Chapter 848: Chapter 494 There are still good items underground!_2
"Boss, could there be danger down there?" Elijah Hastings asked, somewhat worried.
"Don’t worry, I’m a lucky guy," Sean Knight’s Sky Eye had already seen that there was nothing below. He would actually be better off going down by himself, since he could use the items in the spatial realm without any reservations.
Intuition told Sean Knight that there must be something beneath.
Sean Knight crawled into the cave interior, which was less than a meter in diameter. Fortunately, it wasn’t vertical but sloped, allowing him to bend over and make his way down.
Sean Knight, with his night vision, could see the sticky substance on the cave wall, and he was pretty sure this was what the creature had pushed out. However, this business was quite mysterious!
"Boss, are you all right?" Elijah called out from the cave entrance when Sean was about seven or eight meters down.
"I’m fine, don’t worry." Sean was actually very careful, moving slowly with his Sky Eye continuously scanning downwards and all around.
Finally, he saw the bottom of the cave, which was about thirty meters from the ground.
The cave wall was very moist, and Sean felt that he could squeeze water out of a handful of soil.
The air was slightly hot and humid, with some parts of the wall having tree roots that were covered with tiny water droplets.
The cave was much larger below, which made walking more comfortable for Sean as he could almost stand up straight.
Following the slope, Sean estimated he was now beneath the exact location of the Inside Courtyard house.
The Courtyard was quite large.
Below was a massive cave of about ten square meters.
In the center of the cave was a shallow pit, and Sean guessed that the creature must have been originally located there.
Unlike the damp soil of the previous cave walls, the surroundings of this cave were made of wood-like material.
It was like entering the hollow of a big tree.
Outside, Douglas Cooper had already called Lincoln Harrington and the others over.
The tents in the Courtyard were in disarray due to the snake’s disruption. Fortunately, their packages were still intact.
Although there was a fishy smell, most of their items were still there.
"Ah—!"
HarudaTomoko, carrying a package, suddenly threw it far away, screaming and hiding behind Douglas.
"What’s wrong? What happened?" Douglas asked as he looked at the package but saw no apparent problem.
"Inside that package..." Chika clutched at Douglas’s sleeve, her face pale as she stuttered:
"There... there’s a snake! It was just moving!"
Douglas sighed with relief; it was just a snake.
"Let go, I’ll take a look," Douglas said as he walked over, "it’s just a snake after all..."
At that moment, a snake slithered out of the package, glanced at the people around, and then quickly disappeared into the bushes.
"This snake is not venomous," the only Guide Gru said. "It likes to be around our Courtyard and usually gets along well with people."
So that was the case.
Cheryl Suweton was a bit curious; she wanted to see what a snake that got along with people looked like.
But the snake seemed to have been scared off and was already far away.
"Are you saying that Sean has already entered the cave?" Cheryl’s attention shifted to Sean’s situation, "He said there’s no danger inside?"
"Yes. The boss said there should be no danger," Elijah spoke while holding the snake, "The boss’s luck is usually quite good..."
"Then let’s go down too!" Upon hearing Elijah’s words, Chika’s eyes lit up, and she immediately said, "Maybe there’s something good down there..."
"Forget it, everyone else should just stay here," Cheryl shook her head, easily guessing Chika’s intentions, "This cave doesn’t look very big. If we all go down and Sean happens to be coming up, wouldn’t we be trapped?"
Elijah glanced at Chika but ignored her.
He also wouldn’t let Chika go down. The woman was too scheming and not trustworthy.
Chika knew her intentions had been seen through, but she wasn’t embarrassed. After all, she was the employer for this treasure hunt, and it wasn’t unreasonable for her to search for treasure.
But Cheryl’s reasoning was sound; Chika didn’t dare to go down herself. If anything else happened, she feared there would be no one to save her—
She was well aware of Sean’s influence and status among these people.
If Sean had said not to let others in, then they definitely wouldn’t go in. If she went alone and encountered danger, she would be easy prey.
Discarding that thought, her attention turned to the snake in Elijah’s hand.
"Wow! What a beautiful snake! It must be jade carving, right?" Chika exclaimed with some exaggeration and then reached out to touch it.
"That’s a real snake. One bite and you’re dead," Elijah didn’t move but simply uttered a warning.
Chika’s hand instantly retracted as if shocked, and she chuckled awkwardly:
"I really didn’t notice it was real... It looks just like jade carving!"
Her gaze fell on the snake’s head, and then she saw the snake look back at her.
It was indeed alive—but so beautiful!
Although they were afraid of snakes, such a beautiful creature didn’t evoke disgust in either woman.
If they weren’t scared of being bitten, they would definitely have gone to touch it.
Chika’s words hinted not so subtly that she hoped to keep the snake when Sean returned.
Elijah didn’t follow up on her hint. Considering how Sean had valued the snake earlier, Chika was probably daydreaming.
