Chapter 1234: 624

Sean Knight didn’t take the item, bypassed it, and continued forward.

Ahead were the bizarrely shaped mummies—through Sky Eye, Sean Knight saw animal mummies like lions and leopards.

Were these the original owner’s pets?

How tragic!

Moving on, he finally reached the massive stone coffin.

Above the stone coffin lay Anubis—it seemed that even he could not escape worldly attachments, requiring the god with the head of a dog as his guardian.

Under Sky Eye, within the stone coffin, there was a golden sarcophagus.

Inside the golden sarcophagus was a mummy—around the mummy were placed various valuable ornaments, including scepters, golden balls, gemstone balls, golden masks, and so on.

Sean Knight estimated that just the items he collected from the Subterranean Palace, the weight of all the goldware combined, must be several dozen tons!

How could there be so much precious metal in this land?

Without hesitation, he took the stone coffin, and astonishingly beneath it, there was a one-meter-square black hole!

Looking down through Sky Eye, it was very deep, and it didn’t look like it was man-made; it was clearly natural.

And there was humidity and stench in the cave—could it be a natural underground cavern?

Just as Sean Knight hesitated whether to go down and explore, the distant voice of Elijah Hastings rang out:

"Boss..."

"Poisonous!"

"Everyone, don’t enter..."

It turned out that Elijah Hastings and his team had already dug open the cave entrance and returned.

"Don’t come in, there’s toxic gas inside!" Sean Knight yelled, then glanced at the hole once more and quickly retreated.

The items were now in hand; there was no point in staying any longer, let’s go.

Sean Knight quickly made his way back to the entrance of the Underground Palace, where he saw Elijah Hastings and two others guarding the entrance. The other team members had already gone up.

"Boss, how did it go?"

"It’s a long story..."

Sean Knight hadn’t finished speaking when he heard something wrong behind him!

About thirty meters away from the entrance, there was suddenly a muffled sound, followed by a massive tremor!

Damn it, they’ve detonated again!

Turning his head, he saw a hail of rocks falling down, and then someone cheered:

"We nailed it! Hurry down, there’s light below!"

"Let’s go!" Sean Knight said, "Let’s not get involved in this mess!"

As he finished speaking, another muffled sound came from nearby, blasting another big cave!

It turned out that it wasn’t just Maramart’s group that was using explosives!

As Sean Knight and his team ascended, the last place where the stone coffin had been placed, a sea of twinkling little eyes appeared!

At that moment, several entrances to the Underground Palace had shadows of people appearing in them.

The subsequent tremors caused another batch of sand to fall.

Fortunately, previous tremors shook most of the sand down, and with team members constantly on guard above, the two latest tremors didn’t completely block the entrance.

After reaching the surface, a team member lamented:

"Such a pity—if there weren’t any toxins, we would have been the first ones in."

"There are gas masks in the car, should we..." another team member suggested.

"No need," Sean Knight waved his hand, "let’s go! There’s... nothing good left inside."

He patted his backpack and said:

"The best stuff is in here. So let’s go, this time, a bonus of 100,000 dollars for each team member!"

Hearing there was a harvest and the bonus was so high, the team members all became happy.

"All right, let’s bury this place!" Sean Knight then ordered, "and then let’s withdraw quickly!"

Digging up might be hard, but burying was all too easy!

Everyone worked together, and quickly the sand buried the place. Just then, another blast rang out, conveniently erasing all the traces left by Sean Knight and his team.

Back at the car, Douglas Cooper asked:

"Boss, want to stick around to enjoy the spectacle and rest a while?"

"No need, we’re leaving immediately!" Sean Knight had a premonition of danger.

And the danger originated from underground!

Sean Knight now felt grateful that Elijah Hastings had shown up in time, dissuading him from further exploration below, otherwise, he might have been in real danger!

Having packed up the tent, they were about to depart when the three armed men came over again.

"Hey, you’re leaving, each car pays another 10,000 dollars!" The leader’s hat was nowhere to be seen, but by the look on his face, he was quite sure of himself in squeezing Sean Knight and his crew.

If these three had not come over, Sean Knight and his team would’ve indeed forgotten about them.

"Give them a beating and take back the money they extorted, and we’ll have a feast in Cairo!" Sean Knight said from inside the car.

"What are you saying? I can’t understand you!" The leader was dissatisfied, brandishing his automatic rifle, "Hand over the money quickly..."

Perhaps Sean Knight’s prompt payment earlier had given him a false confidence, or maybe he thought they were easy to bully.

The people inside the cars, after hearing Sean Knight’s words through the headset, stepped out of the vehicles.

As they moved forward, the three men realized they were outnumbered and immediately raised their guns.

But against several former special operations team members, how could they stand a chance?

In just a moment, they were disarmed.

After a beating, they obediently revealed the hiding place of the money.

A team member ran out and soon came back with a backpack.

The three men lay beaten in the sand, unable to move, while the three cars swiftly drove away.

"Boss, when I went to get the money just now, I heard screams coming from those underground pits. I don’t know what kind of thing came out!"

The team member who retrieved the money reported to Sean Knight through the headset.

"Full speed ahead!"

At Sean Knight’s command, the three off-road vehicles roared, kicking up clouds of sand dust, charging into the distance.

From the holes that Maramart’s team had blasted, a swarm of black things suddenly emerged!

The people who were still in the camp were instantly engulfed by these black creatures!

"Mutated Scarabs—my God! Run!"

An expert, recognizing the creatures, was scared out of his wits, dropped what he was holding, and ran toward the exit as fast as he could!

Those who were slow to react were soon wrapped by the black things, and their screams filled the air...

After consuming the "meat," some of the mutated scarabs actually started to flap their wings, taking flight—pursuing Sean Knight and his team!
