Chapter 1208: Chapter 615: Someone is Really Willing to Die for You!_3
Sean Knight nodded. Two hundred people would suffice.
After all, he was but a small shrimp.
Several people walked out and saw, indeed, at the base’s main entrance facing east, two groups of people arguing. The guards were watching from the side. The people were armed with guns, but the weapons were slung over their shoulders, with no intention of using them.
When Sean Knight and his group arrived at the entrance, the two groups immediately quieted down.
The leaders of both groups stepped forward as Sean instructed the door to be opened; one of them preempted the other and said,
"Mr. Knight, Elder Hassan, our elder told us to come to see Mr. Knight. We can definitely protect Mr. Knight’s safety. We are willing to take bullets for Mr. Knight!"
"We can, too! We can die for Mr. Knight!" another one also rushed to say, "With us here, Mr. Knight will certainly be safe!"
Truth be told, hearing that someone was willing to die for him did strike Sean Knight quite deeply.
With Sky Eye activated, he could feel that these people were sincere. They weren’t joking or trying to deceive him.
"I believe you, but of course, if you go, you should also ensure your own safety," Sean Knight said, "Just wait for now, I need... "
"Our tribe alone can provide 500 people!" the second speaker interrupted, "Five hundred warriors willing to die for you!"
Sean Knight was startled!
He turned to look at Hassan.
Hassan said with a bit of pride,
"Surprising, isn’t it, Mr. Knight? The improvements you’ve brought to their lives are immense. Our tribe knows how to acknowledge and repay kindness; we will not let our benefactor fall into danger."
"We can also provide 500 people!" another one interjected.
Hassan gestured with his hand and said,
"No need for so many. Thirty from each tribe will do. But they must be the very best! Understand?"
"Understood, I am one of the very best!" the first man who had spoken earlier said, thumping his chest proudly.
"So am I!"
While they were arguing, a convoy kicked up dust as it approached, dozens of people jumped out and hurriedly ran over.
Hassan said, laughing,
"Mr. Knight, see that? Another tribe has made it over here."
The nearby tribes, the closest one less than ten kilometers away, had received the phone call and assembled in less than half an hour.
It was clear that these people were genuinely willing to become Sean Knight’s bodyguards.
Before it got dark, the base saw over a thousand armed fighters gather.
If there really was a drone looking down from the sky, it would probably give some people headaches again.
The warriors were divided into sections based on tribal affiliation.
Hassan had also instructed the team leaders, specifying thirty of the fiercest warriors from each tribe.
These leaders were now choosing their men.
And now Sean Knight fully understood the influence he had brought to the tribes was starting to pay off for himself.
He felt a bit of pride.
Even though these direct paybacks were not from his countrymen, they were nonetheless moving to him.
Having thousands of people willing to take a bullet for oneself, saying so really could become a story to boast about for a lifetime, right?
"Mr. Knight, when do you plan to leave?" Hassan asked inside the base.
"I’m waiting for Henija’s phone call," Sean Knight said.
Henija was in a difficult position on the other side.
Since Kabul was "recovered," unclaimed residences naturally became state-owned. Some were sold, while others were given to those with merits.
The villa Sean Knight needed to visit belonged to one of the latter cases.
This villa covered a hundred acres and, being far from significant and military targets, had neither been bombed nor looted, so it was quickly noticed after the recovery and then turned into the private home of that general.
However, the general was dissatisfied with the environment inside the villa, and he brought in workers to renovate it according to his wishes before handing over some of the former owner’s belongings to the organization.
The box that Sean Knight saw was one of those items.
Henija’s position was not high enough to directly discuss this matter with that general. But he knew that if he did not handle this matter, those factories would more than likely fall through.
Therefore, it was a must to go through with it.
He approached his superior, the current Minister of Internal Affairs, who had also tasked him with this duty.
"You mean, he wishes to enter that residence and have a look around to see if he can find the items from the box?" the Minister of Internal Affairs asked with an odd expression upon learning Sean Knight’s request. "He didn’t ask for the villa, did he?"
"No," Henija stated firmly, "Although he had previously mentioned wanting a piece of land in Kabul City District, he didn’t say he wanted that villa. It seems to me he just wants to find the box’s contents, which might be very important to him."
The Minister of Internal Affairs stood up and walked around his office a couple of times before saying,
"Is General Ahmadi very attached to that villa?"
"Yes," Henija confirmed, evidently having made inquiries. "Basically, he returns there to rest every day after work."
"Then so be it," the Minister of Internal Affairs declared. "I’ll coordinate and have General Ahmadi vacate the villa, transferring it to Sean. We are in a time of peace now, and while the army is important, all must make way for national construction.
As far as I’m aware, General Ahmadi has two other villas in Kabul. The state will buy his villa and compensate him. I believe he will understand."
"And if he doesn’t?" Henija inquired anxiously.
"Doesn’t want to?" the Minister of Internal Affairs chuckled coldly. "Even if he doesn’t want to, he must! This matter must proceed in this way! You don’t need to worry about it; I will handle the coordination. In ten days, call that Mr. Knight to come over."
On his way back, Henija couldn’t shake a sense of unease.
General Ahmadi would most likely comply with the Minister’s request to vacate the villa.
After all, the Minister of Internal Affairs held immense power, and General Ahmadi was ranked two levels below him and was not in a position to confront him.
But what about afterward? Would General Ahmadi’s fury be directed at Mr. Knight?
