Chapter 1209: Chapter 616: I Really Didn’t Expect Him to Come!
Mr. Henija, although somewhat concerned, now that the matter was in his hands and the issue with the residence temporarily resolved, the next step was to inform Sean Knight——he hesitated, wondering whether or not he should remind Sean?
After some thought, Mr. Henija made a phone call to Sean.
"Mr. Knight, hello."
"Hello, Mr. Henija," Sean replied politely.
"Regarding the villa issue you mentioned, I have already consulted our leadership here. We take this matter very seriously and have communicated with the General. Our leaders say that you can come over in ten days. The villa is given to you as a gift for your cooperation with us."
Huh?
Upon hearing this, Sean initially felt quite happy, and he quickly said:
"Then thank your leaders for me. I will visit them after I arrive."
After hanging up, Sean thought to himself that the organization seemed to have a high efficiency in handling matters.
Out there, the tribes are now selecting their fiercest warriors—though that is what they say, Sean didn’t necessarily believe it. But he could truly feel that the tribal warriors were very willing to go to Kabul to protect him.
That was good enough.
Seizing the opportunity, Sean called Elijah Hastings and the other two over.
"This time going to Kabul, what are your thoughts, you three?"
"We’re all definitely going with you," blurted out Douglas Cooper.
Sean smiled. It seemed that Douglas was afraid of being left behind again.
"We can go," Sean said, "However, you might need a disguise."
"That’s no problem," Douglas said, laid-back, "Just wrap a headscarf, cover the face, stick on a couple of mustaches, and it’s sorted."
Seeing that they were all mentally prepared, Sean didn’t say much more.
"Safety first. Same as always, don’t take risks."
After Sean finished speaking, Elijah Hastings gave a stern glance at a grinning Douglas, saying:
"Boss, our plan is this: Douglas and I will follow you. Lincoln Harrington will take twenty team members and embed themselves into Kabul, so they can also covertly protect us."
"Fine. But remember, don’t get involved in anything else, we’re not planning to stay in that villa for long—get in quick, get out quick. Safety first."
And that settled the matter.
Sean didn’t realize that because of his request, the current situation in Kabul was stirring.
General Ahmadi, though not the first military leader to enter Kabul, commanded a force that was now pivotal in Kabul.
Therefore, despite his not-so-high rank, not many dared to ignore him.
But with the order from the Minister of Internal Affairs in hand, even General Ahmadi had to consider it seriously.
It was commonly known that everything in Afghanistan was focused on development.
Even though the organization still imposed some demands on the common people that did not quite fit the contemporary world narrative, one could clearly see that the focus of the organization had shifted towards reconstructing the country.
Thus, the previously not-so-important Minister of Internal Affairs had suddenly become important.
Even the wages for General Ahmadi’s people were now authorized by the Minister.
If it had been someone else, General Ahmadi might have just set the matter aside and not bothered with it.
But now, considering what General Ahmadi said, he indeed had two villas in Kabul, not just two villas but also two flats in the city center.
Although Afghanistan was poor, one of the poorest countries in the world, Kabul still had some high-rise buildings.
The kind that had not been bombed.
And while the funding of the organization used to be tricky, now that they controlled the government, things had become formal.
General Ahmadi knew that the old ways might not work anymore, but it wasn’t easy for him to change so quickly.
After much deliberation, General Ahmadi indeed agreed to move out of one of the villas.
It was just one villa, after all.
The face of the Minister of Internal Affairs had to be respected.
However, he did not plan to let the matter rest there.
It was the Chinese boy who had initiated the request. If you want to develop your coal mine in the remote Northeastern corner, that’s fine, and being a local tyrant is your own business.
But coming to Kabul and undermining my authority demanded that he teach you a lesson!
That was the genuine thought in General Ahmadi’s mind!
He summoned his adjutant, gave a few orders, and concluded with:
"If he’s smart, then just give him a lesson. If not smart, then let him stay here forever."
Once the adjutant had left, General Ahmadi put the matter aside. He had many important things to do and had no time to fuss over these trivial things.
Just an ant, to be crushed if necessary.
One day later, Sean and his group set off.
Of course, their departure was carried out quietly.
With some distance from Kabul, Sean and his group traveled by car in groups, silently entering the city district.
There were still three days until the ten days mentioned by Mr. Henija.
Sean and his group did not immediately contact Mr. Henija but found a hotel to stay in.
Kabul, as rumored, had ruins, but also vibrancy. In short, order was still being established; it was somewhat chaotic. On Main Street, there were more people passing quickly with covered headscarfs and the patrolling soldiers in their vehicles.
After learning about General Ahmadi’s temperament from the tribal elders, Sean knew that he had been likely set up.
