Chapter 1509: Chapter 719: The Game of Catching Up_2

"We need to go get the diving equipment," Lincoln Harrington said in a hurry, "Boss, you don’t have to go underwater this time, leave it to us."

Sean Knight smiled, knowing that the two were concerned about him. Thinking it over, he replied:

"That’s fine, I won’t go down this time. Be careful when you do. If the pirate chose this for his Treasure Land, it definitely won’t be a simple task. Just like the stories in ’One Thousand and One Nights,’ finding the Treasure involves quite some trouble."

After a few reminders, Sean Knight let Lincoln and his team head for the yacht to retrieve their diving equipment.

Meanwhile, Sean watched from nearby, his Sky Eye still trying to see where the underwater Sewer System led.

The Sewer System was winding, and some parts went deeper than the Sky Eye could make out. Other sections were partially exposed.

The Sewer System seemed naturally formed, then modified by someone. Overall, it was just big enough for one or two people to stoop and pass through.

If Lincoln and his team wanted to enter with diving equipment, it would probably require significant effort.

Soon enough, Elijah Hastings and his group had put on their diving equipment and joined Sean. After greeting him, they dived into the water.

For safety, both men had ropes strapped to them, keeping a distance of about ten meters between them for mutual support, and easily avoiding any entanglement.

Shortly after submerging, they were surrounded by a school of fish.

Of course, the fish were just curious, and with a wave of their hands, the two men shooed the school of fish away and quickly located the Cave Entrance following the Cliffside.

The two men touched underwater, then Douglas Cooper stayed outside, while Lincoln Harrington stooped and squeezed his way into the Cave Interior.

Before, something must have concealed the cavern. But submerged for years, whatever had covered it was gone.

Not long after entering, Lincoln came back out—he couldn’t fit with the diving equipment on.

The two surfaced again.

They would need tools.

At the surface, Lincoln had an additional golden coin in his hand.

"Boss, there are indeed good things down here," he said. "I found this inside the cave while diving. But the Cave Interior is too narrow to get in; I’ll need to bring tools from the yacht to widen the entrance before we can enter."

There was another method—to remove the diving equipment and go in. It would require holding one’s breath for a prolonged time, which ordinary scuba gear would not suffice. Sean himself could have entered, but Lincoln and his team obviously did not agree.

Sean wanted to challenge Lincoln and his team’s abilities, so he agreed.

However, just as Lincoln was about to reach the yacht, Elijah made a phone call.

"Boss, there’s a boat approaching. Looks like a fishing boat."

"How far away?" Sean asked, frowning. This place wasn’t a fishing ground nor a Waterway. A boat coming here...

Clearly, they weren’t here for a friendly visit!

Sean gave a cold laugh, aware that this was the other party’s home turf, leaving him no choice.

"Let’s go. Take them for a spin," Sean commanded as he returned to the yacht on his motorboat. Lincoln Harrington and Douglas Cooper helped secure the motorboat, while Elijah Hastings slowly steered the yacht away from the area, heading west.

Half an hour later, the fishing boat dropped anchor at the spot where the yacht had been previously moored.

In the following half an hour, a salvage ship arrived.

"Jonathan, you say you saw a yacht stopping here?"

"Yes."

"And then?"

"Then I think they noticed us and left."

"Are you familiar with this Sea Territory?"

"Under the water is a reef area. We don’t come here often. Although there are plenty of fish, it’s impossible to cast nets."

The female staff member on the salvage ship frowned as she surveyed the Sea Territory.

"I wonder if there’s a sunken ship below..."

"There definitely is," laughed the captain of the fishing boat:

"Two years ago, a new fisherman who didn’t know the depth came fishing here, mistakenly entered, got their net snagged while trying to haul it in hurriedly and ended up hitting a reef and sinking..."

The staff member was taken aback, then nodded.

It was clear that the reefs were densely packed and certainly known to the local old fishermen.

