Chapter 679: Chapter 435: Going Against the Flow!_2

By the time they found the place, they had already arrived at the neighboring country at war.

The other party had also lost track of them, and Elijah Hastings could have left directly.

He had already contacted his wife and asked her to return home first.

The reason he didn’t leave was that the village he was in was hiding a treasure secret.

Now another group of people had their eyes on this place. Elijah was saved by the villagers because he got lost, and he wanted to fight the outsiders together with the villagers.

It was impossible for Elijah to do it alone, so he thought of Sean Knight.

According to Elijah, he had already communicated with the villagers. As long as they helped the village through this crisis, the villagers would help Elijah and his team find the treasure hidden deep in the desert.

There were indeed many doubts in this, and Elijah had asked why not directly reveal the secret to those people and exchange it for the safety of the villagers?

The villagers’ answer also explained this issue.

A total of three villages knew the secret - or, to be precise, three villages held clues to the secret, and now two of them had been silenced.

However, the clues controlled by these three villages were not exactly the same; some were complementary, some were overlapping. It’s possible that those people got the clues but couldn’t find the place, or they got the clues and were afraid of them leaking from this village.

So this village was in danger at the moment.

According to Elijah, this matter could be handed over to the government to handle. However, the village elder said that the idea of handing this over to the government was like a fairy tale in their place.

The government wouldn’t intervene, or even if the matter was reported to the government, they would sell them out after asking for a protection fee.

Such things were all too common here.

After making various inquiries in the village, Elijah felt that the treasure was quite real, so he contacted Sean Knight.

He was also in danger and hoped that Sean could arrive as soon as possible.

Charles Young drove the Gulfstream 800 on a long flight, landing in the capital city of the neighboring country at war.

"You take the plane and go to Cairo, wait for our news, then come to pick up people," Sean said to Charles Young, "It’s not safe here either, you’re our backup route, don’t get caught."

"Don’t worry, boss!" Charles Young assured him.

They bought two off-road vehicles here, Sean took one out for a test, and when he drove it back, the car was already loaded with plenty of stuff.

They did the same with the other car, and when they left the capital, both cars were loaded with quite a lot of stuff.

They passed many checkpoints along the way, and each checkpoint had people guarding, checking, and collecting money.

However, when they saw Sean and his team’s faces and knew that they were Chinese, these checkpoints let them pass smoothly.

"It seems our country is really getting stronger!" Douglas Cooper joked, "These people all recognize us."

Sean shook his head:

"I’m afraid it’s not because they recognize us. It’s because our warships have been on the seaside recently, and they don’t want to touch this moldy head!"

"Well, that also means we’re stronger now!" Douglas chuckled, "Boss, what’s our main goal over there?"

"To arm the village and fight the war; you guys will primarily take care of that."

Douglas Cooper was eager to give it a try: "It’s been a long time since I’ve had a good fight, my hands are really getting itchy!"

"How about the equipment?" Lincoln Harrington, driving the other car, asked through the walkie-talkie.

"There’s some in the car, I’ll figure out the rest," Sean said.

The further they drove, the more remote it got. At first, they occasionally encountered a village, but later on, there was nothing but the Gobi and the desert, not to mention villages, there were very few people.

"How did Captain Hastings manage to go to such a remote place?" Douglas was really curious.

After driving for a day, they turned to spend the night on Gobi Beach, resting behind a wind-blocking dirt slope.

The temperature difference between day and night in the desert Gobi was huge. Fortunately, they had tents and sleeping bags, and with someone on night duty, nothing happened during the night.

However, there was an extra jar of snake soup for breakfast the next day.

Two snakes came over at night looking for food, but ended up as food in someone else’s mouth.

"You don’t say, these snakes in the desert really have a unique taste!"

The three of them tasted the snake soup and planned to continue on their way.

However, a faint sound of a car engine came from afar, which surprised Sean.

He turned to ask Lincoln:

"How far is Elijah’s village from here?"

"Three hundred kilometers."

"Are there any other villages over there?"

"No."

There’s only one road leading to Mount Hua!

"There’s a car coming, and I suspect..." Sean said, "It’s very likely the group Elijah was talking about, or at least part of them. Now we should..."

"Ambush them?" Douglas got excited, "Since we’re here already, wouldn’t it be a shame not to take a shot?"

"I think it’s doable!" Lincoln said, "As long as we can confirm it’s those people, there’s no issue with us making the first move!"

"Douglas, you contact Elijah, and I’ll go with Lincoln to set up the ambush."

Sean and Lincoln quickly took their guns out of the car, climbed up the dirt slope, found a suitable position, and prepared for the ambush.

Douglas was in contact with Elijah, hoping that the car wouldn’t drive too fast, or else he’d miss out on the action.

The sound of the car’s engine became clearer.

Even Lincoln could hear it this time.

"Just one car, could it not be those people?"

"Let’s wait until they get closer to make sure."

The road was on the other side of the dirt slope. Although the slope wasn’t high, it was enough to hide the two cars. The wind and sand from the overnight storm had cleaned away any tire tracks, so Sean and the others weren’t worried about being discovered.

Finally, the silhouette of the car appeared on the road. It was a pickup truck, with seven or eight armed men sitting in the back. Four more people were sitting in the driver’s cockpit and the rear seat.

The road was uneven, and Sean and Lincoln quickly noticed that there was a rope tied to the back of the pickup truck. On the rope, they were dragging a person, who no longer had a human shape!

These people were dragging someone to death!

As the car got closer, the whispers of conversation from the truck’s occupants could be heard.

"Hutuk, what are you going to do in the village this time?"

"Make them give up the information, or else, burn it down..."

"What if they cooperate?"

"Then treat them to bullets... Hahahaha!"

...

No doubt, it was those people!

"Boss, let me change to a bigger weapon..." Lincoln said, "This thing won’t be enough; they have too many people!"

"Okay!"

Lincoln retreated quickly. A minute later, when he returned, he was holding a man-portable rocket!

When the pickup truck was about fifty meters away from the dirt slope, Lincoln suddenly took a suitable firing position, lay down, aimed briefly, and pulled the trigger!

When Lincoln appeared at the top of the slope, the people in the pickup truck had noticed their presence. They shouted and started firing at them!

Sean appeared by Lincoln’s side and shot the gunner first!

The rocket was fired amidst the gunshots. The driver had noticed and tried desperately to steer off course!

Too late!

Lincoln had anticipated their move, and the rocket sped up to several hundred meters per second, flipping the pickup truck and exploding it into a huge fireball!

Two of the smarter ones had jumped out of the car but were quickly taken down by Sean.

"You guys are too fast!" Douglas climbed up from behind the slope, looked at the still burning car, and couldn’t help but complain. Then he ran over with his gun, planning to see if anything valuable was left.

Lincoln threw away the disposable launcher and followed with his gun. Sean trailed leisurely behind.

However, after the explosion, there probably wasn’t much left.

As expected, when they arrived, the bodies were torn apart, and the guns and other equipment were destroyed, with no value left.

"Damn poor!" Douglas said in disappointment, "Never mind, let’s hurry up. Captain Hastings must be getting anxious."

"Alright, let’s hit the road. In the meantime, tell Elijah about this. We’re not sure if there’s another road."

Several hours later, Sean could see an oasis up ahead from the car.

According to Elijah, this was the village where he was located.

However, at this moment, thick smoke was rising from the village, which instantly put Sean and the others on alert!
