Chapter 850: Chapter 495: There’s a Monk Who’s No Ordinary!
The people above were all waiting for Sean Knight to come up. And Gru Devon occasionally looked at the snake, his eyes filled with reverence.
Cheryl Suweton couldn’t help but lean over the cave entrance and shout down:
"Sean, are you okay?"
"I’m fine!" came Sean’s response, "Just wait a bit and I’ll come up."
"Then be careful," Cheryl, reassured by Sean’s response, was no longer so worried and dragged her backpack over to organize it at the cave entrance.
Douglas Cooper and Lincoln Harrington had already packed up their bags. One climbed onto the rooftop of the neighboring building to watch for any unexpected incidents while the other began preparing food.
Now that the daylight had fully arrived and the sunshine was shining down, the moisture in the air was slowly drying up. Haruda Tomoko moved to a shady spot in the wall corner; she didn’t want to get a tan.
Elijah Hastings, holding the snake in one hand, quickly set up half a tent at the cave entrance to block the sunlight for Cheryl.
Sean’s love life wasn’t something he would ponder about, but Cheryl’s current identity was almost that of an impending lady boss, so he still cared as he should.
Haruda Tomoko was a bit envious and wanted to join them, but in the end, she didn’t go over.
She didn’t want to embarrass herself.
By now, Haruda Tomoko had understood that these people were all centered around Sean Knight. If she wanted to be valued, she really could only start with Sean.
"Come on, it’s time to eat," called out Lincoln from the other side. "Have some porridge first. Everyone must be hungry, right? A full stomach will help us continue working."
The fragrance of the porridge spread, and everyone’s stomachs really began to growl—they had been in a flurry all night, and the food last night had long been digested.
Everyone had some, including Gru Devon and Haruda Tomoko. At this moment, Lincoln made no distinction among them.
After experiencing the snake disaster, they had already become a small group; there was no need for separation now.
Underground, Sean was unaware of the hustle and bustle above ground. After about fifteen minutes of digging, he unearthed the two snake heads.
They seemed to be made of jade, were very hard, and emitted a faint microlight in the darkness.
There was something a bit eerie about them, but Sean wasn’t scared.
After all, they were not alive.
The four snake eyes were red, like rubies had been embedded.
However, looking at them, they seemed to be one with the snake heads, without any visible signs of embedding.
After admiring them for a while, Sean continued to dig.
This double-headed snake statue was very similar to the snake he had caught earlier, just one size larger.
Sean even wondered if there was a connection between the two.
The hole got deeper, and the main body of the double-headed snake statue gradually became fully exposed.
Looking at the two-meter-tall statue, Sean exclaimed:
So beautiful!
But he didn’t continue to admire it. Instead, he put the items into the spatial realm and then continued digging—the Sky Eye showed that there were other items still in the hole.
With the Sky Eye, Sean quickly unearthed a jade piece the size of a fingernail, resembling a Go piece but a bit thinner and green.
In a short while, Sean had dug out more than 100 pieces.
After cleaning up, Sean came out of the hole, stretched his back, looked around, and seeing no more suspicious items, he scraped a piece of wood from the cave wall and began walking upwards.
Halfway, he smelled the aroma of the porridge and felt hungry too.
Thinking it must be the work of Lincoln and the others, and looking forward to sipping the fragrant porridge, Sean quickened his steps.
When the light inside the cave got brighter, Sean looked up to see two heads at the cave entrance—
Elijah and Cheryl’s.
"Sean, you’re up—thank goodness!"
"Boss, if you didn’t come up, Cheryl was about to go down..." Elijah joked.
Although Sean had said it was safe below, Elijah was still a bit worried.
But looking at Sean’s expression now, there was indeed no need to worry.
Elijah gave a hand and Sean came up to the surface, handing a bag of green jade pieces to Cheryl:
"Look at this, this stuff was down there, along with this..." he handed over the wood fragment, "and nothing else."
The green jade piece was as if it had been polished, very smooth and beautiful, catching Cheryl’s attention immediately.
China’s jade did not hold a place, or say not recognized, in the world Jewelry Market.
To Europeans and Americans, jade is not considered to be gemstones.
Of course, to someone like Sean, or to those who truly understood jade, the approval of Europeans and Americans was unnecessary.
After all, when Chinese people were developing their jade culture, there were no white people in the Americas... oh no, America didn’t have white people at that time.
Back then, the white people in Europe were still monkeys in trees.
But later, once they gained a voice and feared that Chinese culture would take over the market, they stopped including jade.
Of course, this also had to do with some of the chaos in the current domestic Jade Stone Market in China. With many fakes and many categories that outsiders don’t understand, it is easy for people to be fooled and taken advantage of.
This piece of green jade was not perfectly round but had a slight oval shape, looking very beautiful nonetheless.
"Keep it for fun," Sean said as he went to take the bowl of porridge handed over by Lincoln and drank deeply.
Although he had energy inside him, after working hard all night and then spending so much time in the damp environment of the cave, having a bowl of hot porridge was truly comforting.
If only he could take a hot shower right now, that would be even better.
