Chapter 1392: Chapter 677: My Merchandise, That’s How Domineering I Am!_2
Yvonne knew her boss’s temperament very well, she gently nudged Teluk, then smiled at Douglas Cooper and said,
"How about we still purchase at the price listed in our contract? I’ve brought the car; as long as your boss agrees, we can sign the contract, make the payment, and load the goods right now!"
Douglas Cooper, with a smile that wasn’t quite a smile, said,
"Can you make that decision?"
He glanced at Yvonne, then his gaze landed on Teluk.
Yvonne was stunned for a moment, then her face turned beet red!
Then, his gaze fell on Teluk. It was quite clear what Yvonne intended—he hoped that Teluk would say something to confirm that what he had just told Douglas was true.
Seeing Douglas’s gaze turn towards him, Teluk felt a hint of pride; this kid still knew who was in charge, huh!
Caught up in his own pride, he didn’t notice Yvonne’s words, causing Yvonne to become even more embarrassed. And with that embarrassment came a flicker of anger.
The thought of trying to smooth things over had all but vanished.
"At this price, if you’re selling, then let’s count the goods now," Teluk said, feeling like his authority had returned. In his view, the price offered was already very high. He then continued,
"You’ve already made a lot of money at this price, be satisfied!"
Of course, Douglas Cooper was not satisfied. Hearing Teluk say this, he looked at Yvonne,
"Do you think the same?"
Yvonne nodded, not saying another word.
"Alright then, you can leave. At this price, we won’t sell." Douglas finished, turned, and left with an air of nonchalance that left Teluk’s mouth agape in shock!
This guy’s entirely different from before! Does he have too much personality now?
Yvonne, struck by a sudden inspiration, called out to Douglas’s retreating figure,
"Douglas, has someone already contacted you, offering a higher price?"
Douglas stopped in his tracks, turned around to look at Yvonne, and said with a smile,
"You’re quite clever!"
Yvonne’s face changed dramatically, and he turned to look at Teluk.
The worst he had feared had happened!
Teluk was completely stunned. How was it possible?
It was not yet three days; it had only been two days’ time!
How could someone have already made contact with this Chinese man?
He thought he had come quickly enough. The time difference, by his calculations, should have been three days at least!
Teluk too became anxious. He quickly looked at Douglas, but after Douglas dropped that remark, he left.
"Boss, quick, raise the offer!" Yvonne bit his lip; although he was reluctant to handle the matter any further, if the deal fell through, he would have to take responsibility upon his return regardless. Gritting his teeth, he hissed at Teluk in a low voice.
Teluk hesitated for a moment.
Raising the offer would be like giving away the profits he was due!
He truly couldn’t bear to do it!
In the moment he hesitated, Douglas had already walked over to the tents.
Yvonne sighed, no longer speaking.
In fact, if he wanted to raise the price, he could have just called out to Douglas, and he felt that he could have been summoned back.
But Teluk’s silent attitude let Yvonne know that his boss did not want to increase the offer. He was probably still doubting whether what Douglas said was even true.
There was nothing more to say.
The Diggers who had come to spectate didn’t care about such subtleties, and immediately they began discussing among themselves. Some said Douglas was bluffing, others said Teluk was too stingy to make an offer, and some envied the tall stack of boxes, speculating about the amount of goods therein.
And so on.
Upon hearing these discussions, Teluk began to regret not stopping Douglas when he had the chance. Now that the man was gone and he was left here, not knowing whether to stay or leave was embarrassing!
After thinking it through, he told Yvonne,
"Yvonne, you stay here and continue negotiating with them, trying to secure those items."
And then he left!
He actually left!
Yvonne felt like there were 10,000 "f*ck your mother" horses galloping through his mind!
Dammit, you don’t want to spend the money but still want to get the goods? Where’s the logic in that?
Teluk didn’t wait for his refusal and quickly made his exit, leaving Yvonne with no one to curse at.
Seeing one of the key players leave and the other’s boss depart, leaving behind just an assistant, the other Diggers felt it was no longer interesting and dispersed.
Rather than watching others and drooling in envy, it was more important to dig up something tangible to exchange for money.
After these people left, the Campground became somewhat quieter.
The team members continued their excavation, but the work that followed was considerably less.
The items Sean Knight had buried had been nearly dug up, and what was left to clear out were the items from the original warehouse.
Although these items had lost a lot of their value due to being submerged for a long period, they were better than nothing.
And far better than the scrap copper and iron dug out from the soil.
They were at least batches of Equipment.
But the haul was not as big as before, and the team members were not as enthusiastic as they once were.
Yvonne had no choice but to ask the team members to get Douglas back out. He still needed to negotiate.
Over the Walkie-Talkie, Douglas, having heard the outside situation, instructed the team members to tell Yvonne: if there were no new prices, there was no point wasting words.
He could see that Yvonne was not in a good position and simply told the truth straight away,
"The new Buyers are arriving today. If you don’t have a new offer, don’t bother coming here again later."
Yvonne, upon hearing this, just smiled bitterly.
If he had a new offer, he would have presented it long ago. Why else would he still be lingering here?
Truth be told, he really didn’t want to give up on such a big deal.
