Chapter 1508: Chapter 719: The Game of Catching Up

Sean Knight’s Sky Eye was active, the underwater area abundant with complicatedly positioned reefs, both high and low.

Small fishing boats could still navigate through, but larger vessels, including the yacht they were on, could not.

Looking through the Sky Eye, the reefs in their current view continued forward for several square kilometers—in depths within five to six meters, reef formations were present.

This must have once been an island, now submerged due to rising sea levels.

Yet, they still couldn’t see any signs of treasures.

After all, the map was too crude, marked only by a single triangle, making it quite difficult to locate anything.

"Boss, we can’t go any deeper. There are too many reefs ahead, the radar shows it’s not suitable for the yacht to enter, we should..."

"Let’s circle around this area first," Sean Knight suggested, "to see the extent and size, and then decide. Scan carefully with the radar to see if there are any underwater caves or anything of that sort."

Elijah Hastings turned the yacht’s direction, slowly circling the "island" while monitoring the radar.

The island was indeed not large; it took less than 30 minutes to circle it. Sean Knight’s Sky Eye remained active, but he discovered no underwater treasures—just several wrecked fishing boats sunken nearby.

It seemed they needed to delve deeper to explore further.

"Boss, shall we anchor the yacht here and take the jet skis to have a closer look?" Elijah Hastings suggested as he further reduced the speed of the yacht, "The radar isn’t showing any signs of underwater caves."

"Alright. I’ll go check it out first. Leave someone on the boat to monitor with the radar. I have a feeling we won’t be able to stay here for long—that work boat’s ghostly presence might arrive at any time."

"Hehe."

"Let’s just run if they come."

"Exactly, we’ve got nothing better to do, might as well mess with them."

The three men were in high spirits, not particularly concerned about the possibility of the work boat coming to disrupt their treasure hunt.

Sean Knight chuckled and said,

"Okay, then let’s deploy the jet skis."

He made his way to the aft of the yacht where, aside from the rudder, there was a platform. Opening the cabin door revealed two jet skis docked in their mounts.

By flipping a switch, the jet skis would slide out of the inner cabin and into the water on tracks.

Sean Knight mounted a jet ski; with the Sky Eye’s assistance, he quickly found a waterway and decided to circle the island counterclockwise to assess the situation.

Underwater, there were sunken ships; as the jet ski cut through the water, he could see four or five sunken vessels, ranging from Middle Ages oared wooden ships to modern sailing boats.

Sean Knight speculated that these were either piloted by inexperienced sailors unaware of the local sea conditions or had been caught in storms, smashed against the reefs, and sank.

It was overwhelming underwater because the area used to be an island teeming with life, hence the abundant schools of fish. Due to the chaotic stones, trawling for fish was impossible, always risking getting tangled.

Underwater, there used to be some trees; now only stumps remained, either sunken to the seafloor or protruding through the water, covered with thick layers of aquatic life and tangled with many underwater plants, creating bizarre shapes.

Sean Knight circled counterclockwise while Lincoln Harrington and Douglas Cooper went clockwise on their jet skis, planning to meet at the back.

The island was small, but the search was slow. Sean Knight relied on his Sky Eye while Lincoln Harrington and Douglas Cooper used underwater detectors mounted on long poles.

After circling the island and finding nothing, Sean Knight prepared to check the island’s center.

Naturally, Lincoln and Douglas followed him.

The center area of the island also had many reefs, but mostly gentle slopes beneath which likely lay soil.

Sean Knight now had a rough idea of the entire island. The island was circular with a gap, missing about one fourth of its area in the northwest direction, which was a near-vertical cliff.

The rest of the island was flat with little variation in elevation, except for the eastern side, which was a gentle slope that extended downward toward a small bay, formerly a pier, with some relics still underwater.

Currently over the cliff, Sean Knight guessed there might be an underwater cave there.

Looking through the Sky Eye, he saw several caves on the cliffside about thirty meters below the sea surface.

The caves led directly to the heart of the island, but their paths twisted and turned.

Sean Knight hesitated, considering whether to dive down now to investigate.

However, it was clear that Lincoln Harrington and Douglas Cooper were not in favor of him doing so.

Their previous experiences had already frightened them enough.

So, when Sean Knight stopped his jet ski, Lincoln Harrington and Douglas Cooper quickly caught up on their jet skis.

"Boss, did you find something?"

"There are a few caves down there," Sean Knight replied, "several tens of meters underwater. I suspect they might be something. But it seems too obvious... If it really is a treasure cave, shouldn’t others have found it by now...?"

"Based on the water level, were these caves originally above water?" Lincoln asked.

"Not likely, they were probably always underwater."

"Then it’s possible. Back then, people didn’t have the diving equipment we have now, trying to dive down to find a completely unmarked spot was like finding a needle in a haystack."

"Exactly. Boss, we can’t apply our current thinking to the past. Consider this, the pirates were from the 17th or 18th century, right? Back then, diving skills weren’t advanced."

"That’s true," Sean Knight nodded, admitting he might have misunderstood, and added, "Shall we dive down and take a look?"
