Chapter 1497: Chapter 713: A Treasure Hunt Full of Twists and Turns_2
Sean Knight didn’t insist. The depth of the seabed was around sixty meters, and given Douglas Cooper’s current physical condition and swimming skills, he could probably dive to the bottom—after all, he wasn’t like ordinary people.
However, he guessed that Cooper couldn’t stay underwater for long, so they would know as soon as he surfaced.
In fact, Sean Knight hadn’t planned to dive right beneath the yacht; he intended to take advantage of the water’s cover to dive directly near the unmarked small island they had just passed.
The Marine police work boat had already left the area, and now if Sean Knight dived over, they wouldn’t detect him.
Those people were actually quite wary of Sean Knight’s side, so as soon as they saw Douglas dive in, they immediately activated the radar, hoping to spot anyone approaching from underwater.
Fortunately, Douglas didn’t intend to come this way. He just went straight into the water, dove to the bottom beneath the yacht, circled around within a range of a hundred meters, and then resurfaced.
As he neared the deck, Douglas Cooper removed his diving mask, wiped his face, and lying on the deck, he shook his head and said,
"There’s nothing on the seafloor, not even a decent coral reef. No sign of sunken ships either, shall we try another spot?"
Sean Knight shook his head and replied,
"No, let’s wait." He smiled and added,
"We’re staying here to either wait for nightfall or to play a waiting game with that work boat. Since they already know our background and purpose, there’s no point in beating around the bush. As long as they can hold out, we will too."
Although he said this, Sean Knight still went diving. This time, though, he wasn’t diving for treasure but to gather some seafood.
The seawater in Norwegian Waters is teeming with marine life, with salmon and king crabs among the most famous.
Salmon is a generic term. In different countries’ consumer markets, the term salmon covers various species—Norwegian salmon is primarily Atlantic salmon, while in Finland, the salmon is mainly large-sized farmed rainbow trout with red flesh, and in America, it’s predominantly Alaska salmon.
Recently, there were reports of plans to import some salmon from Japan and then sell it as local salmon in China, which was a treacherous scheme indeed!
After all, Japan’s seafood had already been contaminated by nuclear radioactive water. Who would dare to eat that? The consequences of consuming it were uncertain.
Of course, in West Province, China, the domestically farmed salmon stirred some debate—some say that since it’s freshwater fish, it cannot be called salmon. Well, I suppose beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It can’t be that the rainbow trout farmed in Holland can be called salmon, but the same fish farmed in China can’t.
If you like it, eat it; if you don’t, then don’t. To be honest, as a person from West Province, Sean Knight himself found the prices there somewhat high.
Back to the subject, Sean Knight dived into the water and soon reached the seafloor.
He wasn’t foolish enough to compete with fish in a swimming contest. Once he reached the bottom, he searched around for a bit and found a few isolated king crabs.
After some effort, Sean tossed these large king crabs into the net pocket he had brought with him, and then from the sandy seafloor, he caught some flounders and added them to the pocket. Unexpectedly, as soon as the flounders were in, the king crabs started to eat them with their pincers.
Resigned, Sean had to search again and found several lobster shrimp, some mussels, and caught a few more fish in the complex underwater environment, then gently surfaced with the net pocket.
When Sean’s head emerged, Elijah Hastings and Lincoln Harrington, who had been watching, immediately came over—one helped pull Sean up and the other took the net pocket to process the catch.
"We’re in for a treat!" Douglas Cooper, who was on the upper deck observing the distance, laughed upon seeing the seafood.
Even for those living by the seaside, this wasn’t something to enjoy often; it was certainly a delicacy now.
Sean Knight came inside the ship cabin for a quick rinse, then came out to see that Lincoln and Elijah had already set up the barbecue grill and started the fire. He dragged over a chair and sat down, waiting to eat.
Truth be told, the temperature here wasn’t high, but thankfully there wasn’t much of a sea breeze, and they were all considerably more robust than ordinary people.
