Chapter 1212: Chapter 617: The Real Hunt Has Just Begun!
The Villa had been searched countless times. Even the walls of the basement bore marks of being smashed.
Obviously, it was not just Sean Knight who was thinking about the original wealth of this wealthy merchant; those who later entered were also searching for everything that might be hidden here.
This huge villa, which had over a dozen rooms on each floor, had two basements that were open to view. These two basements once stored a large quantity of valuable items, as could be seen from the luxurious shelves decorated with various copper pieces.
And there used to be many nail holes on the wall that likely once held precious paintings.
Now, only rectangular outlines remained.
Not only that, anything in the villa that was slightly valuable had already been moved out, including the copper-clad pieces that should have been on the stairwell corners.
But Sean Knight’s attention was not drawn to those open basements or those valuables that had been removed.
The first place his Sky Eye focused on was somewhere that nobody would pay much attention to.
It was the ceiling above the first-floor restroom.
Because it was a restroom, a ceiling was added above—this was quite ordinary.
Even if one were to dismantle the ceiling, they would only see a cement ceiling.
But in fact, the cement ceiling was a bit thick, or to put it another way, it was at least one meter lower than the other ceilings on the same plane—however, no one would probably care about this detail, after all, a restroom in the villa is still a restroom.
And the floor height of each story in the entire villa exceeded five meters, so a one-meter difference was not noticeable.
The restroom covered an area of about fifteen square meters. In Sean’s Sky Eye, the top of the restroom appeared intentionally filled with something, and the items inside were quite dazzling.
These were rows of iron shelves, filled with fairly new US Dollars and a small box of gold bars.
Other shelves held various antiques, famous paintings, and jewelry.
These must be the original master’s private collection.
It was just that the original master did not take them with him, and the new master had not discovered them.
Unless the later master renovated the villa extensively, it might take many years for someone without the Sky Eye to discover such a treasure room.
Sean Knight didn’t hesitate, other team members had already gone in to search. They were unclear whether those warriors were truly asleep or anesthetized; they went in first to scout a safe path for the boss.
Sean Knight turned into the first-floor restroom.
The team member searching the first floor thought Sean Knight needed to use the restroom and did not follow. They had already searched the restroom and found no one, so they were not concerned about Sean’s safety.
Upon entering the restroom, Sean looked up and found the distance a bit high; he couldn’t reach it at all.
There was no one else inside, and it was fairly clean.
Sean took out a step ladder from his spatial realm and set it up quickly, climbing up with speed.
Under the gaze of the Sky Eye, the structure of the drop ceiling was unmistakable; he bent down at ease, removed a section of the drop ceiling, and then put it into the spatial realm. He adjusted the ladder to a higher notch, resting it against the ceiling.
He fiddled around on the wall for a while, found a switch, and gently twisted it, probing.
This gadget was mechanical and allowed for multiple attempts; however, if one couldn’t open it after many tries, most people would probably give up.
Sean Knight did not.
After several attempts, he breathed a sigh of relief, letting go of the inconspicuous ash-colored switch, then he reached up to hold the ceiling and slid it to the side, revealing a hole.
Sean poked his upper body through and began to transfer the items inside into his spatial realm one by one.
By a conservative estimate, the cash plus those gold bars and gemstones in this place totaled several million US Dollars.
Famous paintings were not counted—Sean’s ability to appraise them had always been weak.
He didn’t mind; appreciation eluded him.
However, this didn’t stop Sean from gathering all the paintings—anything stored here must not be ordinary. Though Sean might not recognize them, he believed in the collection standards of local tyrants.
What caught Sean’s eye were the collectibles—the US Dollars in his eyes were currently not much different from paper.
He didn’t have much else in his spatial realm, but he had plenty of this particular item.
Perfect, he could use it to pay the team members, as well as the warriors who came out of the tribe.
What caught Sean’s attention was an iron plate on the collecting shelf.
The iron plate was already somewhat rusty, resembling a lengthened card marked with the character "Command" that ancient officials used to have on their desks.
But this one had no characters, instead, it was adorned with a pattern of flames.
Sean unexpectedly thought of the "Fire Order" he had read about in novels.
Central Asia indeed once had Zoroastrianism, which is the prototype of the Ming Cult in those novels.
Could this be the Fire Order?
The iron plate was imbued with a substantial amount of Power of Faith, so rich that it nearly blinded his eyes.
Was this the thing he was looking for?
Sean took the iron plate into his hand.
The Sky Eye could see that it was an item from nearly eight hundred years ago, with a long history.
But the aura was different—the energy it radiated did not match the residual energy emanating from that wooden box.
It wasn’t it.
Sean felt a bit disappointed as he placed the iron plate into his spatial realm, considering it an unexpected find.
After clearing out the items from the iron shelves, Sean went back to the ladder, put the ceiling and the drop ceiling back in place, descended, put away the ladder, and exited the restroom, clapping the dust off his hands.
It was still early.
The team members outside were silently searching, but the Sky Eye could see that they were not reaping any rewards.
After all, that general had lived here for so long; if not familiar with everything, he likely knew enough. Hence it would be natural that he took most of the valuable items with him when he left.
