Chapter 1236: Chapter 625 You Must Learn to Enjoy!_2
More of the living beetles eventually returned to the underground palace, crawling back through the hole they had emerged from.
Before long, calm was restored to the campsite. Not a trace was left of the bodies of those people, only scattered tools remained.
After arriving in Aswan, Sean Knight and his team finally let down their guard.
Aswan was still lively. In the distance, one could see cars arriving one after another, and some people were even coming by foot.
All these people had heard about the appearance of the relic and wanted to try their luck before the government sealed the area, hoping to strike it rich.
Sean Knight and his team’s car had attracted a lot of attention as it approached from the direction of the relic, especially now that the car was in such a state; many were watching it.
However, no one came over to ask questions. Sean even heard some people whispering, guessing whether they had run into a sandstorm to have the paint on the car end up like this.
Sean Knight realized that they had actually managed to come up with such an explanation.
Considering the power of the sandstorms in the desert, it was indeed easy to confuse the two.
The team members got out of the car, and they set up camp at the edge of the small town, preparing food.
Though there were inns in the small town, they were overcrowded, and Sean and his team didn’t want to squeeze in with those people, nor did they believe the food there would be better than what they could make themselves.
As the team members organized their equipment, Sean, with a headscarf draped over his head, strolled through the small town.
After spending hundreds of dollars, Sean had actually received a useful piece of information.
Howard Kensington of the Daveler Family was staying right here in the small town!
The information received from Maramart left Sean a bit baffled; after all, within the same country, there could only be one true address, or perhaps none were accurate.
The status of Maramart determined that what he knew was certainly not as much as what Howard knew.
Sean went to the inn in the small town. There were rooms that had once been booked by Maramart, not yet vacated, and now Howard was staying in them.
The inn was in a chaotic state. The waiters could be seen trying to keep busy, but with too many guests, both the boss and the waiters seemed a bit overwhelmed.
Disputes and the dissatisfied shouting of customers would occasionally erupt.
Sean Knight made his way through the crowd and headed to the second floor.
The largest room in the middle of the second floor was where Howard was staying.
Sean approached the entrance, knocked on the door, and asked,
"Is Mr. Howard here?"
"Who is it?" A middle-aged man’s voice came from inside.
While Howard had braced himself for less than ideal conditions, he hadn’t expected them to be quite this poor!
The walls were covered in stains, the sheets and quilt covers looked like they hadn’t been washed in ages, and beneath the bed were numerous cigarette butts and bits of paper.
But looking at the rough faces of the ill-intentioned men outside, Howard, even though accompanied by two bodyguards, didn’t dare to stay in a tent outside of town.
This morning, he had packed up his things, eager to head to the relic site as soon as possible.
But Maramart’s phone calls had been unattainable, and Howard was getting anxious and irritated.
"I am a friend of Maramart, and I have something to discuss with Mr. Howard."
"Please come in." Howard sat at the head of the bed, reaching under his pillow.
Though the other party could mention Maramart’s name, which basically meant they could be trusted, Howard’s own family was involved in illegal businesses, so he wouldn’t easily trust a stranger.
Under the pillow was his pistol, which he carried with him at all times. If the other party had ill intentions, he wouldn’t mind showing them some color here.
"Hello, I am a friend of Maramart." Sean entered the room and, after confirming the man was Howard, said, "There’s been some trouble on Maramart’s end. He asked me to tell Mr. Howard to not be in a hurry to go to the relic site, it’s very dangerous over there!"
"What? Trouble?" Upon hearing this, Howard was shocked and stood up abruptly, overturning the pillow next to him and revealing the pistol underneath.
Suddenly, things became somewhat awkward.
Sean glanced at the gun but paid it no further attention, continuing to speak:
"Yes. Maramart and his team found the subterranean palace beneath the pyramid and used explosives to get inside. Then, countless holy beetles from the underground palace came out—they devour people... It’s extremely dangerous there now, so it would be better for Mr. Howard to wait before going."
Howard sat back down and sighed.
If that were the case, then indeed, it wouldn’t be wise for him to go there.
Taking advantage of his distraction, Sean flicked his wrist lightly, and medicine powder dispersed towards Howard.
Howard, still deep in thought, didn’t notice Sean at all. He had already believed Sean’s words—after all, Maramart’s team had indeed planned to use explosives to open up the secret chamber inside the pyramid.
Once the government learned about it, they would never allow them to continue mining.
The medicine powder quickly took effect, and Howard’s gaze grew vacant.
Sean began to question him immediately.
Half an hour later, Sean left the room and closed the door behind him.
The inn was still bustling as he left.
However, once he was outside the inn, he discovered that news of danger at the relic site was already starting to spread through the small town.
Sean guessed it was those in the cars that they had encountered, who had managed to avoid the danger posed by the beetles and had since returned to town.
These people had spread the news, and now it naturally circulated throughout the town.
He returned to the car, where the team members had already prepared food.
