Chapter 769: Chapter 466: Turns Out the Old Monk Isn’t a Good Person Either!_2
He slowly walked over to Sean Knight and his companion, and the two stepped back to make room for him.
However, Master Floyd stopped in front of them, turned his head to look at Sean Knight, and then Elijah Hastings, sniffed once, and returned to his calm demeanor, smiling as he continued to water the plants.
Sean Knight thought to himself, this is bad!
This old monk might have discovered something!
They had forgotten to clean the scent off their bodies!
Although the smell of Aquilaria Crassna was not strong, if someone had a keen sense of smell, they would still be able to detect it on Sean Knight’s body!
Although Sean Knight had already put the eaglewood into the spatial realm, the scent lingering on him was not so easily removed!
Sean Knight exchanged glances with Elijah Hastings, and the two sneaked away to another location.
"Boss, I think there’s a side room at that corner..."
"Is it a tool room?"
"It doesn’t look like it. People go in and out frequently; you can see the footprints at the entrance." Elijah Hastings whispered, "And the door is locked. Do you want to go take a look?"
"Let’s go." At first, Sean Knight wasn’t suspicious of this place, but the old monk was almost supernatural, making him feel a little strange.
It’s time to find out the truth!
As the two were walking towards the room, Master Floyd suddenly called out:
"Breakfast is here, Mr. Knight, Mr. Hastings, stop wandering around and come eat!"
Sean Knight paused.
From this angle, he could see that the old monk had put away the water bucket and was about to walk toward him.
When the old monk noticed Sean Knight and his companion looking at him, he pointed to the main hall.
Two middle-aged women were carrying food containers, walking towards them.
These two women were not the ones they met yesterday.
Sean Knight furrowed his brows again.
He glanced at the old monk and then walked towards the single-story house.
From a distance, it seemed as though the old monk let out a sigh of relief. His body and nerves were no longer tense.
By the time the two of them arrived at the single-story house, the old monk had arrived as well.
A table with food was set up outside.
The food containers were already open, and the old monk and Vicky Wilson added dishes to the table.
Vicky Wilson looked up at Sean Knight and his companion with an embarrassed expression and said:
"I was a bit tired yesterday, and I got up late."
"Not late, not late. Actually, we got up early. The main reason is that the air here is so fresh, and we went to bed early last night."
Elijah Hastings’ words gave Vicky Wilson a way out, and she nodded with a smile, starting to set the chopsticks.
The old monk then brought bowls from the inner room and served porridge for everyone.
Sean Knight glanced at the porridge bowls and narrowed his eyes.
When he looked back, the two middle-aged women had already walked over to the main hall.
After the meal was prepared, the old monk clapped his hands and said:
"Come, let’s eat. There aren’t many rules here, and the food is not very rich, but it’s all fresh and clean."
With that, he sat down first.
Sean Knight picked up his chopsticks, examined them carefully, and began eating slowly.
The old monk ate quickly and also ate very little. After finishing a bowl of cabbage and a few bites of vegetables, he put down his bowl and said:
"You guys continue eating. I’m going to offer some incense."
Then he walked towards the main hall.
When the old monk wasn’t speaking, the other three didn’t feel it was appropriate to talk. After he left, Vicky Wilson finally opened her mouth:
"How did you guys sleep last night? It felt like I slept so deeply. When I woke up, the sun was already high!"
"We were more or less the same." Elijah Hastings glanced at Sean Knight and said, "I think it might be because we were disturbed by those people at midnight, so that’s why we slept longer."
"That must be it." Vicky Wilson accepted this explanation, picked up a green vegetable with her chopsticks, slowly chewed it, and as she ate, suddenly looked up and asked:
"By the way, how did your exploration go? When do we leave?"
"After we finish eating, let’s tell the old monk, and then we’ll go."
Sean Knight had already accomplished his mission, and he could also see that the old monk was actually hiding his real abilities. There were more mysteries inside the temple, so it was better to leave early!
"Alright, let’s leave later. I want to go back soon."
The three of them hastened their eating.
At Sean Knight’s signal, Elijah Hastings did not touch the porridge, and Sean Knight also left it untouched.
When Vicky Wilson drank the porridge and left with the bowl to wash it, Sean Knight immediately poured the contents of the other two bowls into the porridge basin.
Elijah Hastings looked at Sean Knight inquiringly.
"It’s better to be cautious."
The three of them washed their bowls, tidied up a bit, put everything back in their places, put on their backpacks, and prepared to leave.
When they reached the main hall, Master Floyd was worshiping the gods and cleaning the hall—actually, there wasn’t much to clean up, just some incense ashes and the like.
When the old monk saw them approaching, he asked:
"Have you finished eating?"
"Yes, we have." Vicky Wilson replied.
"Did you drink the porridge? This is this year’s new rice."
"Yes, we did. It was quite fragrant."
Master Floyd nodded at Vicky Wilson’s response and then looked at Sean Knight and Elijah Hastings.
"It is new rice, but it tastes a bit medicinal. Is it a medicinal meal?" Sean Knight responded.
The corner of the old monk’s mouth turned slightly upwards:
"Not exactly, but we added some ingredients that are good for the body and mind."
"How come I didn’t taste it?" Vicky Wilson asked curiously.
Master Floyd did not answer. He pointed at the ox-headed god and said:
"This is the most efficacious deity within a hundred miles. But after today, I’m afraid it will no longer be efficacious."
After speaking, Master Floyd looked at Sean Knight.
Sean Knight understood clearly why he was being looked at.
He had touched the eaglewood for the longest time, so naturally, his scent was the strongest.
