Chapter 842: Chapter 492: Disaster of the Maddened Python_2

The distant cries of beasts, one after the other, ensured no one took the situation lightly.

Late at night, one guide was responsible for keeping watch, while everyone else had entered dreamland.

The fire atop the bonfire was gradually dying, and the dim light of dawn made visibility even fuzzier, though not yet to the point of being unable to see one’s own hands.

This guide leaned against the surrounding wall, observing his surroundings with caution.

In such an environment, even though he was very sleepy, he dared not let his guard down.

A subtle, strange noise from beyond the college wall caught his attention.

Gun in hand, the guide carefully peeked outside.

Across his field of vision, there were no large animals.

The slight, strange noise, close to the ground, made the guide slowly walk forward, carefully examining the ground from where the sound emanated.

Snakes!

The sound turned out to be from many snakes slithering over the ground.

There was also the hissing of snakes, with mouths agape and tongues flicking!

Watching the twisting and turning snakes of varying sizes encircle the courtyard, the guide’s scalp tingled, and it took him several seconds before he violently remembered to sound the alarm.

"Bang Bang Bang!"

After firing three shots at the snakes, the guide shouted:

"Get up quickly! We’re in danger, we’re surrounded by snakes!"

As he yelled, he turned and ran into the courtyard, the lingering shadow of the previous python attack hadn’t entirely faded, and now countless snakes arrived, shattering the guide’s courage!

The gunshots and the guide’s shouting instantly woke everyone up.

People crawled out of their tents and, when they reached the entrance, discovered the snakes had already slithered to a spot not far from it.

The big pythons were as thick as bowls, and the small ones as narrow as chopsticks. Some were tangled together, some occupied their own area, but all the snakes had only one target – this courtyard, or rather, something inside Courtyard!

"Quick, light a fire at the entrance, hurry!" Sean Knight was the first to react, shouting as he ran towards the fire to grab some lit branches and place them at the entrance to block the snakes.

The others followed suit, and indeed, the snakes stopped when they were met with the fire at the entrance.

However, it wasn’t long before they heard hissing sounds from atop the college wall.

Clearly, these snakes weren’t fools; if they couldn’t enter through the entrance, there were other ways around!

Sean Knight activated Sky Eye to look outside and discovered the snake swarm seemed to have no end in sight! There were too many to count!

Some of the snakes were clustered together, appearing in groups.

Had anyone with a fear of clusters seen these creatures, they would likely have fainted on the spot!

The fire wasn’t strong, as branches from the bonfire had been hastily arranged into a firewall, which did not burn brightly. A snake, no thicker than a chopstick and about a foot long, suddenly shot over from there and leaped into the courtyard!

One guide with a gun got a fright and started crazily shooting at the snake!

The continuous bullets missed the snake but scattered the newly made bonfire at the entrance into disarray!

The already weak flames became dangerously close to going out!

"Slap!" Sean Knight slapped the guide’s face, while Lincoln Harrington grabbed the gun from his hand and knocked him to the ground.

The guide, with his hand on his face, looked incredulously at the two who had attacked him, then his gaze turned to their leader.

He hoped his boss would take charge of the situation.

At this moment, the leader of the guides was also cursing his subordinate’s stupidity in his heart.

Ignoring his staff, he hurriedly gathered burning branches and piled them up near the entrance.

The bonfire, scattered by the bullets just now, had given some pythons a chance, and they were gathering in this direction.

If they didn’t restack the fire quickly, they would likely soon face an attack from these pythons!

Two ladies had already turned pale with terror, trembling and hiding behind the others.

They were naturally terrified of creatures like snakes, and the sudden appearance of so many was enough to make them faint.

"Quick, throw the antiscolic over there!" Sean Knight suddenly remembered the medicine they had purchased before arriving and shouted out an idea.

In reality, there were many items in the spatial realm that could counter these snakes, but they couldn’t be openly taken out.

For now, they had to rely on what they openly had with them.

Elijah Hastings and several people immediately began to sprinkle the antiscolic around the circle and onto the surrounding wall.

Although it was with a try-and-see approach, when they saw the snakes quickly retreating after coming into contact with the antiscolic, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

At that moment, Sean Knight really wondered, why were these snakes gathering and heading here? Could there be something inside Courtyard?

Now he suddenly understood why the Bengal Tiger had come, circled once, and then fled. There was a great possibility it was attracted by these snakes or whatever was attracting the snakes, and then it got scared away.

Sean Knight again activated Sky Eye to look beneath the courtyard, and this time he observed more carefully. Beneath the middle of the courtyard, there were holes of various sizes leading deeper underground.

When he first noticed these holes, he thought they might have been rat holes or something similar, and as there weren’t many, he didn’t give them much thought.

But now, looking closer at the animals, he noticed the walls of the holes were smooth and varied in thickness; could they be the passageways of these snakes?

As such thoughts raced through his mind, he rapidly considered his options.

If this was indeed the case, then leaving the courtyard might allow them to avoid this disaster, right?

The antiscolic could only work for so long; it wouldn’t last indefinitely.
