Chapter 1173: Chapter 604: Spit Out What You’ve Eaten of Mine!
The translator spoke to Sean Knight in hushed tones:
"Our boss means that those two items must also be genuine. He trusts Mr. Knight’s reputation and would not provide him with fake cultural relics. He hopes to buy all of the items."
"That’s no problem," said Sean Knight, who truly valued harmony and prosperity. Laughing, he added, "I have no objection if that’s what you want. We Chinese people believe in mutual benefit, so if you want it, I’m definitely happy. If you don’t, it’s also fine for me to keep it."
The translator immediately relayed the message to Senid, who once again gave Sean a thumbs up and rattled off a long string of words.
"My boss says he is very happy to meet someone like you. He is hopeful that in the future, he could continue doing such business with you. Oh, and about those two items, my boss is indeed interested and has said that he will increase the price by one million dollars..."
Sean nodded, and with that, the deal was settled.
The handover was also very straightforward. The items were right there, and Senid made a phone call. Soon enough, a special car arrived with one ton of gold — though it sounds like a lot, in actuality, one ton of gold is about the size of half a suitcase.
After the transaction was complete, Senid enthusiastically invited Sean Knight to visit their place, and Sean agreed. Of course, the timing would be discussed later.
After Senid left, Sean had planned to pack up and leave immediately, as the past two or three days had flown by.
He didn’t forget to transfer the 100,000 dollars in commission to Robert — after all, without Robert’s introduction, the one ton of gold would not have ended up in his hands.
"Sean, do you happen to have other artifacts from ancient civilizations? If so, I hope to introduce more buyers to you. Many indigenous rich people are emerging now, and they wish to regain confidence in their own civilizations.
But due to certain reasons, many of their cultural relics have been buried deeply underground or were taken away centuries ago. It’s very difficult for them to find such items now. I know you’re an expert in this area. You definitely have a way, right?"
After thinking for a moment, Sean said:
"I do have some methods. But right now, I have an urgent matter to attend to. Once I’ve dealt with it, we can discuss this further."
"What could be more important than making money?" Robert was a bit puzzled. "Your last deal was worth several tens of millions of dollars, a fortune that ordinary people will never come across in their lifetimes! Think about it; two years ago, I couldn’t have even imagined that I would be introducing you to such a business!"
"The issue I’m going to resolve is also a money-making business," Sean didn’t mind letting Robert in on a bit of the story. "I have a gold mine in Mongolia that I had left to a professional manager. Recently, I’ve been receiving some irregular updates from there, so I plan to go take a look."
"A gold mine? Sean, the more I learn about the diversity of your assets, the more surprised I am! I bet the next time you tell me you’re the world’s richest person, I won’t have any particular reaction!"
Sean thought to himself, if today’s deal with Senid was any indication, with the items he had in his spatial realm, if he sold them at these prices, he really could become the world’s richest person — and that would be in net worth, not in stocks, funds, or tangible assets.
Of course, although that might be the case, it wasn’t something he could openly admit.
"I’m also working towards that goal, but whether it becomes a reality is a different matter," Sean said humorously before hanging up the phone.
Three days later, Sean, along with his team members, took off and landed in Ulan Bator.
As planned, he and Elijah Hastings, with two team members, drove towards the golden mine while Lincoln Harrington and Douglas Cooper took other team members and drove on a different route undercover, heading to the periphery of the mine, waiting for Sean’s instructions.
Sean didn’t attempt to conceal his itinerary; the four of them drove an off-road vehicle straight to the mine. Sean felt that if there was a premeditated plan against him, it was very likely they’d already be aware of his arrival.
In the area, Sean tried making another phone call to Edward Shermer, but again, there was no answer.
Well then, it’s time for action!
The golden mine had now transformed into something resembling a small town.
Near the mining site, numerous wooden and simple makeshift structures had been added. Their entrances displayed brightly colored slanting writing, which Sean guessed indicated that they were shops or entertainment venues based on their exteriors.
Some people were driving cars with various goods displayed on their trunks, seemly setting up stalls.
The machines at the mine were rumbling loudly, clearly in operation.
Observing the people near the mining site, Sean didn’t see any familiar faces.
Including the security guard at the entrance, who didn’t seem to be one of the people Antony Carter had originally brought with him.
Had Antony been ousted, or was there another hidden issue?
"Boss, shall we go in and take a look?" Elijah asked.
"No need," Sean shook his head and replied, "Let’s go have a look around the small town."
Though this place was more prosperous than the original small town, it was still not a true town.
If something had gone wrong with the mine or the gold had been depleted, the prosperity here would dissipate as swiftly as a burst soap bubble.
As they drove into the town, it was just as Sean had surmised. The number of people had reduced significantly, and even those walking outside didn’t have a sunny look on their faces.
Sean also noticed that there were some new two-story buildings that had been constructed in the town.
He immediately speculated—were these people able to afford building houses because of the gold mine?