However, even so, after sitting on the deck for a while, Sean couldn’t help but suggest,
"Let’s prepare it inside the cabin. It’s uncomfortably cold outside."
So they carried the barbecue grill inside the cabin, and Douglas Cooper also went inside the cabin, rubbing his hands, to observe the surroundings from the cockpit.
Sean Knight went into the bedroom, with Sky Eye activated, continuing to watch the seafloor around them.
Before long, Elijah Hastings came over to call Sean Knight, saying the barbecue was ready.
After feasting, the sky had darkened.
"Boss, are we going to take action tonight? I see that the work boat doesn’t look like it’s planning to leave."
"Don’t worry about them. Let’s rest for a while, and then take the yacht out for a spin around the area. If they follow us, we’ll just lead them on a merry chase."
Sean Knight and the others had brought sufficient supplies before heading out to sea, so they weren’t concerned about logistical problems for the next two or three days.
When the work boat saw Sean Knight’s yacht leaving its original position, it immediately followed but didn’t leave Norwegian waters, merely edging closer to Sean Knight’s location, circling within the maritime territory.
The yacht wasn’t fast. Standing on the deck, with Sky Eye activated, Sean Knight was watching the sea.
This area of the sea was already very deep, reaching a depth of around three to four hundred meters. However, at that depth, ordinary people could not dive down, only professional divers with the help of equipment could reach such depths. Furthermore, Sean Knight could feel that the seafloor got even deeper toward international waters, beyond the reach of his Sky Eye.
At such depth, if there was something in the sea that one wished to salvage, it would be necessary to use an underwater robot or other tools.
Sean Knight did not know how deep he could dive himself as he had never tested his limits, mainly because it had never been necessary.
After sailing about ten sea miles, the work boat had been left far behind. However, because the yacht was always skirting the border between Norway’s maritime territory and international waters, the work boat continued to close in.
Suddenly, Sean Knight saw a canyon on the seabed, about thirty to forty meters wide, and it seemed there was something in it.
There was a limit to Sean Knight’s Sky Eye. As he scrutinized the contents of the canyon, he strained his eyes to see, and finally made out some details.
It was a... submarine!
An old-fashioned submarine!
Sean Knight was momentarily stunned. As the yacht moved closer directly above the seabed canyon, he could see it more clearly—it was indeed an old-fashioned submarine.
However, Sean Knight was not very familiar with submarines, and therefore, he was not certain about which navy it had belonged to.
After getting a clear view of the submarine’s style, the yacht had already moved past the seabed canyon and continued northward.
Sean Knight immediately took out his mobile phone and began to search for information about this submarine.
Old-fashioned submarine, Atlantic Ocean, Norwegian waters... With these keywords entered, many results soon appeared.
Then, Sean Knight saw an image that resembled the submarine in the seabed canyon—it was the famously renowned U-boat!
Sean Knight became excited.
During World War II, the U-boats were not only known for carrying out the devastating Wolf Pack tactics, but they also appeared in films and television shows as important conveyors of the valuable goods that Nazi Germany had captured!
Was this vessel hidden in the seabed canyon, or had it been sunk there?
Sean Knight did not know, but since he had seen it, how could he let it go?
The only problem now was that the seabed canyon was about four to five hundred meters deep, and he wasn’t sure if he could dive that deep.
However, it was said that professional divers, with their diving equipment, had managed to dive to the limit of seven hundred meters, so Sean Knight thought he should not be much worse, right?
Of course, that’s what he thought now. As for what was actually inside that underwater submarine, Sean Knight hadn’t really seen. At this depth, it was already the limit of his Sky Eye to have spotted something in the seabed canyon.
Next, only through personal exploration would he be able to find out what was truly there.
Turning his head, Sean Knight looked at the work boat that was faintly following behind. He had a feeling that the people on that boat would not let him explore those things so easily.
