Chapter 1217: Chapter 618: It’s Really Hard to Say Who Will Win or Lose!_3
The water in the swimming pool was extremely murky and emitted a foul odor.
Team members started donning gas masks, and then, armed with sticks and iron hooks, began to clear the blocked water exit.
Others stirred the water in the pool with sticks, mixing the garbage with the water, so that when the water exit was cleared, all this debris would flow out together. Otherwise, it would be more troublesome.
However, despite poking at the water exit for a long time, it did not open, and it was unknown what was stuffed inside it.
Then Sean Knight heard a "plop" as a team member jumped in.
The water inside was really dirty!
Sean Knight had earlier asked others to prepare tools, hoping to avoid human entry—yet in the end, someone still dove in.
Then another one jumped down. Two men plunged into the neck-high water and began to dig out the contents of the water exit from beneath the surface.
The two men working at the water exit were much faster than those holding tools onshore, and within minutes, a whirlpool started to form on the surface of the water, and the water level visibly began to drop.
The two team members emerged from the water and climbed onto the shore.
"Go take a shower in the villa quickly," Sean Knight urged, "and find some clothes to change into."
One of the team members, pulling a rotten vegetable leaf from his ear, said laughing:
"Boss, do we need to? We might have to go down again later."
"It’s fine, just go," Elijah Hastings also said. "There shouldn’t be any more problems. Your smell is strong; it could give us away."
With that reasoning, the two men were no longer reluctant and immediately went to change.
Sean Knight planned to give each of these two team members an additional 10,000-dollar bonus when they got back.
After all, their initiative deserved a reward, or else he would feel guilty for not recognizing their efforts!
The water level fell rapidly, and other team members began to disperse, patrolling the manor. This was partly a disguise and partly to stay vigilant against any enemies attempting to enter.
Being ready to respond to unexpected situations was now ingrained in their minds.
As the water drained, some heavier pieces of garbage were not swept away and remained at the bottom of the pool.
It had to be said, the handiwork of the general’s men was quite revolting.
Sean Knight jumped into the pool, heading for the hiding spot.
There was actually more hidden beneath the pool than just the item he was after.
But that item was the most important.
To save time, Sean Knight skipped the camouflaging maneuvers and, wielding a crowbar, smashed it down into the pool.
A tile was knocked loose with a dull thud.
But he did not care. The object sealed inside would require brute force to access.
Then Lincoln Harrington brought over a rechargeable cutter machine.
He began to cut at the spot Sean Knight had smashed, and soon a large chunk of concrete with tiles attached was cut away.
Next, Sean Knight used a crowbar to clear underneath and then struck hard, knocking open a hole.
Under the gaze of Sky Eye, a rich scent of Faith Energy escaped from the interior of the cave; although the other team members felt nothing, Lincoln Harrington and the other two sensed it faintly.
The treasure the boss was after was indeed a gem!
Sean Knight pulled out the item from inside, didn’t even look at it, and stashed it in his backpack. Then he pointed to two other spots.
From those two places, the team members pulled out two boxes of golden bars. This wasn’t surprising to the team members.
There weren’t many in the two boxes; Sean Knight estimated there were around ten kilograms in total, worth only several hundred thousand dollars, just about enough to give out bonuses to the team members.
"Now block the water exit and fill the pool with water. Once it’s full, we’ll leave," he instructed.
Having obtained that "Holy Relic," Sean Knight was already quite satisfied, and the next step was to head back.
"Are we leaving tonight?" Elijah Hastings asked by the poolside. "What about the tribal warriors?"
"We leave together," Sean Knight replied. "Since we came together, we leave together. Notify them and have them tell those outside that they have urgent business back at the tribe. If those people are unwilling, make a direct phone call to Hejani."
Sean Knight wasn’t worried about the safety of the tribal warriors—most likely, neither the general nor the Minister of Internal Affairs wanted to see a firefight in Kabul, especially an internal one.
So, the general would have only one choice: release them.
Of course, in his view, Sean Knight and his team had not yet arrived; they hadn’t entered the villa, they hadn’t searched for anything.
So, he mentally felt he still had the upper hand.
Sean Knight was playing a game of timing.
By the time they departed Kabul, when the general learned of the situation and thought to chase after them, it would be too late.
The plan was perfect; Sean Knight and his team got in the pickup truck and were already preparing to leave Kabul.
"Boss, there are cars headed to the manor!" Elijah Hastings suddenly informed through the headset. "I see soldiers inside. Our setup might be compromised. Should we go back and deal with them first?"
"How many cars?" Sean Knight asked urgently.
"Five, enough for a platoon of soldiers," Elijah Hastings answered.
"No, get the tribal warriors on the phone as quickly as possible and tell them to leave, immediately!"
"Okay!"
"And we head out of the city now!"
The initially perfect plan had been disrupted, and Sean Knight felt a bit upset.
He had no intention of facing off against the general in this place.
He could not win. After all, his opponent was commanding a formal army unit, unless he could bring over that Heavy Combined Brigade.
But that was impossible.
So now, there was only one option—escape!
Sean Knight didn’t feel stifled. After all, he had achieved his goal; the next step was to safely get back to base.
He estimated that the general would receive news of the manor’s attack in half an hour, and then mobilize troops to pursue them.
That could buy nearly an hour’s time for Sean Knight.
In an hour, they could be tens of kilometers away.
By then, unless the general dispatched planes, catching up to Sean Knight and his team would be virtually impossible.
Now, it all hinged on how precisely they could time their escape!
