Chapter 768: Chapter 466: Turns Out the Old Monk Isn’t a Good Person Either!
After taking everything out of the secret room, Sean Knight looked around carefully and saw that there was nothing left. He then left and closed the door behind him.
He put some books in the backpack for appearance’s sake, then left the side palace, locked the door, and walked back to the East Side Hall.
Elijah Hastings was there, worriedly sorting through items. As Sean walked in, he spoke up directly:
"Boss, it’s hard to choose! All these things look pretty valuable to me, and I’m not comfortable leaving any of them behind..."
Then fine, pack everything, and we’ll take some with us now, while the rest we’ll take out and hide in the car. Once we leave, we’ll take them away quietly!"
"Okay!"
After hearing Sean’s advice, Elijah became overjoyed.
Sean noticed that many of the ancient books were medical texts, some of which couldn’t be found in the domestic market at all.
They were such great finds!
Sean immediately activated Sky Eye, and discovered that the books had been flipped through before.
He suddenly thought of the Old Monk. Did he come here to read regularly?
According to Oscar Tan Surlang, the monk truly knew about the books.
But did he know about the secret room?
Sean couldn’t tell.
He didn’t want to guess either.
Now that they’ve secured the treasures, for the time being, it seemed the Old Monk was not a bad person, at least on the surface.
So, better not to worry about it for now. They would take the items and figure things out later.
Better safe than sorry!
Upon receiving Sean’s instructions, Elijah quickly packed the books, sealed them, carefully stacked them together, put them into the backpack, secured it, and then said to Sean:
"Boss, you keep an eye on things. I’ll take these out first!"
"Be careful, there are dogs in the village, don’t get caught!"
"Don’t worry, I have a way of dealing with dogs!" Elijah chuckled and ran out.
He and Douglas Cooper, who were acting separately, had studied the layout of the village well enough to know the quickest way out of there.
Moreover, their car was parked outside, so Sean had no worries about Elijah’s ability to put the items in the car.
After two trips, Elijah had collected all the ancient texts.
"Boss, how’s the situation on your side?" Elijah asked, still excited. "Do you need any help?"
"No need. There weren’t many things on my side. I’ve already packed them." Sean patted his backpack and continued, "Alright, let’s lock this place up, go to sleep, and leave tomorrow. Better safe than sorry."
Elijah nodded in agreement.
Regardless of the value of these items, since they were stolen, Elijah felt it necessary to reclaim them.
The two men left the side palace, locked the door, and quietly went to the single-story house.
Back at the house, they entered their room, closed the door, and each got into bed. Sean listened quietly to the sounds on both sides.
The Old Monk’s breathing rate was slower than when they had left.
Sean checked his mobile phone and found that they had spent a total of nearly forty minutes.
Unexpectedly, the powerful anesthetic capable of knocking out an elephant barely lasted an hour on the Old Monk!
Sean believed that in less than half an hour, the Old Monk would be in a normal sleep!
This guy is amazing!
Observing Vicky Wilson on the right, she was still sound asleep, breathing normally and with a steady heartbeat.
There was no longer any smell of anesthetic gas in the air. Although it was effective, it evaporated quickly and would disperse and disappear as soon as there was a gap.
That’s why it was so convenient to use, and even if the Old Monk found something amiss the next morning, he wouldn’t have anything or anyone to blame.
Sean signaled to Elijah, and the two closed their eyes and went to sleep.
Early the next day, Sean and Elijah both got up.
The Old Monk had gotten up even earlier than they had and was now sweeping the courtyard of fallen leaves.
Elijah offered to help, but the Old Monk waved him off, saying:
"I do this every day, so there’s no need for help. You take care of your own business. The villagers will bring breakfast later, and if you need to wash up, there’s a room over there where you can get water."
He pointed them in the right direction and then continued to sweep the courtyard.
Sean and Elijah didn’t insist, washed up, and then saw the Old Monk finishing his sweeping and putting the broom back in the corner of the wall.
With not much else to do, the two walked to the back of the single-story house.
There was a vegetable field there, with seasonal vegetables growing.
"These vegetables are growing pretty well!" Elijah exclaimed.
Sean looked at the green cabbage plants and narrowed his eyes, pausing for a moment.
There seemed to be more to this vegetable field...
Seeing the change in Sean’s expression, Elijah whispered, "Boss, this vegetable field..."
"There’s probably something buried here." Sean shook his head. "Bodies or something the like, the vegetables are growing all wrong."
Upon hearing Sean’s words, Elijah immediately changed his expression.
"Don’t be surprised. The Old Monk could discover this too." Sean said, "We’d better not meddle. Let’s just eat breakfast and leave."
At that moment, the Old Monk brought a water bucket to water the vegetable field. Watching his proficient movements, Sean suddenly asked:
"Master Floyd, people in our region water the plants at night, why do you water them in the morning?"
"If I water them in the morning, by the time the sun comes out, the water will have already reached the soil." Floyd explained while watering, "It doesn’t affect the plants."
