Chapter 461: Chapter 327: Where is the Treasure_2

In the end, the most valuable item found was a well-preserved katana, buried who knows when. According to the appraisal, it was not a mass-produced sword from a factory but a treasured family heirloom of a Japanese lieutenant.

It was worth about ten thousand US dollars.

Aside from that, there wasn’t anything else of value.

Buying the courtyard had cost a lot, but the items they found now were far from worth the money they had spent!

At this point, Caprio Parker also realized that their efforts had fallen short.

But now, he was even more curious about what Sean Knight had dug up back then.

He examined the traces of the excavated soil carefully.

As Sean had left in a hurry then and hadn’t filled the hole back up properly, the pit was quite visible.

So, Caprio Parker knew that Sean had taken away two boxes that were about a meter long and half a meter wide.

If they were full of gold, the value would be enormous.

If there were other things inside them, it would at least be worth millions of dollars!

So, Caprio Parker was very eager to know what Sean had found.

His indirect message didn’t force Sean out into the open, but instead, let him successfully leave the Philippines and go to Jakarta City.

That wasn’t his domain, so there was nothing he could do.

He could only console himself by thinking they would surely return.

Caprio Parker guessed that there were still at least half of the locations in the diary that Sean had not explored, and there was no reason for him not to go there.

In that case, there will always be an opportunity for revenge!

His guess was correct. Half a month later, Sean and his team set out from the island again, taking a boat along the South Sea almost touching the nine-dotted line, all the way to the Philippines.

Then, they stopped at a place called Rock Island.

The island wasn’t large, not even a tenth of the size of Sean’s original island.

However, because this place used to be a military harbor during the war and was still a transportation hub, the original port was converted to civilian use. As a result, it was quite bustling. There were quite a few boats coming and going, belonging to both locals and tourists.

"Boss, are we staying here this time to salvage the treasure?" Douglas Cooper asked from the boat.

"Hmm, let’s see," Sean recalled the lines in the diary.

Mikado’s Island, originally called Rock Island, was later renamed by General Yamashita Fumio to symbolize loyalty to the Emperor.

Now it has been renamed back.

During World War II, this place used to be the base of a Japanese fleet in the Philippines. Late in the war, most of the warships were sunk near the harbor, where Yamashita Fumio stayed for some time.

Back then, the reporter was ordered by Yamashita Fumio himself to escort a civilian ship carrying Japanese expatriates and some military officers’ families back to Japan on one of the warships. However, the early arrival of the war resulted in the sinking of both the warship and the civilian ship.

Because of this, Yamashita Fumio left hastily and never returned.

Sean had also looked up information online during this time. Rock Island was quite famous and a popular destination for treasure hunters.

Many people had tried to salvage the sunken ships there before, but apart from some weapons and the skeletons and personal belongings of the passengers on the civilian ship, nothing of great value had been recovered.

With the ocean currents causing the shipwrecks to change every year, later treasure hunters had little success in finding anything at this location.

Sean had been skeptical about whether or not there was any treasure here.

However, since they had some free time and their own boat, they decided to come and take a look.

Seeing the busy harbor, Sean hesitated for a moment and then let Elijah Hastings, who was handling the yacht, dock.

Resupplying was necessary, and they could not afford to draw too much attention.

After resupplying and resting in the harbor, they did not want to expose their identities. Among the group, only Douglas Cooper disguised himself, sticking on a big beard and messing up his hair to wander around the harbor, while the others rested on the boat.

Living at sea for a while had caused them to become quite tanned and disheveled. The beautiful yacht seemed a bit out of place, which aroused the curiosity of some onlookers.

However, Sean Knight and his companions didn’t care. When asked, they simply said they were on a global trip, and no one asked any more questions.

There were quite a few yachts at the Rock Island Port, and theirs didn’t stand out.

Mingling with other yachts, they went out during the day for a cruise nearby or stopped somewhere for the people on board to dive. They returned to the port at night or anchored near the port overnight, so anyone who observed them would also know they were indeed tourists.

Sometimes, the people aboard even exchanged the seafood they caught in the sea for fresh fruit with others on vacationing yachts, further reinforcing the fact that they were tourists.

The only thing was the absence of women on this luxurious yacht, which became a major talking point for others.

Sean Knight and his companions didn’t mind this at all. During the day, their yacht didn’t stick to one fixed diving location. But when they actually dived, their main goal was to search for the sunken military ship and civilian ships.

However, after three days without any results, they finally turned their attention to the port itself.

Rock Island used to be a military harbor with a naturally deep port.

Now, it is primarily used for tourism purposes and has virtually no large ships docked. Depths of several tens of meters were not needed.

As they dived, Sean and his team immediately discovered that beneath the port, there were several sunken warships!

However, it seemed normal to them. This place used to be a Japan Army naval base; the sunken Japanese warships were probably the result of the actions of the Allied forces.

Sean Knight dived down to the top of the warship, and the Sky Eye scanned it; it was indeed a sturdy ship.

There was a large hole on the side of the warship, almost splitting it in half. This was most likely the main cause of its sinking.

Various sizes of fish were entering and leaving the warship, indicating that an ecosystem had already formed.

Sean continued to dive, starting to feel the pressure.

However, his strong physical fitness allowed him to withstand the pressure.

As he came to the side of the warship and Sky Eye scanned it, Sean found that the weapons, including cannons and other large parts, were still intact but scattered on the seafloor.

Then, Sean discovered something strange!

It seemed as if the warship had been deliberately sunk - there was also a large hole at the bottom!

The warship was "sitting" directly on the ocean floor.

Coming to the bottom of the warship, Sean used Sky Eye once more to scan inside the warship and saw something he had been dreaming of!

There was something beneath the warship!

However, getting the thing out from under such a large warship wasn’t going to be easy.

Sean tried to dig a hole in the silt under the ship but couldn’t. The ship had sunk too long ago, and its weight was buried a meter or two deep in the silt, making it impossible to move.

Sean swam into the ship to find the large hole and try it out, only to discover that the place beneath the hole wasn’t where the hidden objects were; they were several meters away.

He surfaced and returned to the yacht to ponder the situation.

Whether the warship was deliberately placed on top of the objects or it was done unintentionally was now impossible to investigate.

However, those things below the warship were neatly arranged, obviously placed there deliberately.

People had probably dived down there before, searched inside the warship, found nothing, and given up.

No one would have imagined that beneath the warship lay the objects everyone had been dreaming of.

Although the quantity didn’t match the legendary Yamashita Fumio’s treasure and wasn’t as much, it was already quite a considerable amount!

Sean guessed that the objects beneath the warship were most likely sunk by the Japan Army. However, it was unknown whether they were preparing to make a comeback or planning to transport the objects away later on, only for the people who knew of the objects’ existence to die one by one, ultimately leaving the objects untouched.

"Boss, what’s the situation under the port?" Elijah Hastings, wearing a diving suit, asked, "Should we go to the port or continue around the perimeter?"

"Let’s stay on the perimeter," Sean thought. Although they had found the items this time, they were hard to salvage.

They needed to find a secure way to retrieve the items without alerting others and ensuring their safety.

This was no easy task!

This time, Sean faced a real challenge.
