Chapter 1337: Chapter 659: This Thief Is Not Pretty
Night had fallen, and except for the occasional vagrant or drunk wandering aimlessly by the roadside, hardly anyone could be seen.
Cars were also scarce, with only the occasional police car patrolling or on a mission passing by.
Elijah Hastings parked his car at the entrance to an alley less than 50 meters from the shopping center.
"There are no cameras here, perfect for parking. If we drove any further, the cameras would capture the car. However, on foot, we can bypass them," he explained.
Four people got out of the car, and Sean Knight followed Elijah and the others around a few circles to the rear entrance of the shopping center.
"Boss, this is it," Elijah pointed at the modern-looking shopping center and said, "There are security guards inside, and the front gate is locked. However, there’s a back door used for deliveries, we can get in through there."
At the back door, Sean discovered it was just an ordinary rolling gate with a common iron lock.
Lincoln Harrington crouched down, took out a piece of wire, and quickly picked the iron lock, then quietly rolled up the gate.
"I can go in alone. You guys keep watch outside. If anything happens—like alerting the police, just give my mobile phone a buzz," he instructed.
After Sean went inside, Lincoln pulled the rolling gate down again, and the three split up to their previously agreed spots to keep watch.
Sean entered the inside, which was pitch black, but that didn’t hinder his vision—there was a hallway ahead, leading to various directions. It wasn’t long, and he could see some closed storefronts and shelves.
The elevator was operational, but Sean opted not to use it and instead opened the door to the emergency stairwell and started climbing the stairs.
The first and second floors were uneventful, but just as he reached the third floor, he noticed a security guard at the entrance of a store.
Upon closer inspection, it was a store that sold high-end, handmade food products.
The guard fiddled with the door for a while and opened it. He clearly thought no one would catch him, so he walked in boldly.
The guard expertly grabbed a bag from the corner, then started filling it with food from a small fresh-keeping cabinet.
After the bag was full, the guard walked out, locking the door behind him and munching on some food as he headed back to his post.
Sean shook his head, it seemed that this guy was not new to helping himself to the goods.
Ignoring the guard, Sean prepared to head up to the fourth floor.
Just then, he suddenly heard an unusual noise!
Looking in the direction of the guard, he was surprised to find a dark figure helping the guard to a seat.
Food was scattered all over the floor, and after settling the guard, the figure began picking up the food and placed it on a table in front of the guard.
Sean quickly darted into a corner—it looked like this person was also here on a stealth mission, just like himself!
After arranging the food, the figure looked around and then walked towards the stairwell.
Sean’s Sky Eye was active, and he could see that the figure was a woman, dressed in a tight suit and wearing a hood, with a good figure but an ordinary face.
Even with Sky Eye, Sean found her appearance to be quite plain.
Body a nine, face a five.
She seemed to be of mixed heritage, with light blue eyes and blonde hair, though it was all tucked into a hood, somewhat resembling the Lizardman from X-men.
Watching the woman stealthily move to the stairwell and then pull open the emergency door, Sean silently followed her.
The woman’s goal appeared to be similar to Sean’s, and he certainly did not want to be outdone by her.
As she felt a chill from behind, she quickly turned and swung the short knife in her hand.
However, the knife swiped through empty air, and there was no one there.
Sean perfectly controlled his body, always staying behind the woman.
Confused, the woman scanned around again but found nothing before quickly proceeding up the stairs.
However, at the top of the stairwell, there was just a wall.
No doors, no windows.
Just a bare wall.
The woman paused briefly, then started feeling around on the wall—her body had a slight amount of spiritual energy, which gave her better night vision than ordinary people.
But her abilities were far inferior to Sean’s.
After feeling around on the wall for a while and finding nothing, she reluctantly started lightly tapping the wall with her short knife.
Sean had already noticed that this wall was also a mechanism.
If it were daytime, it would be apparent that the stairwell was frequently used. In an inconspicuous corner, there was a white protrusion, which was the mechanism.
Pressing the mechanism would cause the white wall to rise and reveal a locked iron gate.
But at night, it was just a wall—unless one had the patience to painstakingly explore.
This woman clearly lacked the patience.
She tapped the white wall with her short knife, and one could hear that there was a hollow space in the middle of the wall.
But with only a short knife in hand, it was unlikely she could pry the wall open.
Sean didn’t want to waste time, so while the woman was turning around to probe, he quietly pressed the mechanism.
The wall slowly rose, startling the woman!
She immediately backed off, maintaining a cautious posture.
Only when she saw the white wall rise to the top, revealing the locked iron gate, did the woman relax.
She looked around again and didn’t discover anything suspicious.
The woman seemed puzzled, then approached the front gate to inspect it.
Perhaps she thought she had accidentally hit the mechanism?
