Chapter 1132: Chapter 590: Never Go Easy on Such a One!_2
In the eyes of these indigenous people, the items they dug up were utterly useless, neither suitable as tools nor as weapons.
As Sean Knight was about to walk away, the indigenous elder took out a blow arrow, intending to give Sean Knight a surprise attack.
Sean Knight fired back with a pistol, ending him—if you don’t want to live, then don’t!
At that moment, Elijah Hastings came out of a nearby straw hut, holding a wicker basket filled with a messy assortment of goldware and jade ware, nothing else.
"These people really waste treasures," Elijah complained, "All the good things have been ruined by them..."
Before Sean Knight could reply, roars from the tribe came from the distance.
It was from the direction they had come from.
It was unclear whether the escaped tribespeople had sent a warning or whether the rest of the tribe heard the gunshots and had returned.
"Let’s hide first." Sean Knight slung his backpack over his shoulder, called out to Elijah, and the two of them entered the jungle.
Soon, about a dozen tribal warriors ran back to the campground, found bodies everywhere, and the leading warrior roared once again!
The warriors immediately began searching around.
Hidden in the jungle, Sean Knight and Elijah watched as the warriors ran around like headless flies, knowing the danger had passed.
Sean Knight, carrying his backpack, crouched behind some shrubbery. Not far in front of him, a tribesman wielding a wooden spear was carefully scouring the area.
When no one else was close, as the tribesman drew near, Sean Knight suddenly stood up, swinging his hooked blade and decapitated the tribesman. The man fell to the ground without managing to make a sound.
The noise attracted the attention of the other indigenous people. When they surrounded the place, they only found a headless corpse!
They yelled in anger, slashing and hacking with their weapons in the nearby shrubbery, but they couldn’t find their enemy.
After losing three warriors, the tribe’s leader suddenly yelled out, and the warriors quickly retreated, then disappeared!
At that point, Sean Knight didn’t regret not shooting those people with his gun.
He had come for wealth, and it was enough to kill those who stood in his way.
After this clash, the strength of the indigenous tribe was greatly diminished. It was unlikely they would have the energy to capture people for food anymore, right?
After regrouping with Elijah, he took over the backpack and stuffed the contents of the wicker basket into it. Considering the items were already damaged, they weren’t worried about additional pressure and decided to head back.
Just then, strange noises suddenly came from the jungle!
Sean Knight and Elijah exchanged glances, both feeling a sense of foreboding.
At that moment, a large troop of monkeys rushed over—some jumping from tree to tree, others running on all fours along the ground!
Relying on their sharper sense of smell, they quickly detected Sean Knight and Elijah and began to surround them!
At a glance, there were at least dozens of monkeys!
A few leading monkeys were of large size, standing bent-legged yet over one meter tall!
Some of these monkeys rushed at them bare-handed while others threw stones and fruit at them!
A few monkeys had eyes red as if they had some strange disease, snarling and biting wildly!
"Bang! Bang! Bang!" Sean Knight and Elijah reacted quickly, firing their pistols repeatedly. They knocked down several of the large monkeys that lunged at them.
However, it was harder to dodge the stones and fruit. Elijah was hit several times!
"Let’s go!" Sean Knight pushed Elijah and covered the retreat with his double guns.
Some monkeys hesitated at the gunshots, but the few with red eyes seemed even more emboldened by the noise and attacked them with even crazier ferocity!
"Bang! Bang! Bang!" Sean Knight covered Elijah as they retreated, managing to break out of the monkeys’ encirclement before they were completely surrounded.
The clever monkeys knew what the men were up to; aside from the red-eyed ones, the rest climbed the trees, grabbing everything they could to hurl at Sean Knight and Elijah.
The agile and quick monkeys, although occasionally shot down, were quickly replaced by more coming from behind.
"These indigenous people must know how to control animals!" Sean Knight said to Elijah as they retreated, "We’ve got to find a place to hold up!"
As long as they had cover, Sean was convinced that these monkeys and indigenous people were no match for the two of them.
"Boss, over there!" Elijah looked around and immediately saw a tall building ahead—a half-collapsed Great Pyramid, but there was still a square house on top of it.
"If we go there and climb up, we won’t need to guard the sides. We should be able to hold them off there!"
The two of them immediately made their way in that direction.
The gang of monkeys, seeming to know their intentions, screeched and leaped ahead to cut them off, with some chasing from behind and others flanking from the sides.
"Damn it, they know tactics too? Do they really think we are sick cats?" Elijah, incensed, pulled out a hand grenade and threw it behind at the group of monkeys!
The monkeys in the back caught the grenade, examined it, tried to bite it, and when one of them was about to throw it back, "Boom," it exploded!
Four or five monkeys immediately fell in a pool of blood, and the rest panicked and scattered!
