Chapter 883: 506
Once everyone was seated, he put down the folder in his hand and clapped to get attention:
"Hello everyone, I am Andrew Thompson, the director of this project.
This time, it’s our first time involving Chinese volunteers in our research project, and your participation is an honor for us.
I believe that once the medicine enters the Market, you all will be remembered by everyone!
We are deeply grateful for your participation, as it will help us complete the Phase I Clinical Pharmacology Research of the drug as quickly as possible, which is vital for bringing new drugs to Market.
Please rest assured that we will compensate you for your participation; for each administration of the drug, you will receive compensation of 300 Euros— the total compensation will continue throughout the experiment."
After finishing, this Andrew Thompson bowed to everyone with a sincere expression.
Many people, like Milan Collins, were somewhat moved, and he immediately began applauding enthusiastically.
After all, the original offer was 200 Euros, and now it had increased to 300 Euros. One hundred more Euros per session, that’s over a 1000 Euros in half a month— isn’t that enticing?
The others gradually followed suit in applauding. But Sean Knight and the eighteen-year-old boy, along with the woman sitting alone in the corner, did not clap.
"This is Professor Molly Wilson, the Technical Supervisor of this drug trial," Andrew Thompson continued as he stood up straight to introduce her, "She will lead the entire drug trial, and if you have any discomfort at all, you must inform her immediately.
"Alright, if you have any questions, you can ask them now," Andrew Thompson concluded.
"Are we free? Can we go back after taking the medicine each day?" the sweet-looking girl among the three female students asked.
"No," Andrew Thompson shook his head, "For this experiment, you must stay in the Laboratory, we have specially prepared rooms for you.
This experiment is very important, just the initial costs are calculated in billions, so please understand. We will handle communication with your families, workplaces, and schools.
Originally, each person was to be compensated 200 Euros per session, but we raised it to 300 Euros in hopes that everyone would stay, which is one of the conditions."
Sean Knight was somewhat puzzled. Didn’t that woman mention two options to Molly before? How could it now suddenly become just one?
Sean Knight looked at Molly Wilson, and she glanced back at him and nodded slightly, signaling him to remain calm.
However, for Sean Knight, he had already chosen to stay, so this was perfect.
Some were hesitant, but many more were indifferent.
In the end, one of the three girls dropped out, leaving nineteen out of the original twenty people.
The girl who withdrew left the premises, and the rest were led by Andrew Thompson to their rooms on the Third Floor.
Two people per Room, and whether by coincidence or design, Sean Knight ended up being assigned to a Room by himself.
As everyone was taken to their Rooms, Milan Collins ran over to Sean Knight, laughing, and said:
"Luke Anderson, Brother, look, I like living by myself, could you possibly..."
"The living arrangements are already set." Sean Knight looked at him expressionlessly, "And coincidentally, I also prefer living alone."
Without paying him any more attention, he walked straight into his Room.
Milan Collins didn’t give up, he stood at the Entrance and said in a low voice with a threatening tone:
"Luke Anderson, you should be aware that I’m not alone. When you’re out in the world, you should consider your own strength and who you know. It wouldn’t be good if you accidentally tripped up..."
"Are you threatening me?" Sean Knight said coldly, glancing at him, "Want to give it a try?"
"You’re really tough!" Milan Collins hadn’t expected Sean Knight to be so unyielding. He wanted to say more, but then he heard someone calling:
"Milan Collins, come here and turn in your personal belongings!"
Turn in personal belongings?
As soon as these words were spoken, they immediately captured the attention of many, and Sean Knight also walked to the door of his Room to look out.
Then he saw two security guards with guns pushing a trolley to the Entrance of Room One—Milan Collins was the first to arrive, so he was assigned to Room One.
"Everyone must hand over all personal items other than their mobile phones. You will not be able to leave for half a month. You can now send messages or make phone calls to your loved ones to explain the situation. After the experiment is over, your personal items will be returned to you."
Andrew Thompson stood behind the security guards, providing explanations.
Some began to argue but ultimately surrendered their personal belongings and donned the Clothes distributed on site, all under the power of Money.
When it was Sean Knight’s turn, Andrew Thompson stood outside the door. Sean Knight, not avoiding suspicion, placed his items into a package, swiftly changed his Clothes.
"Professor Wilson was right; your body is indeed very robust!"
Sean Knight ignored him, and after changing, he neatly packed his clothes into the pre-prepared package. In front of Sean Knight, the security guard locked it up and handed him the Key.
After the guard left, Sean Knight surveyed the Room.
The four walls were white and bare, the material of the wall did not feel as hard as cement to the touch. The furniture including the table and chairs were extremely simple, and so was the bed, which gave off a vibe reminiscent of the dormitories for astronauts as seen in space movies.
Nothing superfluous.
Lying on the bed, Sean Knight activated Sky Eye and scanned around, only to be surprised that there were no Cameras inside!
Was it that none were installed, or had he just not found them?
