Chapter 1235: Chapter 625 You Must Learn to Enjoy!

"The Holy Beetles are catching up!" the anxious voice of a team member from the last car came through the headset, "Boss, what should we do?"

"Speed up!" Sean Knight said, "Full speed ahead!"

Douglas Cooper was still a bit puzzled:

"Aren’t Holy Beetles just what we call cockroaches? Flying isn’t a problem, but eating people... Don’t they eat shit?"

"These must be mutants," Sean Knight thought briefly and replied, "Everything under the Pyramid is pretty sinister. Think about the Ancient City Ruins we encountered in the Middle East desert. Was there anything normal there?"

Recalling the flying serpents, beetles, and scorpions they had encountered at the ruin site, Douglas Cooper nodded deeply in agreement.

"But we can’t outrun something that flies..." a team member worried.

"Our car is sealed. Even if they do catch up right now, they should not be able to do much," Sean Knight comforted everyone the best he could.

Those beetles seemed to be tracking moving targets; after taking off and circling in the sky, they headed straight for Sean Knight’s convoy.

Most of the people in the Campground had already been surrounded by beetles. The screams carried from afar and then abruptly stopped, sending chills down everyone’s spine!

As the three off-road vehicles frantically sped away, a cloud of mutated beetles caught up and enveloped the three cars!

Tires rumbled, crushing countless beetles, with their green bug innards contaminating large swathes of sand, turning the tracks into a mess of squashed bugs.

Every now and then, unbowed beetles crawled out of the sand, flapped their wings to fly, but unable to do so due to broken wings, resorted to sucking the blood of their own kind!

At this moment, another convoy was coming from Aswan. Seeing the situation here, they felt no impending danger and thought it to be some spectacle. The cars even sped up towards Sean Knight’s location, wanting to see what was going on.

Sean Knight and his team frenziedly operated their windshield wipers, scraping off the beetles stuck to the car windows. Seeing the approaching vehicles, the driver kindly turned on the headlights and flashed them as a warning.

But the oncoming vehicles seemed not to care.

"Damn it, it’s like a ’Foreigners Die Less’ movie series!"

The beetles clung to the car, frantically gnawing on the metal shell, but to no avail. Even though the beetles were severely mutated, they couldn’t penetrate the car’s metallic exterior for a while.

Although they knew they were temporarily safe, the passengers inside the car couldn’t help but worry upon hearing the grating sound of beetles gnawing at the car shell.

Sean Knight’s Sky Eye was always on. Suddenly, he saw that the beetles probably had spotted the approaching convoy and immediately split into a large group, swarming towards those cars!

In the sky, a swarm of beetles could clearly be seen dispersing from their cars towards the others, engulfing them!

The drivers of the opposing cars were clearly unprepared, and when their windshields were smudged with beetles, they instinctively swerved, causing their vehicles to crash into the hard soil on the mountainside!

The impact split the car open; doors were forced ajar; most beetles were shaken off, but a few quickly spotted the car’s vulnerability and swarmed towards the people inside!

Screams abruptly erupted!

By the time Sean Knight and the others passed by, the people in the car were no longer recognizable.

"Let’s go, there’s no saving them!" Sean Knight spoke into the headset.

The other few cars reacted quickly; noticing this problem, they immediately steered their cars to flee in all directions. Once the beetles spread out, they became far less intimidating.

Huh?

Sean Knight suddenly noticed that the beetles seemed to be slowing down significantly.

The sound of beetles biting into the car shell lessened, and some beetles could no longer hang onto the car, falling off.

He turned and looked behind; indeed, the majority of the beetles had slowed their movements, and even more could no longer fly.

Sean Knight breathed a sigh of relief.

"Boss, these beetles seem to be growing weaker?" Elijah Hastings also noticed the problem and said.

"Yes. They are probably not accustomed to the air outside after being in the cave for so long; it’s possible they haven’t eaten in a long time and are out of energy. Anyway, it looks like we might be past the danger now."

The car continued to speed along, but the beetles on it became fewer and fewer; soon, Sean Knight saw that after almost half an hour, not a single beetle was left.

They drove another dozen kilometers and stopped the car by the roadside.

Sean Knight and the others got out and saw the paint on the car was gnawed all over, some areas revealing the metallic frames underneath!

"Damn it, these beetles have some fierce bite, don’t they?" Douglas Cooper exclaimed, "If we had given them more time, who knows if they could have chewed through the car!"

"We’re lucky they’ve weakened," Lincoln Harrington said, still shaken, "Otherwise, who knows how long we would have had to run?"

"Let’s go," Sean Knight said, "the beetles may have given up the chase, but who knows what else is out there. It’s best if we leave this place soon."

The car started again, heading towards Aswan.

What Sean Knight did not know was that at this moment, the majority of the beetles had died off, but a few that had feasted on human flesh were visibly growing larger. Some laid their eggs inside the still un-devoured human bodies, while others began flying off into the distance!
