Chapter 955: 530

Two people entered Jason’s office, and Sean Knight looked around at the surroundings and said, laughing,

"What made you think of having such a rudimentary office here? Actually, with the current scale here, you could totally rent an office area in the Port."

Sean’s words meant to tease a bit, but they were also sixty to seventy percent sincere—Jason had purchased seven freight yards with Sean’s backing over the past two years.

Aside from two of them doing fixed-time container auctions, the others were all rented out for container storage.

Every month, just the pure profit that they brought in for Sean was already over a million dollars.

Jason himself was taking home over 100,000 dollars every month.

Even though Jason felt he was taking too much, Sean insisted on giving him that much.

After all, he was now just an absentee owner here, completely relying on Jason’s loyalty and ability—Kathy would come over every month to check the books, and there were almost never any mistakes.

That’s why Kathy also agreed to let Jason take over the freight yard completely.

"I feel secure staying here," Jason said with a chuckle, "Boss, you left me in charge here. If I run over to the office area and rent a place, I won’t be able to keep an eye on things here.

I’m worried that the boys working under me will slack off—they won’t do anything to upset you, boss, but some people are just naturally lazy, and there’s nothing you can do about it."

Sean knew what Jason meant. It’s not that no one dared to cross him; anyone who tried would be eliminated by Jason immediately.

Jason treated the guys he recruited well, setting high standards. If someone couldn’t meet them, he didn’t make things difficult for them and would politely show them the door.

But no one had freight yard benefits like this before—no, there really were none!

So many people still bit the bullet and stayed on.

The freight yard provided accommodations that were basic, but there was a benefit: there weren’t many places nearby to spend money. Plus, Jason always promoted Sean as a paragon among bosses, that Chinese people have the custom of saving, and he encouraged the guys to learn from that. As long as they worked here for a year, they would have enough money to rent a house, get married, and have children.

This incentive was quite appealing to the guys.

That’s why Jason had the confidence to say that no one dared to cross Sean.

Otherwise, without waiting for a word from Sean, Jason would deal with it first.

"Well, let me tell you something," Sean looked into Jason’s eyes and said,

"I’m going to transfer all the business of this freight yard into your hands..."

Jason was stunned for a moment, then said,

"Boss... are you..."

"I’m a bit worried," Sean said, looking at Jason,

"You should be able to feel it, too. People of Chinese heritage here... especially someone like me with such wealth but without local citizenship, are inevitably going to be targeted..."

He pointed at Jason, smiling,

"On the other hand, it’s you guys who are rising with the tide."

Jason smiled awkwardly.

Indeed, with political correctness today, even mermaids are black.

Jason and his folks had gained a bit of convenience because of this.

"Then, I understand," Jason, having worked for so long, was no longer the naive kid of the past, "I can take over here. Anyway, every month, I will still hand over the money we make to Ms. Kathy—it’s thanks for the trust you have in me, boss!"

Jason naturally knew the risks Sean was taking with this move.

If Jason had other intentions, he could completely swallow up those assets after Sean transferred them over.

Of course, Jason wouldn’t do that. And Sean’s decision was a tremendous trust in Jason himself!

At noon, Sean picked up Joanna and went to Jason’s house for lunch together.

When Freya saw Sean, her face showed a rare smile. Seeing Joanna, her smile slightly diminished.

The meal was still the Big Plate Chicken that Sean was accustomed to, and there was even spicy sheep’s foot—a dish Joanna looked at with some surprise, not daring to touch.

But Sean ate very happily.

"Freya ordered the seasoning specially from China," Jason said. "It’s not something we get to taste normally."

Sean thought to himself that this was a luxury he really couldn’t enjoy.

At night, after exercising with Joanna, while drawing circles on Sean’s chest, she said,

"I think that Freya likes you..."

"As a handsome and charming man like me, of course, many people like me!" Sean replied with a laugh to this jealous remark, "It’s not my fault."

As he spoke, he kissed Joanna, and she responded passionately.

The second day, Sean went to the freight yard with the paperwork, along with Kathy and the lawyer, to complete the asset transfer procedures.

On the same day, Sean also transferred some of his assets into Kathy’s name.

From then on, the total value of his assets in New York rapidly shrank to below one hundred million.

Even though that was still a considerable fortune, it wasn’t as conspicuous as before.

The main assets were a few villas and farmhouses; such immovable properties weren’t so eye-catching anymore.

Sean was feeling light-hearted, so he planned to stay here a bit longer.

Unfortunately, after less than a week, he was summoned away by a phone call from Elijah.

"Boss, we’ve found quite a bit of information here, and I’m afraid the stuff that Principal Miller asked us to deal with might be a bit out of scale..."

Elijah’s words piqued Sean’s interest.

Should I go over there and take a look myself?

"Is it safe over there?" Sean asked.

Although he had abilities beyond ordinary people, it didn’t mean he wasn’t afraid of dying.

If the situation was still as stubborn and sensitive there as it had been, then Sean thought it might be better to stay in China or even New York.

"It’s safe," Elijah’s voice was confident, "Mr. Hassan, Principal Miller’s friend, has a high status here; he’s in charge of external affairs in this tribe. With him accompanying us, wherever we go, the road is smooth.

The only downside is that transportation is inconvenient, and the supply situation is pitiful. But I don’t think the old lighthouse set up a base in this remote region for nothing. It’s just that we haven’t found more useful information yet."

Sean understood, it was time for him to take action!
