Chapter 1211: Chapter 616: I Really Didn’t Expect Him to Come!_3
The car drove from the city district towards the city suburbs, with Lincoln Harrington explaining to Sean Knight inside:
"That courtyard is quite large, not in the city center, and used to be quite peaceful. The facilities inside were also very good, but although some have been restored, they haven’t reached the best condition yet."
He already knew that the courtyard was about to belong to Sean Knight, so he was quite detailed in his explanation.
"It’s fine," Sean Knight was unconcerned, "Let’s not worry about the inside for now, just leave it be. After all, we hardly have chances to stay here."
Since there was friction with the general, Sean Knight would certainly not come here to invite trouble if it weren’t necessary.
All he hoped was to quickly find either the original contents of the box or a clue.
Sean Knight didn’t hold much hope, but this was, after all, a lead. He wouldn’t be content not to follow it.
The car stopped on a pitch-black roadside. Lincoln Harrington explained:
"We’re about 500 meters from that courtyard. If the car goes any further forward, we’ll be discovered. I suggest we sneak over."
"Fine," Sean Knight agreed, "You said the latter part of the night was more reassuring, right? Let’s not rush it. Let’s spread out and scope out the situation first. All four of us have good night vision. We’ll survey the surroundings and then make our move."
With that said, no one had any objections.
The pickup truck parked quietly here, with one person remaining in each car, while the rest got out, spreading out and following the lead of Sean Knight and his group to scope out the area.
Sean Knight, after confirming the location of the big courtyard, followed the road and headed over.
The road was uneven; Sky Eye activated, occasionally spotting crudely patched bullet craters, distinguishable from the rest of the flat ground due to hasty work, creating tripping hazards.
The Sky Eye could see dried purple bloodstains and patchy bullet marks on the wall alongside the road.
This was indeed a city laid to waste.
Through Sky Eye, it was apparent that some of the houses here were quite ancient. These should have been well preserved as a testament to history, but now some had become ruins.
Sean Knight arrived outside the wall of the big courtyard.
He had seen two of the four groups of secret sentries mentioned by Lincoln Harrington through Sky Eye. Those two groups were incredibly lax, with the three soldiers of one group fast asleep. The villa’s windows had telescopes mounted in plain view, not covered at all.
The other group was slightly better, with one soldier dozing off in front of a telescope, while his two comrades were talking in their sleep.
Therefore, Sean Knight led his men to the outside of the courtyard with ease, and he could observe the "villa" of great extent in detail.
Calling it a villa was a bit of an understatement – it was more like a manor. After all, the small building was only three floors, not that large in terms of area. But the additional gardens, swimming pool, lawn, warehouse, and even a small horse farm made the property quite substantial.
Sean Knight focused on the villa itself.
However, nearly 100 meters away from the villa, even with Sky Eye activated, Sean Knight could only make out the wall unclearly.
He couldn’t discern any specifics.
The courtyard’s outer wall was three meters high, with newly installed iron wire mesh on top, but it was clear that it did not match the style of the original wall. The wire mesh was not electrified; Kabul was unable to supply so much electricity even for the privileged few who owned electrified wire mesh.
This was just the simplest type of barbed wire mesh—not even razor wire—which was no longer used in China’s border defense facilities. Usually, herdsmen would use it to enclose their ranches.
"Boss, should we go up?" a team member whispered, suggesting, "We could form a human ladder, climb up, and just cut the wire mesh. When we leave, we can reconnect it with thin iron wire, and they won’t realize anything was amiss."
"Alright," Sean Knight took another look around, and after finding no patrolling soldiers inside, he nodded.
The others kept watch, while three team members silently approached the wall and formed a human ladder. The person on top easily snipped a big hole in the wire mesh with pliers, then crawled through first.
The team member who jumped down checked inside and finding no issues, gave a light tap on the wall.
The team members on this side took their turns climbing through, with Sean Knight in the middle for safety.
After everyone had crossed, the team members spread out across a thirty-meter radius, stealthily moving towards the villa building.
Sean Knight understood that if there were any clues, the likelihood was highest inside the building.
But as they approached the villa building, Sean Knight’s Sky Eye spotted figures.
Indeed, as Lincoln Harrington said, there were five people inside the villa, scattered across the rooms near the stairs on the first, second, and third floors.
Two on the first floor, two on the second, and one on the third.
All these soldiers were sleeping in their clothes, guns still in hand.
This indicated these soldiers were essentially battle-hardened elites.
However, Sean Knight had his methods. He gestured to the advancing team members to stop and pulled out a package of powder from his pocket.
"You wait here, I’ll put them to sleep," Sean Knight whispered.
"Boss, you can’t go!" the team members immediately objected.
"Don’t worry, I have better physical skills than you, and I make less noise. When it comes to tactics, you guys are sharper, but in terms of physical quality, I’m stronger." Sean Knight insisted on going and then showed the team members what it meant to land without a sound.
"Is the boss learning light body skills or something?" the team members, noticing Sean Knight really made no sound going over, speculated among themselves.
Sean Knight tiptoed to the window; the temperature was still alright, and the window was open. He blew some of the powder inside.
The reason he didn’t let the others do it was in case the wind direction changed, potentially affecting the person distributing the powder—which could create complications.
But Sean Knight had energy protection, so he wasn’t worried.
Then, using the same method, the people in the other two rooms were also incapacitated.
"Let’s go in, the main thing is to find if there are any back rooms," Sean Knight whispered instructions to the team members and then began to use Sky Eye to scrutinize the entire villa.
And then, they encountered a big "surprise"!
