Chapter 1340: Chapter 660: To Save or Not to Save?
Sean Knight didn’t put away the scepter, as he suspected that if the woman wanted to find him, she most likely tracked him through the scepter. If he stashed the scepter, the woman probably wouldn’t be able to locate him anymore.
In his bedroom, Sean Knight took out the mask and the bronze sword to begin absorbing the energy contained within.
The mask appeared very luxurious, yet the energy it contained wasn’t even a tenth of what the bronze sword held.
Moreover, the energy within the mask was extremely frenetic, necessitating Sean Knight to purge some harmful elements from it.
The energy in the bronze sword was much more singular, primarily assaulting in a very straightforward manner.
The presence of this energy made Sean Knight feel exceptionally invigorated. It was precisely the sort of energy he needed—even if it couldn’t assist him directly, it allowed his spiritual energy to develop in that direction.
In less than an hour, both the mask and the bronze sword reverted to their original, mundane appearances—their energies completely depleted.
Sean Knight felt the energy inside his Sky Eye unusually abundant and believed he might be able to upgrade it before long.
Actually, there were still many objects containing energy within the space, but Sean Knight didn’t rush to absorb all of that energy.
In his view, it wasn’t yet a pressing time to do so.
Advancing half a step is genius, one step further is madness.
He didn’t want to become a target for research by the world’s prominent violence groups.
Hiding his abilities was the better option.
Lying down, it didn’t take long before dawn broke.
Sean Knight didn’t go to the port to meet Joanna Davis. The Sharde Group is probably going crazy looking for him, aren’t they?
Although he had ample evidence to prove he wasn’t present at the scene of Groove’s murder, those lunatics wouldn’t trust such evidence. Otherwise, they wouldn’t do something like wielding a Bible to claim ownership of a place.
By that logic, could the Chinese People, armed with the Classics of Mountains and Seas, declare themselves as Earth’s masters? Or claim to be the rulers of the moon simply because of the folktale of Chang’e flying to the moon?
Sean Knight was convinced that for the stock certification worth hundreds of billions of US Dollars, the Sharde Group would definitely commit to the premise "better to kill thirty million wrongly than let one go."
Therefore, Sean Knight planned to stay in the hotel for a few days. If that woman could come up with something of equal value, then he’d consider trading with her.
Actually, considering they were in the same line of work, Sean Knight felt that a trade that wasn’t too far off would be acceptable. There weren’t many in the world who had energy within their bodies like them.
Moreover, he and she should be on the same side—both disdained the activities of the Davena family.
Early the next day, Sean Knight had breakfast in the villa. No one came, not even Kathy Lewis knew about Sean and his group’s return.
When Elijah Hastings and the others learned about Sean Knight’s thoughts, none of them went out but stayed in their rooms playing games. They all welcomed the rare leisure time to rest.
After all, the previous period had been somewhat hair-raising.
"Boss, the incident in the Antarctic has caused a great stir. Many countries have sent representatives to investigate," Elijah Hastings said during lunch:
"That icebreaker was found, and when the maritime rescue helicopters from two countries arrived, the icebreaker was reportedly engaged in a firefight with another vessel.
But the other ship quickly left upon seeing the helicopters arrive, while onboard the icebreaker, there were numerous casualties."
Sean Knight nodded but said nothing.
"Now, many reporters have followed the ships to the Antarctic, and on television, the footage of the huge hollow place has appeared. Just unsure whether the things beneath will be discovered."
"It’s difficult," Sean Knight replied as he ate, "With such conditions, opening up that pit is almost impossible.
Plus, with the Antarctic’s extreme cold weather, just one blizzard could half fill the hollow place, rendering it unsuitable for rescue operations."
After the meal, Sean Knight tried to contact Robert by phone but found he couldn’t get through, and even the number had already been canceled.
Had the Sharde Group tracked him down?
While he suspected it, by the afternoon, Sean Knight received a message from his bank account showing ten billion US Dollars divided into ten transactions had been deposited into his account!
This indicated that Robert was still working on that Money.
He must be safe.
During dinner, Lincoln Harrington spoke up:
"Boss, there’s been some unrest in the mercenary world recently. Some well-known solo mercenaries have disappeared. Some were found dead, others simply vanished. These individuals all had one thing in common; they were skilled in disguise."
Sean Knight nodded, indicating he understood.
This must be the Sharde family’s doing. Unable to find the person he impersonated, they targeted mercenaries instead.
It’s uncertain how that girl is faring—
Of course, the main culprit is the Sharde Group, and Sean Knight wasn’t about to overly dramatize his own role.
After dinner, Sean Knight told Elijah Hastings and the others:
"For the next two days, let’s keep a low profile. You can go out, but it’s best to alter your original appearance, and be cautious about your safety."
Back in his bedroom, just when Sean Knight was about to examine the antiques he acquired this time, a soft tapping sound came from the window.
Looking over, he saw that woman outside—still clad in a tight suit!
Just then, Elijah Hastings’s voice came from outside the door:
"Boss, everything okay?"
"All’s fine," Sean Knight replied, "I may have to step out for a bit. Don’t worry, I’m safe."
