight, looking down, "You guys go up first, let me have a look."
With an additional three meters, Sean Knight could see the items in the Underground Mine Cave.
Then he saw something unexpected.
Turns out, this place actually had this?
You’d wonder what the Americans did before they left!
This gave Sean Knight an idea, though.
Getting up to the surface with his short-handle shovel, Zack asked out of curiosity:
"Mr. Knight, did you find anything?"
"No," Sean Knight gestured, "Alright, we’re tired enough, let’s find a cool place to rest."
Elijah Hastings and the others thought this was very normal; if Sean Knight had something to tell them, he would, and if there was no need, there was no point in saying it.
They were accustomed to it, but Zack was somewhat not.
However, with his Identity, he felt it was inappropriate to ask directly and found it rather uncomfortable.
The group left the dig site as it was, then got into the Car.
Lincoln Harrington also returned to the Car from the Scout position. Zack drove north, stopped by the side of a Mountain in a shaded place.
"Take a break, have some food," said Sean Knight, "Afterwards, we’ll go look for other places."
Although he said this, those familiar with Sean Knight actually knew that he had formed a definite plan.
In the afternoon, Zack drove them around to other places, mainly on the South Side, and as the sky was getting dark, the group returned to the village.
Elder Hassan wasn’t inside the Courtyard, but when Zena Fitzgerald and the other maid-servants saw Sean Knight and his team return, they immediately began to prepare wash-up and food for them.
Zack drove away in the Car, and Sean Knight and his companions ate and washed up.
After eating, he said to Zena Fitzgerald:
"When Elder Hassan comes back, let me know, I have matters to discuss with him."
When he said this, Zena nodded—Sean Knight had spoken in Chinese, he was just testing, not expecting Zena to understand!
What’s going on? She understands but has been playing dumb every day? Or is she really mute?