"Are there any legends about Treasure here?" the staff member asked again.

"Treasure? None," the fisherman scoffed. "This has been nothing but a fishing village for hundreds of years. How could there be any treasure? I have heard there was pirate’s treasure on a small island to the south though. Of course, I’ve been there myself and found nothing."

The staff, naturally, knew that the unnamed small island was the exact place the fisherman had referred to.

They had initially thought that Sean Knight’s target was there, but now it seemed it obviously wasn’t.

But previously, where Sean Knight had stayed, salvage ships had already found some items. Not much of value, but at least it proved there were things there.

Now that the yacht had appeared here, did that mean there was something beneath these waters too?

The staff hesitated.

No sign of the yacht could be seen in the distance, so the staff ultimately decided to report the situation.

"That’s a rocky area; it’s unlikely there’s anything valuable there, especially since it’s not on the shipping route. Keep following," the person above concluded after hearing the situation.

The fishing boat and the work boat left.

The work boat staff, wary, took a detour and left a buoy in the area, intending to come back and check tomorrow.

On the yacht, the four men in the driver’s cockpit discussed the matter.

"The mountain cave is pitch-dark. It’s better to move at night," Lincoln Harrington, who had entered the mountain cave, naturally had the most say, "It makes no difference between day and night. We might as well go in at night to clear the path. If we find something, we take it right away, and since we don’t stay here during the day, no one will see us."

"Night is no problem," Elijah Hastings also said, "The radar can clearly see the waterway; there’s not much difference between day and night. It just requires more energy."

"So what?" Douglas Cooper laughed, "It’s less likely to be discovered at night, and the three of us can take turns. The boss can just stay above and oversee. It probably won’t take all night to find out what’s down there!"

Sean Knight could tell that Douglas Cooper wasn’t certain whether the mountain cave was a pirate’s hiding place for treasure.

Although Lincoln Harrington had brought out a golden coin, who could guarantee that coin wasn’t just left behind when the pirates moved their treasure?

Nothing could be confirmed until they had something in hand.

Now that all three agreed, Sean Knight naturally wouldn’t refuse. The next step was to prepare the tools.

Shovels, hammers, net pockets for stones.

Having prepared all the necessary equipment, the yacht took a wide sweep and stopped in a calm part of the sea.

After dinner, Sean Knight and the others rested.

As twilight fell, Elijah Hastings piloted the yacht and circled back to their previous position.

He immediately spotted the buoy left by the work boat.

"Boss, it looks like those work boats are quite interested in this place."

"Nevermind them. We’ll do our thing. Get as much as we can overnight, and leave at daybreak."

Next, Elijah Hastings and the others took turns diving into the water to work.

The more intense the underwater activity, the more oxygen they burned through.

Therefore, each of the three men took turns working underwater for 10 minutes at a time, switching out promptly when the time was up.

After one hour, they had made it almost 100 meters into the mountain cave, with each person having taken two turns.

They then surfaced, planning to take a short break before continuing.

Physical strength wasn’t an issue, but the oxygen consumption was a bit high.

The main reason for all three being underwater was so if one person got stuck, the other two could immediately perform a rescue.

After resting for an hour, the three went diving again, beginning the next round of digging.

By the end of the second round, Elijah Hastings had come across some findings—two golden coins.

The coins were irregularly circular, giving off the feel of privately minted currency. However, the gold was real, and the coins appeared quite ancient.

The four men increasingly felt that this underwater location was indeed where the pirates had hidden their treasure.

Only, the pirate had been cautious, somehow managing to make this waterway so concealed and difficult to navigate.

Sean Knight speculated that there might be other entrances elsewhere that still needed to be dug up.

Having even one passageway was good enough for now.

They dug another 100 meters moving forward, and by then daylight had broken.

Although no other boats had arrived yet, Sean Knight regretfully spoke to Elijah Hastings and the others:

"We have to withdraw."
