Chapter 498: Chapter 346: Trouble Follows Trouble
After shooting the fuel tank, Sean Knight quickly changed his position and waited for the right moment.
As he expected, it didn’t take long for Elijah Hastings’ gunshot to ring out.
Knowing Elijah’s approximate location, Sean knew where to aim his shots.
Seeing the security personnel running to the edge of the vacant land but stopped by Elijah’s gunshot, Sean didn’t bother with them and instead aimed at a man in the middle of the scene.
The man was driving a logging machine with a circular saw in front, capable of cutting down a large tree in just a few minutes.
He aimed his gun at the logging machine’s fuel tank, and with a "bang," the fuel tank was broken. The workers hiding on top scrambled down in terror and hid in a pile of dry tree leaves, not daring to move again.
Sean was pleased with this shot.
With just one bullet, a piece of machinery was rendered useless, making it worthwhile.
Pulling the bolt, calmly reloading the bullet, Sean looked for his next target.
Donald Wheeler had already roughly determined the direction from which the shots were coming. He hesitated for a moment before aiming his gun and firing in that direction.
"Bang!"
He had only fired one shot when a bullet from behind him struck his gun.
Donald frantically leaped into a pit beside him, not daring to move anymore.
The sniper behind him had obviously shown mercy, otherwise, his head would have been blown open by that shot!
He couldn’t be reckless anymore!
The other security personnel didn’t have this realization and were instead stimulated by the gunshot, shouting and charging forward with their guns.
"Bang!"
The fastest one suddenly fell to the ground, dropping his gun and screaming in pain while clutching his leg.
His lower leg had been struck by a bullet, breaking the bone and exposing the stark white bone shrapnel amidst the blood and flesh!
The two men beside him were incited by this gunshot, continuing to charge forward, while the two behind them quickly stopped to help dress the wounded man’s wound.
"Bang!"
Sean fired again.
Donald’s earlier shot had made Sean realize that he shouldn’t linger after firing. He had to change his position.
However, Elijah’s actions afterward made him feel he could hold on a little longer.
The faces of the two security personnel charging forward were clearly visible in the scope, their expressions somewhat crazy with their mouths wide open, and even their dirty teeth could be seen.
Sean slightly lowered the muzzle and aimed at their knees, pulling the trigger.
The recoil of the 98K gun was significantly greater than modern firearms, causing Sean’s shoulder to jolt back a bit. This minor injury didn’t bother him, as he immediately picked up the gun, got up, and moved to a higher location about twenty meters away.
This place had been scoped out beforehand as being more advantageous.
When he raised his gun and looked through the scope again, he found that the security personnel no longer dared to advance, and some were even turning back to run.
Sean smiled and muttered to himself:
"See, if you’re fierce, people are afraid of you and won’t mess with you. If you’re always smiling, people think you’re a good person, and even a beggar might dare to bully you—even though you’ve always repaid brutality with kindness, right?"
Sean’s sentiment did not affect his ongoing combat, as he slowly moved his muzzle to search for his next target.
After puncturing the tires of the cars one by one and destroying all the larger machinery, Sean felt that it was time to end this.
Some people couldn’t stand it anymore, throwing away their guns and machines and fleeing into the forest.
Owen Stewart watched all this, furious.
Just a few shots had reduced his month-long efforts to nothing!
Who were these people? Why did they do this?
He couldn’t figure it out, but he hoped that if the sniper shot the escaping workers, things might improve.
However, in the end, he was disappointed. The workers escaped into the forest, and no more gunshots were heard.
The attackers didn’t intend to slaughter them all.
The workers quickly realized this and no longer lingered in the area. At first, they bent down and ran towards the outside of the forest, but as the shots didn’t continue, they grew bolder and started to run outright.
Workers who had thrown away their guns and machines knew that as long as they escaped and didn’t work here, they would be safe.
Owen frantically shouted:
"Stop! It’s a trap! Damn it! Stop!"
However, no one listened to him.
Some people even deliberately avoided his position while running, even if it meant running a few extra steps.
Owen was furious.
He looked around but couldn’t find the enemy.
And yet he wasn’t willing to give up.
Owen reached into his pocket and pulled out a lighter.
With a sly glint in his eye, he ignited the lighter and set fire to the nearby dry tree leaves!
The fire blazed up instantly!
From a distance, Sean saw this through his scope.
Watching Owen’s smug expression as he got up and started running away, Sean moved the muzzle and shot without hesitation!
This guy must be the leader of these people, a real villain!
Almost simultaneously, in another direction, Elijah also pulled the trigger!
Two bullets struck Owen’s body at nearly the same time, their powerful forces from different directions causing his body to twist in an instant.
Blood and flesh flew through the air as Owen was flung into the sky, only to come crashing down heavily, extinguishing a small flame. That was probably his final contribution in this world.
