Chapter 1097: Chapter 578: So What If You Besiege Me?_3

In their eyes, this unassuming Chinese man would certainly make a move in the end.

Indeed, when the Jewish pushed the offer to 1.81 million dollars and Number Twelve stopped following, Sean Knight raised his card:

"One million eight hundred fifty thousand dollars."

This bid wasn’t too high, but it immediately blew up the atmosphere in the auction house!

As expected, he made another move!

Even Stella Gray felt that Sean Knight’s timing was just right this time.

Because of that Jewish man’s demeanor earlier, he was truly annoying!

"One million nine hundred thousand dollars!" The Jewish man glared fiercely at Sean Knight and made another high bid.

"One million nine hundred fifty thousand dollars." Sean Knight didn’t show any weakness either.

After all, US dollars really weren’t worth much now, and the best dollars were those being spent.

"One million nine hundred ninety thousand dollars!"

"Two million."

"Two million and ten thousand!" The Jewish man raised his card again.

"Two million twenty thousand!" Sean Knight was equally unyielding.

The Jewish man gave up.

"Congratulations to VIP Number Sixteen for acquiring the ownership of Land No. 2!" The auctioneer bowed to Sean Knight this time.

Many people also began to applaud.

Sean Knight was a bit surprised—what was this applause for?

Next, Land Number Three went up for auction.

Land Number Three spanned fifty-five hectares and was located in the suburbs.

Having already acquired two pieces of land, although the price was a bit high, Sean Knight felt it wasn’t bad.

At least this kind of land had permanent ownership.

Of course, whether it could stay permanent depended on how long Brazil would remain peaceful.

In the current society, no one could guarantee an answer to this.

However, Sean Knight wasn’t going to think too much about it.

In his hands, he had too much of that dirty money, or rather, money that was difficult to spend legitimately.

Rather than keeping it hidden away, it was better to spend it on buying land, which anyway was a legitimate transaction.

The third piece of land was ultimately, without exception, also acquired by Sean Knight.

The first was a coincidence, the second was a coincidence, but could the third also be a coincidence?

Now, whether it was Jewish No.9, the man with a grim face Number Twelve, or VIP Number Seventeen, Andrew Petrov, their gaze towards Sean Knight had become complicated.

Even Stella Gray felt that if she didn’t do something, she might not get a single piece of land this time.

Unfortunately, she couldn’t say anything about it.

It was only when she couldn’t outbid the Jewish man or the man with the grim face that Sean Knight would raise his card to participate in the auction and then secure the land.

Who can she blame if her funds aren’t sufficient?

The fourth piece of land was the small ten-hectare plot previously discussed, but it came with very good facilities.

Next to the plot, there was a single-story house, a warehouse, and a shed for storing tractors.

Another advantage of this small farm was that the hired workers were already there; one could take over and start farming right away.

An ideal little farm indeed.

Thus, the reserve price was directly set at 150,000 dollars.

Many people were interested in this farm, and the bidding was frequent and vigorous.

"One hundred sixty thousand!"

"One hundred seventy thousand!"

"One hundred eighty thousand!"

"Two hundred thousand!"

...

The price was quickly pushed to 230,000 dollars, and by then fewer people were raising their cards.

Over twice the market value, some already felt it was not worth it.

"Boss, it seems the land prices are staggering this year," Douglas Cooper sighed. "This is about 150 acres of farmland, right? Back in our area, the annual lease fee wouldn’t even be 100,000 yuan..."

"But this is for lifetime ownership," Lincoln Harrington waved his hand dismissively. "Can you compare them?"

"True," Douglas nodded in agreement. "Seeing this enthusiasm, I’m actually considering getting involved..."

"Shall I bid for it on your behalf?" Sean Knight asked with a smile.

"Forget it," Douglas hastily gestured. "I wouldn’t be able to settle down. Following you around the world has been enough; a place like this is fine for a vacation, but if I had to stay for long, I’d rather go to your big island."

"Exactly," Elijah Hastings agreed.

While they were talking, the land price had already climbed to 250,000 dollars, and finally, only a few bidders were left.

The bid of 250,000 dollars came from Andrew Petrov, who glanced at Sean Knight as if to suggest he shouldn’t bid.

Sean didn’t respond.

A friendship is a friendship, but business is business.

Moreover, the two of them weren’t exactly friends.

Sean didn’t speak, and he didn’t place a bid either, which brought a smile to Andrew’s face.

However, his smile was short-lived. As soon as the auctioneer had called out the price of 250,000 dollars twice, the Jewish man immediately raised his card.

"Two hundred sixty thousand dollars!"

The man with a grim face glanced at Sean Knight but said nothing.

Struggling for a moment, Andrew raised his card again:

"Two hundred seventy thousand dollars!"

The Jewish man countered:

"Two hundred eighty thousand dollars!"

He seemed to be challenging Andrew.

After looking at the map of the ten-hectare land, Andrew eventually gave up.

Tripling the price wasn’t worth it.

The man with a grim face looked down and remained silent.

The auctioneer called the price twice and was about to bring down the hammer when he looked towards Sean.

As expected, Sean placed another bid:

"Three hundred thousand dollars!"

With just one bid, he shocked both the Jewish man and the man with a grim face.

Even after the auctioneer prompted them several times, they said nothing further.

A final bid.

The rest of the auction was somewhat lackluster.

Sean spent over 30 million dollars and bought 21 pieces of land, roughly 1,600 hectares in total.

The average price was about 20,000 dollars per hectare.

The morning auction ended.

Aside from Sean Knight, incredibly, nobody else managed to succeed in bidding!

During the noon break at the buffet in the dining hall, Andrew Petrov walked over to Sean’s side, picking at his meat as he said:

"You have now made enemies out of the Four Major Landlords. This afternoon they will surely concoct some schemes against you. My friend, would you consider joining forces?"

"No," Sean waved his hand. "I’m used to doing things on my own."

"All right then," Andrew shrugged. "If that’s the case, I won’t hold back if we’re up against each other this afternoon."

"May the best man win," Sean replied as he took his meat back to his seat.

"I saw that Jewish No.9 going out," Lincoln murmured from their table. "I suspect he’s gone to negotiate some terms with the organizers."

"Why bother about what he’s doing? If God stands in the way, kill God; if Buddha stands in the way, kill Buddha. Isn’t it just about who has more money?" Douglas said indifferently. "As long as the cash is on the table, how can he curb the boss?"

Sean frowned and said:

"I’ll go out for a bit later. Lincoln, you and Douglas, wait for me in the car. If anything comes up, I’ll call you."

"Sure," Lincoln agreed without asking why.

After lunch, Sean hurried to the parking lot. After fiddling in the trunk for a while, he told Lincoln and Douglas to stay in the car, and he himself walked back to the auction house.

When the auction resumed, indeed, there was a change!
