Chapter 935: Chapter 523 This is actually a small base!_3

As he spoke, he pulled a small bag from his pocket and swayed it in front of Elijah Hastings, saying,

"Although I didn’t master it very well, I should at least be able to knock these two out, right?"

Sean Knight looked up to find an upwind position, then untied the mouth of the bag and tossed a handful of that flower powder into the air.

Elijah Hastings immediately held his breath, then listened as Sean Knight began to talk in a somewhat confusing tone.

The two monks first smelled the scent, looked puzzled, searched for the source of the fragrance, and then they heard a faint voice. Before they could react, they grew drowsy and collapsed.

Sean Knight chanted a few more phrases, saw that the two really had no reaction, then stopped talking and gave Elijah Hastings an "OK" gesture.

Elijah Hastings returned a thumbs up, and then the two of them sneaked into the pagoda forest.

The pagoda forest wasn’t very large and had street lamps. Sean Knight turned on his Sky Eye, looking at each one in turn.

He actually saw Buddha’s relics!

The older the stone pagodas, the higher the chance they would contain relics.

Farther back, the pagodas became more luxuriously built, but the chances of finding relics diminished, and in the end, there were almost none.

Like the first stone pagoda with seven colored relics, that was even less likely.

What surprised Sean Knight was that after inspecting all the stone pagodas, he didn’t find anything unusual!

He refused to give up, filled his Sky Eye with energy, and took another careful look, but still didn’t notice anything unusual.

Elijah Hastings also observed carefully, even stamping his feet from time to time to listen for any hollow spaces beneath the soil.

Obviously, he was also disappointed.

"Boss, is there really nothing wrong with this place?" Back at the starting point, where the two monks had been, Elijah Hastings asked Sean Knight with disappointment.

"Yes. There’s nothing unusual about this pagoda forest. We need to look elsewhere. Let’s go."

"What about those two?" Elijah Hastings asked.

"Don’t worry about them, they’ll wake up in an hour."

The two quietly left the area and snuck towards the Scripture Repository.

The Scripture Repository was a three-story wooden building that seemed quite old.

The doors were locked, and it was a modern fingerprint lock. To enter through there was obviously a bit difficult.

Sean Knight looked up and said,

"I’ll go up first to take a look, you watch the surroundings."

Elijah Hastings knew that when it came to agility, Sean Knight had now surpassed them. He nodded and hid in the bushes, keeping an eye on the surroundings.

Sean Knight climbed up to the second floor and found that all the windows were tightly shut. Though they appeared to be wooden windows, they were actually reinforced.

He climbed up to the third floor, took a turn, and found that one window wasn’t closed very tightly.

He took a small knife from the pocket dimension and gently inserted it into the crevice, slowly lifting the bolt inside.

After opening the window, Sean Knight squeezed in—having already used his Sky Eye to see that there was a secret underground chamber in the Scripture Repository.

However, upon entering the third floor of the Scripture Repository, Sean Knight did not go straight down. He discovered that there were many rare and fine copies of books.

These rare editions and fine copies were not just Buddhist Scriptures but also others like medical books and astrology books.

Many of these books were from China and dated to periods such as the Song, Yuan, Ming dynasties, and so on.

Sean Knight could even guess that these books definitely weren’t obtained by those monks who visited China at that time but were likely plundered by the Japanese soldiers during the invasions of the Eight-Nation Alliance and subsequently the War of Resistance Against Japan.

At least a hundred or so books!

Sean Knight did not hold back and directly collected all these items from China.

He then went down to the second floor, where there were many Buddhist Scriptures. Sean Knight glanced through them and, finding the items here relatively less precious, casually picked a few and then went down to the first floor.

On the first floor, many Buddhist Scriptures were printed in modern times and were not of high value. Sean Knight ignored them and came to a bookshelf in front of him.

This bookshelf was a disguised secret door. Sean Knight scanned it with his Sky Eye, found the mechanism, and pushed the bookshelf aside to reveal a human-height secret door.

Scanning with his Sky Eye and finding no traps, he walked down.

The space below wasn’t very large, with two back rooms. One room was filled with various books. Sean Knight looked around and found that these books were also the plundered type, all very precious, and some considered lost to China already.

There wasn’t a single Buddhist scripture in this room; all were medical, divination, astrology, and annotations, along with commentaries on Confucian classics by famous scholars from different dynasties.

Sean Knight unceremoniously collected all these items.

In the other back room, there were various Buddhist implements. Any one of these items, if placed in a Chinese Auction House, would be worth several hundred thousand, but here they piled up a whole room.

Clearly, these items need not be mentioned, as they were also plundered from previous times.

Sean Knight didn’t leave a single one behind, collecting them all.

However, he was clearly not satisfied—he had not found anything related to Xingya Guanyin Temple.

Where the Bloody Earth Guanyin was, remained unknown.

Sean Knight took another look around and, finding truly no evidence, reluctantly left the secret chamber and exited the Scripture Repository.

Elijah Hastings saw Sean Knight coming out, revealed his position, and asked,

"Boss, how did it go? Did you find anything?"

"I didn’t find anything related to Xingya Guanyin Temple," Sean Knight shook his head and said, "Let’s go look elsewhere."

Elijah Hastings also felt disappointed, and the two continued to search the backyard.

However, they had almost searched everywhere here. Although they found two secret chambers, the contents were unrelated to Xingya Guanyin Temple or Bloody Earth Guanyin.

Could it be a mistake?

Sean Knight began to doubt his earlier thoughts again.

"Let’s go, let’s go back to the front yard!" Thinking of the eight ashes pots that had been subject to the salvation ceremony, Sean Knight immediately told Elijah Hastings.

Elijah Hastings did not know what Sean Knight had come up with this time but didn’t ask any further questions, and together they hurried towards the front yard.

When the two arrived, the salvation ceremony in the front yard had already ended; the monks were leaving the main hall in groups of three or two, heading for the rest area in the backyard.

Then, Sean Knight saw a monk holding a box wrapped in yellow cloth, watching these monks leave.

This monk was suspicious!
