Chapter 908: Chapter 514: Sneaking in Adventure_3

"Alright, let’s look around as we walk." The two men started to slowly make their rounds at some distance from the museum.

"This should do, it looks like no one has lived here for quite some time." This time, after nearly circling the entire manor, they found an empty room in an apartment building.

"Boss, wait, I’ll unlock the door." Dealing with such an old-fashioned lock was easy for Lincoln Harrington, who, along with Sean Knight, silently entered the place.

The rooms were quite messy. Sean Knight guessed that the owner must have hurriedly moved out half a year or a year ago.

Whether thinking that they wouldn’t be back for a short time or due to lack of time, the rooms were not tidied up, with items and garbage that hadn’t been taken away everywhere.

The two men quickly cleared out a room, set down their backpacks, and stretched a bit. Lincoln spoke up:

"Boss, it seems like there are people staked out near the museum."

"Yes," Sean Knight nodded; he had noticed as well, and not just one group of people.

It was unclear whether these individuals were just watching to see who would touch the items inside, or if they didn’t enter the manor due to mutual deterrence.

So from this vantage point, the manor seemed quiet, unlike the periphery where undercurrents were flowing.

This made things difficult.

It was like going to the African Savanna with the goal being to take away a wildebeest close to death.

But at that moment, there were lions, hyenas, African leopards, and vultures lurking around the wildebeest.

If you had to take away the wildebeest without them noticing, that’s when it becomes troublesome.

Having realized this, Sean Knight said to Lincoln:

"Let’s not do anything rash, let’s observe first. After daybreak, I’ll go out in disguise to scout and see what’s happening."

Lincoln knew the miraculous nature of Sean’s "disguise" and agreed to the plan.

Both were tired, but this was a critical period for completing their mission, so they took turns resting, with one on watch for the first half of the night and the other for the latter half.

After daybreak, with more cars and people on the streets, Sean Knight changed clothes and went out.

Outside, people hurried along with expressions of numbness or tension, some focused solely on moving forward, while others looked around fearfully as if something might leap out and threaten them.

Although Sean Knight had the face of a local, he couldn’t speak the language. He simply made a big round, bought some bread from a dining hall that was open, and then hurried away.

The dining hall owner found it odd that Sean Knight only spoke English, but the US dollars left behind made him decide it was better not to ask questions.

Sean Knight took a big loop and checked out the suspect surveillance spots with Sky Eye, getting a good understanding of the situation, then returned to the apartment.

"There are four groups watching. One group is locals; there’s a group that seems to be Japanese soldiers, another that looks local but maybe from up north, judging by the wine bottles. And there’s another group resembling Europeans or Americans."

As Sean Knight and Lincoln ate, Sean continued:

"These groups don’t have any replacements, so they must be on long-term stakeout. The places where they’re stationed have a good amount of supplies, varying quality of equipment, and the number of people ranges from one to four."

Lincoln thought for a moment before speaking:

"By the sound of it, it seems that their main task is surveillance or sabotage, not primarily removing items.

If that’s the case, it will be difficult for us to complete our mission..."

After all, surveillance was definitely more convenient than transportation. And compared to sabotage, protection was naturally harder.

Sean Knight waved his hand and said:

"Don’t worry, let’s first find a way in— I wonder what the sewer system is like inside, whether we can get through it."

We’ll look in the daytime, and at night we’ll find a suitable spot to check it out.

If there’s a way to sneak in without alerting those groups, it’s through the sewer system.

However, Sean Knight wasn’t sure if a person could fit through the city’s sewerage.

After breakfast, he hit the street again, wandering around.

When he returned at noon, Sean Knight brought back some bad news for Lincoln:

"The sewer system is a no-go. The city’s buildings are all patchwork. The sewers are wide in some spots and narrow in others; some parts are even buried underground."

If this path was not feasible, then they would have to make their entry under the cover of darkness.

"Tonight, I’ll find a blind spot with a view from four sides to enter, to first assess the situation," Sean Knight resolved, "As long as we can get a good look inside, next, we’ll discuss how to move those people away.

Whether it’s a decoy operation, a divide and encircle strategy, or some other method, that’s another matter."

Sean Knight’s intention was clear. They would only consider further action if they were certain that the museum’s items were present and worth the risk.

Otherwise, the best move would be to withdraw early.

Since Sean Knight had put it that way, Lincoln didn’t object.

He took out a rifle from his backpack and assembled it.

Since Sean Knight would be venturing in alone, Lincoln got ready to provide cover—if any of those groups made a move, he would take out whoever acted!

A scope with a night vision device was not for decoration!

As night fell, Sean Knight and Lincoln Harrington finished their meal and silently waited for the moment to act.

Minutes ticked by; in the latter half of the night, aside from the occasional car noise, it was almost completely silent.

Sean Knight opened his eyes and said,

"I’m heading over now, wait for my signal."

With that, he stealthily left.

Lincoln followed, carrying his rifle up to the top of the apartment building.

He set up the rifle and watched as Sean Knight crept low to a tree outside the manor.

Although not exactly dead in the blind spot of those four groups, it was at the junction of two groups’ watches, making it somewhat of a gray area.

Sean Knight silently climbed over the surrounding wall and jumped in, then made his way towards the direction of the museum.

There weren’t many plants or buildings inside the manor, making it a time when one is most likely to be detected.

Through the scope, Lincoln saw Sean Knight’s form and his heart raced.

If Sean Knight were to be discovered now, he would be in real trouble!
